One of the most noble, heroic and beautiful things on You Tube. And at this writing, only 51 hearings of it! Sad that the general public has forgotten such majesty, and listens to Susan Boyle, Andrea Bocelli, and such as those. It is no wonder that opera is struggling these days. People have simply forgotten what great singing is. Here it is! God bless Flagstad!

@Operaddict Could not have said it better! But remember that Kathleen Ferrier was "discovered" much like Susan Boyle many years ago, and there are some wonderful moments in this recording where Flagstad's voice is reminiscent of her beautiful depth. No - things are sad indeed. I'm glad that you are aware of Flagstad. As much as I love opera, I don't make any great effort to visit live performances in Scandinavia anymore (where I live). Plus, so tired of the "contemporary" stagings.
