u sure its illigal to sell brownie eggs? my local shop sells em lol i just picked up a bunch of chinnie and brownie eggs for some christmass weekend western lake ontario steelheadin!! good video im going to try this out tommorow and next week ill let u know how it goes, tight lines!!
@wutangkid420420 Are you living in Southern Ontario? Or the states? I work at a tackle store, and it is 100% illegal to sell Brown Trout roe in Southern Ontario. If you are around here, huge fine, and the store will lose its bait license.
@canadianfisherman11 no just stream harden them for as ,much time as you feel is right, dont put them in drinking water, it has chlorine, you need natural water for lakes or rivers
Hey i need some tips on some cohos i have no idea what they will bite but i saw a guy catch em like crazy on eggs but i wonder if they will bite like vibrax's?
Where exactly can you buy the roe bags and thread? None of my local tackle shops have them and I tried Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops also and have not found them! Good video alos, very imforative!
@TheEliteFisherMan if you local bait and tackle doesnt have the mesh or the string just go to a place that sells frabric and buy the mesh there then use normal string to tie it (this is only if you cant find the right stuff)
@gistech Magic thread is a type of tying thread for roe bags. There are a few other types of tying threads out there. Stick with Magic thread... you can find it at local tackle stores, in there float fishing section. Don't use braid or mono, you will have trouble tying with it. All you do with the Magic thread is wrap a few times, pull, wrap a few times, tighten and break off. No knots needed.
mike, ive been trying to cure brown trout eggs over the last several months using this video as a guide and ive failed miserably. I boil the water, add the salt, let the mixture cool, then add my eggs and put the whole thing in the fridge. I let them sit the first time for 24 hours, the second time for 48 hours and each time after I remove them from the salt water and let them dry they turn to mush. please if you could add some insight on wat im doin wrong it would be greatly appreciated
@porforkid Hey man, i acually don't cure the eggs anymore... i find they work best without being cured, fresh! But if you would like to cure them, you can boil water, add salt until it doesnt disolve anymore, then let it cool, keep the eggs in until they can bounce, usually takes 24 hrs with brown trout eggs, salmon eggs takes longer, and then your done. Good luck, you dont need the second time, just the once is fine.
I just add salt in boiling water untill it stops disolving. and then i let it sit to room temp, then i put the eggs in, and let them sit in the water in the fridge untill they bounce. takes usuallly 1-2 nights
the brown was about 19 inches, we caught it in st catherines at a place called port dalhousie, ther were munch bigrr ones being caught tho, thanks for the comments!
Nice job!
