Shadflies don't bite at all, at least not humans. But they are a pain because they emerge in early summer in hordes. easy to swallow and, once, my dad made the mistake of painting the garage door just when the shadflies emerged. The door was thick with the bugger and had to be dried and completely re-sanded.

Nice Job .. The first time I heard this was with the video, which is now gone thanks to - "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by National Film Board of Canada." I know all about the darn black flies, as I work on cutting trails at a park in New Brunswick. I should change the words of the song to suit the park and trail crew. Ha .. That would be funny! You did a great job. I was searching around uTube looking for some old folk singer I would really like to see. I thought of Wade Hemsworth. I saw Hemsworth at the Winnipeg Folk Festival about 16 years ago. He was about 80 then. I wish I had had a digital camera. Damn. He was/is Canda's best kept secret. Excellent version of the Black Fly Song.

There's an old canuck classic. I'd love to hear the original recording. He's singing about building the Abitibi Canyon dam, about 75k North of Hwy 11 (Trans Canada) at Smooth Rock Falls. Great cover man!
