Not really. That "Extraordinary" crap was made to cash in on all of the nitwits that missed her the first time. She had to really dumb down her lyrics and change her look in order to appeal to the moronic tween/frat masses. Bored kids with no taste and Mommy and Daddy's cash is now her key demo, and frankly, she can have them.
My understanding is that she did the Avril sound alike thing to get money to raise her kids after her divorce. You may think it is smarmy but kids come before your PUBLIC reputation. Anyway, apparently today is her b-day and a re-issue of "Guyville" will be out in June (per her My Space page). In the end, we shouldn't make judgements w/out facts.

The entire basis for your argument is as substantive as Liz Phair's last album. The reasons she offered up for changing her sound in that article (for the kids, wanting mainstream acceptance, she digs Marines) all boils down to money. Money. That was all she had to say. Instead, she tried to hide behind her kids and said she wanted to appeal to an audience who never listened to her in the first place. I am a fan of her earlier work but those reasons sound phony and pathetic.

Nice lesson for the kids? How holier than thou are you? She made a decision that worked for her. If your so concerned about integrity get involved in politics, it could use some. The last line of the post I commented on made it seem like you had moved (i.e. about her new key demo...she can have them). So move on.

The entire basis for your argument is as substantive as Liz Phair's last album. The reasons she offered up for changing her sound in that article (for the kids, wanting mainstream acceptance, she digs Marines) all boils down to money. Money. That was all she had to say. Instead, she tried to hide behind her kids and said she wanted to appeal to an audience who never listened to her in the first place. I am a fan of her earlier work but those reasons sound phony and pathetic.

Liz Phair should have been a big star and 'Exile' should have been a huge hit, but she was ahead of her time and it didn't happen.
Later, others ripped off her sound, and it was the right time, and they made millions. Now she wants to come back and rip off the people who ripped her off: well Good For Her!
Liz: take care of your kids, get a nice house, put some money in the bank and, when you're secure, come back and make an album, from your heart, for your old fans.

Totally agree, she was far ahead of her time.
I must admit though I hadnt heard of her until her Matrix album but when I got that I went back and bought her older albums which I like even more.
So, yeah, I like all her music.

The 90's. Oh how I miss the 90's... Her voice is absolutely amazing and perfectly matches this song. I Love it! I just wish that Liz would of stayed Alternative Rock... Oh well I guess. Still a great song! And yes I came here because of VH1. ;)
