@26psyside There are much worse things in around the world. I know this speakers don't deserves crap mp3s quality... But what to do when I lack of FLAC?
@Blizzard4242 aww.. I dunno. I just asked my friend's "think tank", that I'm looking for some good speakers. And this brand, I mean ADAM, came out. Maybe his think tank is influenced by the fact, that they are all composers. And I accepted this brand with enthusiasm, because of its hi-tech look. Tweeter looks so fantastic to me, carbon diaphragm, double bass reflex, I just love it.
And the sound quality of course. Till I have these ones, I tought I don't like highs.
Maybe they should be a little bit further from me, but I'm limited by my room and a desk. I thought about some standers, but they are so dangerous, because center of gravity is so high then and this makes them very unstable (speakers are very heavy).
I heard some story, when a cat was climbing up the curtains and felt right to the speakers dropping them down... scary!
And also expensive.
But if you are counting they are near/midfield, this distance is not bad.
@alifalafel well, i'd say the adam a8x count more to the midfield range, and yeah, that's a danger but if you don't have cats or people who walk in a certain area, you can use standers without a problem. The advantage would be that you could put them higher, since speakers work ideally in a 30° angle to your face while having the tweeters at head level
I just bought two Adam A8X's myself, and i've just connected them with my PC via Unbalanced RCA on the back of the Adam's, through the Jack output of my Soundblast soundcard.
Now, the DACMagic caught my attention, but i am wondering.
Is it really worth the money? Since my Adams are 3 ft. away from my PC.
Will it really improve the sound quality that much, connecting them via SPDIF to the DAC, and then with XLR to the Adams?
At first I wanted to remove low-quality onboard sfx DAC (you know, jitters or lowbit/lowfreq signal etc.), so than I was looking for some mid/hi-quality DAC and I've found this one. Good rewies and some awards spoke in their favour.
I've never heard this speakers in any other audiochain configuration than my own and I have to say I'm very satisfied.
pff lame

I have 2 Adam A8X's for about 9 months now.
I just use them in my room for PC speakers and as monitors for my DJ set. (On a Pioneer DJM-400 mixer)
First of all, the sound quality is amazing, but they are definitely midfield.
They need to be at least 10 feet away from you, to hear there full range. Especially for the low's.
I have them on a simple tripod stand. Costs, 60 euros for two. They hold them just fine.
Downside, when played at high volume, you can really hear the wind from the bassport.

@alifalafel why didn't you just buy hi-fi speakers when you're not producing with these?

@alifalafel well.. at least you have a good story for it! :)

@Blizzard4242 Well, I know you're right. A8X deserves little bit more space... but I don't have it :(
