  • I have too, I do remember Stephen Lee played that shot before, but I can't remember who it was against or when. Still, I mean one memory of another player doing this shot, still doesn't make it a regular occurance in the game I also have to say. I have to say in the respect he has titled this video is correct, especially when you consider the type of player Alex Higgins actually was, and one being a very attacking player, so, yes, this would be an unusual shot to see him play.

  • What a humdinger

  • Disappointing video the title makes it sound good..

  • @larwhelan errr it's a video of Alex Higgins playing an unusual shot to beat Steve Davis ... sorry that the title confused you so much and wasn't clear enough for you....maybe i should have added that they play with cues and the table is green too ... i really must try harder

  • @kingtut147 Well when you say unusual shot to beat steve davis it makes it sound like a pot, and the commentator called it before he even took the shot so what's so unusual about it?? it might not be played too often but how often are players in that position?

  • @larwhelan you've answered your own question

  • @kingtut147 I haven't actually the shot isn't what's unusual the situation is! but either way disappointing video

  • @larwhelan yeah it's not unusual at all...you see players playing for angle all the time...hardly a frame goes by without it happening ... good fucking grief *palm / forehead slap*

  • @kingtut147 But he has a really good point as where did he beat steave davis in this then?

  • @MYBIGKINDHEART when he potted the pink ... did i say the match? no..you THOUGHT the match though - bit of advice for you...don't open emails claiming to be from a Nigerian Prince...things aren't always as they appear - it's called 'marketing'.

  • to play the snooker on the angle was the only shot he had on , even then he didnt play it that well leaving the pink over the pocket made a bigger target for davis to hit.

  • oh yes I remember these times where the players were on cocaine while playing to be more focused and concentrated... there were no doping controls .

  • When Davis potted the blue, maybe he could have screwed across to disturb the pink?

  • @herbsmanofillrepute looked like he tried that but just missed to me

  • @herbsmanofillrepute i think the blue was much too thin

  • superb ball control

  • ha ha I remember watching this with my (irish) dad and him calling Alex and "aweful eejit" for leaving the pink over the corner pocket!!

  • It was a Hum Dinger! (if that means it was good!)

  • In todays snooker rules when davis didnt hit the pink a Foul and a MISS would have been called. !

  • I share the late Alex Higgin's disability. I too, am a camp runner. 0:11

  • @johann99 Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do when the off-licence closes in five minutes

  • "After headbutting the tournament director" LOL

Gives a proper impression of what yob Alex Higgins was.

  • @sooperfukker Yeah and you're a faggot that says 'yob'.

  • 4:34, that's the worst cueing I have ever seen!!

  • @ArsenalTomas how many world champiionships have u won?

  • @ufewl How many did Ted Lowe win? He was still the most respected snooker expert, so don't try to be clever you cuntface.

  • Your dam right about that, these guys in the 70's, and 80's set the benchmark of what it is 2day......... But I do agree with you in one thing is that they were a lot more Charismatic and on the same Token they played to Entertain the growd. The players of 2day are great but a bit more ROBOTIC..... The only player that held a cue that was the best Ever was only one Man... Walter Lindrum.

  • Im 25 grew up watching snooker and was led to believe by the commentators today that todays players are so much better than the 80s but thanks to youtube I had a good chance to watch these guys and would say there everybit as good as todays players and much more charismatic. Especially jimmy I only remember watching him in the 90s but seeing footage of him in the 80s on here and he was magic!!

  • @doberman830 dead right, the players in the past were characters, the new breed of player bored the death out of you. However it was higging who was the best of the lot, better than white, I loved watching the guy, he was a showman, i would be on the edge of my seat every shot because with all his fidgeting and nervous energy you didn't think he was going to pot a ball. He seemed to generate an electric atmosphere, the game was never the same without him it kinda died.

  • the scumbag was hammered by a genius !!

  • wouldve gone for the one cushion escape personally.

  • @JalandharShere looking at where the pink is in relation to the pocket, there may have been a greater chance of a double kiss or possibly even an in off going one cushion. I think he figured angle of approach off two cushions gave a better chance of the pot.

  • I always thought this was the Chinese Snooker.obviously not

  • humdinger

  • john spencer called the shot. legend. he was always so quick to think of the best shot.

  • Who says gettingv a snooker on pink and black is hard, the hurricane did the job.

  • @misterdj29

Aye but he got pumped in the end!!!

  • Jaw Snooker

  • steve davis looks like a snob :D

  • r.i.p hurricane higgins

  • Being angled is rare and it usually happens by fluke. Playing for the angle isn't seen too often.

  • @Kidsgrove49 you're right...very rare..i can't think of ever seeing it since

  • @kingtut147 I've seen it a few times actually.

  • @SimpVeggie oh here we go ... as i say to the other ones ... when, where, show me? oh no...you can't...

  • @SimpVeggie another teenage 'know-it-all'

  • @SimpVeggie I have too. I remember Stephen Lee playing that shot.

  • @TheParanormalFootage about as likely as something 'paranormal' been true...yawn

  • @TheParanormalFootage another "...yeah, i saw it once blah blah" ....once again i say when and where...probably the day when i saw a fucking UFO or some other 'strange' experience

  • Comment removed

  • @TheParanormalFootage no you weren't 'just making a comment' you were making a snide comment implying that this is a common shot in snooker when clearly it isn't. As I've said before to other prats who claim this shot 'happens all the time', tell me when and where and I'll take it back....oh no..you can't can you??? Good Night JV

  • @kingtut147 It's only in your head that I was being snidey. The shot is quite rare and I agree with you that it's rare. You could watch thousands and thousands of frames and never see one. Yet, I remember Stephen Lee playing that shot so I thought I would mention it as I thought it was relevant. Good morning.

  • @TheParanormalFootage no...you started by agreeing with SimplyVegHead's comment that 'i've seen it quite a few time actually' - had you simply said what you've just said now then i'd agree with you - you may have seen it 'once' but that is not 'a few times'(implication being that it's common place) Why didn't you just say something like 'actually i think i recall seeing Stephen Lee play it but i can't remember where or when' - that i can accept

  • @kingtut147 Fair point. I guess I should of written it that way but I was just keeping it short and didn't realise you were going to misinterpret me. I'm not taking the piss but didn't Dominic Dale played that shot once?

  • @Kidsgrove49

Well it's pretty much impossible nowadays as the cloths are so fine the ball would simply topple in.

  • @Kidsgrove49 It hardly ever happens that you are left in such an easy place that you can do it like this.

  • unusual*

  • Great Player

  • this was 1987 mate

  • R.I.P

  • great
