this album was one of the best things that happened to me in my life, it came out when i was in a bad place in life and i could relate to everything phil said from the time this song started till the last cord of bury me in smoke my life was forever changed and i have never looked back since...i always have a copy of this cd in my library and whenever i am feeling DOWN myself, i put it in, spark one up and just listen...it's like meditation... for metalheads!!!
My Teacher is a old fashioned Metal Head and he gave me some of his Cd's like Dream Theater and this L.A. Cd I was like what this? And then I put in it my Computer and this song Blew me away all I got to say is... My teacher is badass!
down and superjoint ritual show case phils talents. pantera is the best tho cuz they had vinnie and dimebag and pphil and rex thats how athey got so good and during those days they didnt use hi tech technology it waz all skill
That dual lead guitar work starting from 2:25 is influenced by Thin Lizzy, and I think it's phenomenal, Thin Lizzy are the best & greatest band for me, and to hear Kirk Windstein implementing his love passion and appreciation for Thin Lizzy in his work is just pure magic . EPIC !!!!!!

Year by year, day by day I appreciate more and more Phil's attitude and vocal style (ofcourse lyrics too). I heard his singin first time over 10 years ago, and I can say that I can't never describe my respect, even if I met him in a real life, never. Phil Anselmo is the only and the best singer ever.

Metatrix you understand nothing bout Philip, Down is a killer band, one of the best of all times and at this time they're the best in total. And so is Superjoint.
Pantera was so good also thanks to the fate and the evolving of things.
Keep listening to them like I do, they're history, but their end has bring to us some incredible new bands.
Down, especially Nola album, rocks. Pantera was not only Dimebag, but even Phil brought into it good ideas. Then all fell down, because he got into heroin and also he got far from the band. But no one can deny Phil too is talented as hell for vocals

All the stuff anselmo did with Pantera were legendary! But Down is just a whole other level.. I mean nobody will ever be a greater heavy metal band then Pantera but down's music is just so freakin raw and heavy!!! I don't even want to compare Down to Pantera because the fact is all Anselmo's project are legendary!!!!!!
When some one like phil is working on two different projects like down and super joint........pantera then was placed on the back burner in his eyes...........btw about the show idea......good idea but dont it if vinne even wants to see phil again!
They had to give up on Pantera(THERE BAND they created at like 15 together), because of intellectual property reasons, they couldnt even keep the name. Furthermore Phil was banned from Dimes funeral as one of Dimes wishes was to NEVER be in the same room as Phil Anselmo again.
If that happened i would lose all respect for Vinnie. As Phil was the whole reason pantera broke up. He holed up inb New Orleans, and would not talk to Dime or Vin. They eventually started writing the new Pantera album themselves, so Phil could come in and do vox later. Eventually they gave up on that for a number of reasons, Phil was a heroin addict, he wouldn't talk to them at all, and he's kind of an asshole in general.
@sexnviolence666 How hard it hits doesn't make it a good album. Don't get me wrong, Trendkill is my favorite, but no one can real judge on which is the "best", because they're all golden, no doubt about it.

So that you are aware Dimebag Darrell= Genius, Legend, God. To honour his memory they should have have a brief reunion (Phil, Vinnie + Rex) and put on a tribute show for DImebag. They could have a selection of guest guitarests to join in with them. Lets say for example, Slash, Zakk Wylde and maybe a few others........any other ideas???
And I don't to hear the usual 'No Pantera without Dime' bullshit. I've heard it all before. This would be a fucking TRIBUTE show- a one off

@metratix No Pantera reunion, you just don't do that. Pantera happened and the people in the band and the fans had one hell of a great time, they wrote music history. They created legendary songs. Let's keep it at that, and remember it. Listen to it over and over again.
Just don't do a reunion, which will probably fail as well. Pantera can never be done over. It will sound like a cover band.
Hell yeah! Thats what I wanna to see during my forsaken life-time. Pantera-reunion...DimeTribute...Phil on vocals, Zakk and many other great guitar-players rockin as hard as they can....not trying to replace Dime, but honoring him.
Think of this: Cliff Burton was a bass legend (best bassist ever). He was like a brother to James, Kirk and Lars in Metallica. Metallica could have broke up after he died but they didn't. So why the hell did Pantera not continue on with a new guitarist. Millions of fans have been really pissed off by this. Of course Dimebag was a guitar legend,a god, a genius and so on. But so is John Frusiante, Dave Mustaine and the Edge. Dimebag practically invented groove metal- his legacy.

