you guys use domestic cats to make sure the 'wild' ones behave like 'cats'?
the tuxedo cat and the 'wildone' sure were having fun.reminds me of a couple of cats I know..the little dears can really spread chaos and disorder throughout the apartment ....
cant imagine the destruction the bigs ones would do to a couch .
We will keep up the "small cat" rescue - the word is out in the neighborhood: they all show up for a meal and a little snooze in the backyard. We buy pet food and then people food, but we're not skinny yet! Blessings.
Would love to do what you are!! Since I can't, will donate when I can (even though I can't send $ right now, I'll be praying). Thank you so much, there is a special place in Heaven for you. We rescue the smaller size (cats) in our neighborhood. A funny thought for you: my sister-in-law used to say if there were a lion loose in the nieghborhood, I'd be out there say "here kitty, kitty". My sister says "if you want your picture taken at Ginny's house, hold a cat". It's all true.
These animals are so wonderful. How can one think of abusing, exploiting or even killing them. Respect their innocence and freedom. Thank you to all those people who work to save them. You are real heroes. If I get a chance i would love to dedicate my life helping these animals. If I can help save life of even one it will be the biggest satisfaction in my life
about as happy as a cat can get. The cages you see such as at 3:02 allow the animal to enter and exit as it pleases. Cat owners...ever notice how a cat likes to climb inside a box and just hang out there for awhile? These cages do the same thing. They provide the cat with privacy and shelter from the elements or other cats.
A cat in the wild, (especially an endangered cat like these Siberians) have a much, much tougher life.
Please, go open a textbook before you open your mouths.
It's amazing the number of commenters who lament about the cages..."Oh the poor thing how horrible". Obviously NONE of these morons, while they may have kind hearts, have never studied zoology, animal psychology, or anything else having to do with animals in captivity. You can't look at a youtube video and conclude these cats live in a 10x10 caged cell. I remind you to look at 2:47. These animals are free to roam. They are free from predators, disease, poachers, and cruelty. They are
your job must be horrible, even though you provide shelter love and a non abusive home for the cats and give them new hopes i cant imagine how sad it is to see them in cages, i cudnt do what u do i would be heartbroken everytime i walked into work
This is true at times, we wish we didn't have to exist, but then we remember if they weren't under our care these cats would be in far worse situations or dead, so that makes up for it! Then we are doing alot of work regarding the captive wildlife laws and how to get them changed, so when we walk around and see all our cats in their enclosures this is impetus for us to keep on doing the work! Thanks for commenting :)
This is a wonderful video for anyone who values these beautiful animals. It is so difficult to believe that these cats were abused and mistreated. Personally, I cannot fathom what it is in human nature that would allow abuse and neglect to occur (to ANY animal).
These cats and all animals are a huge part of a spiritual landscape that fills in us a part of our longing to be part of something so much greater.
The cats at the beginning of the video were Joseph's pride which we rescued form Ohio, the other shots are of cats we have already rescued and are now living at the sanctuary and the bobcats we rehabbed for release to the wild! :)
i had a cat once when i was 7, a female one, her name was Gazoz, which in English means....Soda, i guess.... (i didn't give her that name, i bought her with that name) one day, Gazoz was gone, for i think almost 3 days... i looked for her EVERYWHERE i assumed she ran away / jumped out of the window about 3 days later, i found her in my closet, with 4 cute little cubs, i had no idea when she could have got pregnant, but i loved it, i kept them all. sadly i had to move and forget them, i didn't
Not all exotic animals owners exploit their animals, and some actually do take the proper precautions and have the facilities to care for their best friends.
We do volunteer orientation on the first saturday of each month, you have to be 18yr or older and can either be an admin volunteer (tours, paperwork, customer relations etc...) or keeper. Visit our website bigcatrescue*org for more info.
Sorry for the late reply! Maybe but probably not! They are very unpredictable it depends on the cat, but the fact of the matter is it's always cruel for the animal who will still have it's wild instincts and want to be roaming around in the wild.
I once had a orange tabby kitten(named orange). We abdopted in but because of its smell,my dad give it back...They have their own personal smell(like my dad,mom,teacher,air-con,etc)right? Cats are so cute dont you think?
That's too bad that you had to give him back! All cats have their own personal smell yes, they spray, rub and scratch this everywhere to mark their territory!
wooo go cats they rule. lions ar my favorite.good job save those cats.oh and i ahd an idea,you know bout how they found a frozen wooly mathmooht?well if they cna amke enought ligers[cross between liona nd tiger,are real][ they could put them in the same territopry as the mammoths to keep the population down =}
Thanks we do our best, we are releasing hope the bobcat at the end of this month she as been rehabbed and knows how to hunt so off she goes to do her part for the florida bobcat survival!
Thank you so very much for your time, money, and effort to rehabilitate these amazing creatures and provide a safe haven. There are still so many abused big cats throughout the states that need a good home but it's people like you that are making a difference one animal at a time.
Thanks, another perhaps more important way of helping captive animals is to petition for new laws regarding ownership of exotics. Once the ownership of big cats becomes illegal, the abuse will stop too!
I agree. They need to make it a lot more difficult to buy, keep, and sell big cats without proper licensing. . . but i fear even then there will still be this illegal underground trade
Yeah maybe so, but like you said if we make it alot more difficult that will help and the government can't keep dismissing this problem for much longer, thanks for the comment.
Check out Cat Tales Zoological Park in Mead, WA. I have adopted one of their beautiful 700 lb Siberians, and got to hand feed him! I hope they breed them again..those cubs were so cute!

This is very rare and it doesn't change the fact that it's wrong to be keeping these cats as "pets" that's what domestic cats are for.
