I hate everyone that says Nash has horrible defense. I mean Josh Smith is 6' 9" and Steve Nash is 6' 3". Clearly Josh Smith will easily dunk it over him. And I'd like to see you guard Josh Smith coming down the lane in full speed.
@SamuraiSwoosh I agree.. It takes balls to sacrifice your body and reputation like that. A lot of people can make that dunk, but not many would attempt that unselfish basketball charge.
I probably wouldn't have done the same.. but I got to give Nash credit for having the balls to take it.
@SamuraiSwoosh I don't know if it's guts, as much as it's a lack of thinking on defense. Nash needs to do something before the player gets in the air. He always gets flushed on because he backs up until he hits players' launching spots then he's meat. After a player is airborne he needs to get out the way. He's either going to give up 2, or worse, 3 with the foul and get the other team revved up with his matador defense.
Wonder why Phoenix has never even made it to the Finals? Nash: the front of your defense has no defense. An NBA player gets a head of steam or an opposing point guard is not concerned about a play being disrupted, and you will lose all the time against high quality teams. Run and gun works in the regular season, but in the playoffs when every team is quality, defense still wins championships.
