  • The one I use to have sounded more beast and the muffler just fell off. Also, my 3.1 Malibu sounds better.

  • Dude I like it, my 95 4.0 doesn't sound like that, I've gutted the high flow cat and now just straight pipe, has a cammed sound just puting along then loud as hell once I lay into it, lol, but I like yours, has a good hollow flowmaster sound

  • @6422m That 3.5l Ecoboost is a beast of an engine especially for a v6, If I had the cash to do it I would wait a year or two and buy a wrecked f150 and swap a Ecoboost into my old ranger.

    You get more power then the chevy 5.3L and Dodge 5.7L V8s but you get better fuel milage in a smaller more compact engine. Hard to beat that. Now if they would build an Ecoboost v8 haha.

  • @gangbang5able Actually on a 94 Ranger your 02 sensor is in front of the Cat and will Not throw the Check Engine light. I use to have a 95 Explorer with the same engine and exhaust is exactly the same as my 94 Ranger and I gutted the cats on it and put a Flowmaster super 44 on it and it didn't throw a code or mess with the engine at all. With that Flowmaster Super 44 That was the deepest v6 I have ever heard in person.

  • When you got rid of your cats was the O2 sencer before the cats or did you use a some thing to send a false code? I had a 95 Ex with the 4.0 and the cats were after the O2 sencer and didnt mess witht he computer when I gutted them. I ask cause I just got a 94 Ranger with the 4.0L and i havnt had a chance to climb under it yet do to the mud in my drive way. Its break up here in ALaska and the drive way is a mess lol.

  • @Bajaheat would have had a shit ton of torque and would have been decent on gas. Think about when people put v8s in rangers and s10s. They really aren't too bad on gas and I think the 4.9 was perfect for the ranger. The rangers torque in the engine is high in the rpms, the 4.9 would have it MUCH lower and in the useful "truck range" of torque rather the "car range" of torque.

  • i did a y pipe riht after the cat and across the gas tank gusset to come out both sides, right in front of the back wheels. sounds so sick and in the winter when it gets -40 C and you stomp on it, you see what looks like the sickest burnout ever in your rearviews haha

  • try puttin it in nuetral then takin out of 4 wheel drive

  • Youll have to disconnect it manually and find out whats wrong in the computer, the electronics, or the transfer case

  • @fireamracing You can try driving backwords about 20 feet, you shouldnt have to unless you are running manual hubs though but its worth a shot.

  • You can run striaght pipes but dont cut off the sencers or it will run like dooky and get bad gas mileage

  • I got a 1974 ford f-100 with a 360. mostly bone stock with 3" pipes all the way back with 40 series flowmasters. Now that's a loud mofo.

  • lol Geo was owned by GM. Headquarters were in Detroit. I passed by it before it closed in early 1998. It was a joint American/Japanese manufacturing.   • cut off the cats and have a pipe connected to the headers where the cat was bolted on, then on that pipe put a super 40 or 44 serious on that and have it come out as a side pipe, thats what i did to mine and sounds just like this and mines a 96' 4.0 with K&N intake

  • no, the computer only reads off of the o2 sensors before the catalytic converters that way it can adjust the air/fuel ratio properly. the only reason there are o2 sensors after the cats is so the the computer knows that they are doing their job. they affect nothing with the engine

  • The super 44 is a nice sound once the truck is warmed up. Its deep but not really noticable from far away until about 3500 rpm and sounds shitty at 5500. I have it on my lifted ranger and its a nice subtle rumble but thats about it.

  • you do know that a full length tailpipe will make more power than just a turndown it all comes down to backpressure to little back preassure will kill power output in any internal combustion engine and since you have a free flowing muffler and no catalytic converter its a pretty safe bet that you have to little back pressure a tailpipe could remedy that and could possibly gain you 10-15% more power over what you have now

  • Truthfully I don't think that sounds that good. It sound like a 4cyl. Sounds good at idle, but not when you rev it. Maybe get some clips of it under load (driving). My car doesn't sound good when I rev it, but when I floor it from a stop it loud and deep.

    I like how TX has no emissions. NYS sucks, I gutted the cat on my previous S10 Blazer. Too raspy IMO. The exhaust drone at steady speeds was annoying. (I'm 30yrs.)

  • I think it's a bit too raspy and has no backpressure to cackle. put any type of glasspack on there and it will sound badass.
