No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young designer and graffiti artist, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my art has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
0:59 and my favourite sounds start to make me dance. Edge's best riff ever, so funky and fresh. That's what makes this song and the whole PopMart cool. :)))
I don't want to sound like an old lunatic(I'm 17) but i feel like Pop was the last GREAT U2 album. ATYCLB, HTDAAB & NLOTH are good albums but they stopped writting creative music which made them great. U2 still is my 2nd favorite band though.
@RushRules4 i think atyclb is their last golden album. after that youre right, but altyclb is just as good as pop, joshua tree, or achtung baby. just my opinion you haters!
@Nikowica Your so right, when it first came out i hated it , and thought it was the end of u2 ! It took a while for me to realize what geniuse it was !!!!!
@ajwhite98 Well we have some little problems with the education, but the Mexican people its one of the best around the world, cause we fight despite all the problems we have , so we are in progress! And the Music is not only understanding everything, you can feel it, and Bono is the perfect person to make you feel the music in all the ways!
i realize that Popmart cost a bazillion dollars to put on, and the album wasn't all that successful, but this show was a mindbender. Pontiac, MI Silverdome October 31, 1997. the perfect Halloween costume party. my wife and her sister bought disco clothes for this. just great. the whole atmosphere blew my mind. Edge's guitar is from another world. seen numerous bands, this one topped them all. liked this show better than ZooTV.
Feckin brilliant single- production and song structure is perfect. I agree that album was underrated. They were at least trying to loosen up and sound inventive (like they completly nailed when they produced masterpiece albums like War and Unforgetable Fire). Recent stuff less so. But then they're old fuckers now, right :\
In 1998 I quit my job and left for Rio Autodrome at 2 PM. I was one of the first close to the stage and enjoyed one of the best shows I've seen among Europe, USA and South America. The chaos ruled in the city of Rio but I didn't care cause I was there pretty early and it was GREAT !!!! A lot of memories....
This is U2 showing its diversity playing pop songs along with rock and funky disco. I don't see anything but four guys making major bucks having the time of a lifetime....oh how I envey them!!
Here's this mega-distorted sound coming out of Edge's guitar, that seems like he should be going all over the fret board, and all he's doing is strumming one chord. Genuis!
Semplicemente la migliore Band al mondo. Peccato non averli visti negli anni 90 ma mi sono goduto 5 concerti dal 2000 ad oggi e ogni volta c'era solo una parola per descrivere il tutto: MAGNIFICENT.
I wish U2 would do some more stuff like Actung Baby and Pop... as much as I like the standard U2 sound also, there were some really good tracks that came out of these two albums.

Still though i think pop is a very underrated album. You wanna know what other song would go well with the 360 tour: last night on earth!!! I also wish they would sing some other stuff from joshua tree besides street, without you, and i still haven't such as in god's country or one tree hill. U2 has some great stuff which is overlooked.

U2 are, have been and will be my favourite band of all time. Their songs have seeped under my skin and become the soundtrack to my life. No other group working today can hold a candle to their backstory, songs, influence or longevity. Most modern "artists" come and go, but let them, because (for me anyway) U2 are the only band that matters, because they have a catalogue of extraordinary, decade spanning, life changing songs.
The Edge sometimes uses an infinite guitar. A guitar specially designed for him. Not your typical fender!
The notes can be sustained, well, infinitely until you shut it off;) But when the riff starts I see he his playing a green fender. I thought his infinite was actually a darker color with an almost chrome scratch guard.
But maybe he has a couple? After all he has over 200 guitars! 20 are played every set. It could be a back track too? or a synthesiser guitar?
The guitar here is a Fernandes Decade with the Fernandes Sustainer system installed. It has the body of a Fender Jaguar or Jazzmaster except with Strat style pickups and bridge. The Sustainer is Fernandes brand name for the infinite guitar system. Edge still uses a Fernandes of some sort to play "With or Without You" I believe
POP is the first new U2 album I bought since I start following them (after the end of Zooropa tour). So, for me this is a special album. Time have actually given this album a fairer credit. It's actually pretty good. Certainly better than No Line & Thing That You Can't Leave Behind. It's sitting just behind How To Dismanstle An Atomic Bomb.
imo this tour had the best tracklist setup. First tour really to hold the main single from the album towards the end of the show. Also, velvet dress then with or without.. then going back to the main stage for hold me,kill me... fantastic tracklist setup! STILL MY favorite.
What bugs me is how POP/discothque was trashed when it came out. Now, as the previous person mentioned "boots" is basically disco rehashed and they are claiming its the best since Acthung..... now does that make any sense.. i dont think so. POP > atuclb & htdatb. Plus, that word all alone looks so freaking cool lol.
tons of gear?? that was years ago, nowdays all you need is a pc and software emulator like "guitar rig". There's a lot of famous guitar tunes and of course the "the edge" one.
I knew it! U2 are not from this world!

No other group working today can hold a candle to their backstory, songs, influence or longevity. Most modern "artists" come and go, but let them, because (for me anyway) U2 are the only band that matters, because they have a catalogue of extraordinary, decade spanning, life changing songs.

Incredible. I wonder how a guitar can make such a noise! Awesome.

Becouse The Edge is playing it ;o)

Pop wasn't really a good album, but Pop made U2 a kickass live band!! I wish I was at this concert! Looks fun as hell!

Larga vida a U2
thx for the video.

At the time this was the low-point of the album for me, but the song has grown on me over time. Arriving in an enormous mirror ball lemon, did help.

STILL MY favorite.

ironically, one of their greatest guitar songs and a great lead single, look now at "Get on Your Boots" and see how lost they currently are

"boots" is basically discotheque rehashed!!
knownpleasures 2 years ago 2
What bugs me is how POP/discothque was trashed when it came out. Now, as the previous person mentioned "boots" is basically disco rehashed and they are claiming its the best since Acthung..... now does that make any sense.. i dont think so. POP > atuclb & htdatb. Plus, that word all alone looks so freaking cool lol.

tons of gear?? that was years ago, nowdays all you need is a pc and software emulator like "guitar rig". There's a lot of famous guitar tunes and of course the "the edge" one.
