Thanks for keeping Stonewall going for us, love his music, he had so many good tunes that you can't list them all. Saw Stonewall in the early sixties along with Marvin Rainwater in Ottawa, I was really young but loved both these singers even then and still remember it well.
Great sound...clear as a bell ... really enjoyed this oldie. I was left all my Dad's Country Music Albums when he passed, and I enjoy listening to them all...all the old greats...someone posted about B.J. the D.J. and I just played that yesterday! This is when you had to have real talent, not the reverberation chambers, or instruments so loud they drown the vocalist out. And they recorded with all the instruments and vocals in one room.
Hadn't heard this in a while .This is real country music!! Shot Jackson on 7 string Dobro really makes it for me . It's a shame that today's Dobro pickers don't or want tickle the strings like the Masters use to do.Stonewall was the man. His vocals were awesome. There was another song that I liked called B.J.the D.J. Loved that one too.
im learning this on guitar because my friend is doing a cabaret thing and she wanted me to play guitar for her while she sang this, i hope i dont screw up..

I love the old country music. One comment on here was "oh my god where is my beer" Country Music was never been to be made to rock to like the country music is today. It was meant to be easy listening, relate to, slow dance to, I miss the old country music like Lorretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Stonewall Jackson,Buck Owens, Patsy Cline, Willy Nelson, just to name a few. Im not saying I dont enjoy some of the new country but you cant beat the Old Country Mucis
@666DeathCon Amen!! You described my feeling totally,Classic Country- was the best there was and will ever be!!! Todays so called Country leaves a lot to be desired!

According to Wiki, SJ sued the G.O.O for 10 Mil: Jackson claimed that Opry general manager Pete Fisher stated that he did not "want any gray hairs on that stage or in the audience, and before I'm done there won't be any." Fisher is also alleged to have told Jackson that he was "too old and too country."[3] The lawsuit was settled on October 3, 2008 for an undisclosed amount and Jackson returned to performing on the show.[4]....(Hey Pete Fisher Taylor Swift sucks....and one day she'll be 75...

Stonewall does this song beautifully, and I never tire hearing it. He was a legend, and the youngsters could learn so much from watching and emulating his style.
Yes, this is the real thing. I have this c.d. somewhere and need to dig it out. It was one of my uncle's favorite songs. He died young, like the gifted ones often do. What a wonderful, endearing song. Stonewall Jackson's music will never die.
@Duddie82 Right on! I really love this song, and no one could do it better than Stonewall. It is truly a country classic. The younger C&W performers could learn so much from the previous generation of country music entertainers. I would like to see more singing and less dancing!

I saw Stonewall sing this song at the Flame Cafe in Minneapolis in the early 1960s. He was a young man, and so was I. I requested 'Smoke Along the Track,' and he loved it. Now, however, he is old, and so am I, and we both need to retire.
It's great to hear this edition of Don't Be Angry. I know the song best with Donna Fargo. It was a real country-buster in Denmark with Donna Fargo in the middle of the 70's.
My dad and I are HUGE fans of Stonewall Jackson. My dad used to sing his songs, while playing the guitar, all the time when I was a growing up. What wonderful memories from my childhood I will always cherish!!! Stonewall was to perform at the Crystal Coast Jamboree in Morehead City, NC July 26th. Unfortunately, something happened where he will not be able to perform. This breaks our hearts, but hope everything is alright with Stonewall! We're praying for you! Take care and God bless!!!
I've always loved the piano in this.

I remember my dad singing this song to my mother. She didn't see the humor in it. :) Growing up in the 1960's was such a different world.