Phi's attention should have been on Pantera in 1995 instead of Down. After all Pantera was the greatest heavy metal band in the world during this time. The same applies to the early 2000's period. Being in a famous rock band is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not many people are lucky enough to get this chance. Why Why Why did phil leave the band to work on Superjoint ritual. Who the hell, would listen to that over Pantera. Hardly anyone has ever heard of Superjoint Ritual.

Down, especially Nola album, rocks. Pantera was not only Dimebag, but even Phil brought into it good ideas. Then all fell down, because he got into heroin and also he got far from the band. But no one can deny Phil too is talented as hell for vocals
and metal.

All the stuff anselmo did with Pantera were legendary! But Down is just a whole other level.. I mean nobody will ever be a greater heavy metal band then Pantera but down's music is just so freakin raw and heavy!!! I don't even want to compare Down to Pantera because the fact is all Anselmo's project are legendary!!!!!!

They had to give up on Pantera(THERE BAND they created at like 15 together), because of intellectual property reasons, they couldnt even keep the name. Furthermore Phil was banned from Dimes funeral as one of Dimes wishes was to NEVER be in the same room as Phil Anselmo again.

If that happened i would lose all respect for Vinnie. As Phil was the whole reason pantera broke up. He holed up inb New Orleans, and would not talk to Dime or Vin. They eventually started writing the new Pantera album themselves, so Phil could come in and do vox later. Eventually they gave up on that for a number of reasons, Phil was a heroin addict, he wouldn't talk to them at all, and he's kind of an asshole in general.

So that you are aware Dimebag Darrell= Genius, Legend, God. To honour his memory they should have have a brief reunion (Phil, Vinnie + Rex) and put on a tribute show for DImebag. They could have a selection of guest guitarests to join in with them. Lets say for example, Slash, Zakk Wylde and maybe a few others........any other ideas???
And I don't to hear the usual 'No Pantera without Dime' bullshit. I've heard it all before. This would be a fucking TRIBUTE show- a one off

Not that we all wouldn't love to see such a tribute but I know how losing a sibling can solidify the resolve where grudges are concerned. The problem was made worse by the media after Dime's death who thought it would be a good idea to keep having interviews with Rita and stirring the shit. I appreciate her loss but she doesn't play anything and should have been left alone

@metratix No Pantera reunion, you just don't do that. Pantera happened and the people in the band and the fans had one hell of a great time, they wrote music history. They created legendary songs. Let's keep it at that, and remember it. Listen to it over and over again.
Just don't do a reunion, which will probably fail as well. Pantera can never be done over. It will sound like a cover band.

Think of this: Cliff Burton was a bass legend (best bassist ever). He was like a brother to James, Kirk and Lars in Metallica. Metallica could have broke up after he died but they didn't. So why the hell did Pantera not continue on with a new guitarist. Millions of fans have been really pissed off by this. Of course Dimebag was a guitar legend,a god, a genius and so on. But so is John Frusiante, Dave Mustaine and the Edge. Dimebag practically invented groove metal- his legacy.

The idea that anyone else could fill in is just as lame as the queen gigs without Freddie. There are tons of good UNDERGROUND bands out there. Reunions are only acceptable if the money goes to charity and there are original members. Avenged Sevenfold are whack in my opinion, not enaugh dirt in there.

Phi's attention should have been on Pantera in 1995 instead of Down. After all Pantera was the greatest heavy metal band in the world during this time. The same applies to the early 2000's period. Being in a famous rock band is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not many people are lucky enough to get this chance. Why Why Why did phil leave the band to work on Superjoint ritual. Who the hell, would listen to that over Pantera. Hardly anyone has ever heard of Superjoint Ritual.

I mean, I always loved Dime's guitar work, but as far as bands and songs and albums go, outside Pantera, I'll listen to Down and Superjoint Ritual more than Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel.
Btw, Hell Yeah was with Vinnie Paul. Dime had passed one by then.
Well, Dime and Phil have one tie-in outside Pantera: Anthrax. Both have appeared (seperately) on some songs.
