Trigger is interesting, but could be better - more simpler. Other than that big improvement would be using weight of the door instead of elastic band [crafting an heavy door bottom and let the gravity do the spring job].

You have to be careful, the mouses heart might go out when it hears the loud snap. Or it may die from the stress, or it will live and chew its way out! Remember Mice and Rats can chew through wood!

I was thinking that if the door closed from the outside...the critter could just push it open. Guess you'd have to make a latch. Might try that........

This is a very useful trap and seems simple to build. Most homemade traps require nails, hammers, or some type of wiring, but not all of that stuff is avalible at all times.
