I used to play this game and I agree that this game is notoriously hard, especially Storm's level. I realized something while watching your video. Why the hell would she used electric thunderbolts underwater? That doesn't even make one iota of logic.

Storm's first level is imho the easiest level on the game besides the entry level, altough I have never played Gambit, Spiderman, or Cyclops second levels

This actually sorta-kinda happened in the comics. Arcade kidnapped the current roster of X-men, and threw Storm in a giant tank of water. She escaped by focusing her lightning (somehow) into a torch to cut through a grate.

Why did a flying character a water level anyway?  It would've made more sense to send Wolverine through it, especially since lightning diffuses in water. Old school games always had incredibly weird design choices. I remember the old NES one, which made this look like art. Not to mention Turtles, where it had an annoying long water stage where you had to also destroy objects along the way and the fact that water killed you in earlier levels for some reasons...
