  • i love that some bullshit guy on VH1 says "this was blaring out of every chick's dorm room," and now everyone on the comments pretends like it's there original insight into the song...

  • Liz is forever awesome, but i kinda miss this Liz though sometimes,i love this sound! lol

  • Muito bom!

  • I love this performer .

  • could be the greatest thing i've ever seen.

  • I'm from Nashville, TN and this looks like it was filmed at the conservatory at Opryland Hotel.

Talented, but stupid. Yeah, I said stupid. She could have been a huge star. Seems she was more interested in appearing tough than just putting out great music.

Keep your cliches as I like tough, original music. But, nonsense like "White Hot Cum" and others like that....c'mon, what's the point of such silliness?

  • @SuperDrJeckyl This video was filmed in Chicago, I believe at a greenhouse in Garfield Park. There's a lot of reasons Liz didn't become more successfull. I have to admit, the idea that she wanted to remain "tough" is a new one on me. In any case, a song like W.H.C. ironically appeared on an album that was seen as Liz's bid for pop superstardom. This particular song never got radio airplay for obvious reasons, but the songs that did were radio friendly and meant to be hits. They were not.

  • i would kill to spend one minute inside her turd cutter

    oh that wonderful shit pipe!

i can smell it from here!

    come here lizzie :)

  • She is so beatiful....

  • I want a fender duo sonic (guitar in this video) but they only have em for like 1000 dollars near me fml

  • @BORNTORUNANDALIVEMAN It's a Mustang not a Duo-Sonic...

  • @ombelicodivenere aaahhhh k thanks!!

  • I think i liked Exit to Guyville more than the next 2 albums. BUT LUV LIV!!

  • i love that she can still be "clean as a whistle" with an exceptionally lower voice for a girl :) she looks a little drugged out in parts of this, but...still rocks hard and carries a great tune. and her guitar is siiiiiick!

  • You don't usually see a song get popular when the woman's voice sounds like that. People usually go for the soprano.

  • yes! that 90's sound im looking for and will ALWAYS love.^_^

  • best '90s indie rock video

  • man love this tune,i miss the 90's.forever the greatest era.

  • Liz is so HOT !

  • Gosh! I miss the old Liz.

  • She must have said SOMETHING...

  • Dont let your guitar get wet! ;)

  • Ah the 90s....

  • This was an awesome album! Liz at her best!

  • The great thing about this track is that, even though it's incredible, it's not even the best on the album.

  • Gorgeous song.

  • sexy

  • this song is so fantastic, but for some reason i do not like the music video as much as i like just hearing the song.

liz phair is not a 90s thing, she is an always thing.

  • Comment removed

  • She's so frickin' attractive it hurts my face! The ideal woman by far. Oh my gosh.... her voice, her lips, her attitude. The 90's are coming back next year. 20 year cycle. (2010 - 20yrs = 1990!! ). Liz Phair and the spirit of the 90's will prevail!

  • This was the real Liz .

  • There is no such thing as a "chick song " it's either good or bad or you like it or hate it.

  • i used to like liz phair, now she is just a sellout.

  • If she's sellin' I'm buyin'

  • well its good that she still has some loyal fans.

  • Ah well lookit her how can u not be a fan ha ha! I hear ya though not really up on most any of her stuff since Whip-Smart just a couple of old gfs' used to like her alot so that was pretty much the extent of my loyalty.

  • she's a sellout?

I thought she had like, two semipopular songs that lasted a little while and nobody really knew any of her other shit.

    I like her.

  • She's been one of the most consistently excellent artists of the last 20 years or so.

  • ah. I've loved her for as long as i knew her but i didn't know she was ever really popular. the oldest i ever got into the 90s was seven though so i dont really blame myself for not realizing that anything on the radio was hers, or good for that part. when i was a kid i listened to disney soundtrack shit and nothing but.

  • Even though it's kind of really a chick song, I like it. :D

  • Liz Phair, the original gRrrrl.

  • "never said nothing" is a double negative.

    meaning, she DID say something

  • Her music remind you of the old days. Good old 80's and 90's

  • Liz Phair will always be clean as a whistle in my book :) This was the song every indie/alt-rock Grrl/ Womyn in HS and college was blaring out of their V-dub Bug or dorm room. Its still an amazing tune 15+ years on...

  • well said.

  • @brockdanger76

wasnt that what someone said when this song was on vh1's best songs of the 90's

  • @mely8hany yea they did, they probabaly just repeated it.....loser

  • @brockdanger76 SO0o0o true!!!! Well said!

  • @brockdanger76 wasnt what u just said outta some vh1 special?? wtf

  • @brockdanger76 Well, she turned me on when I was 5, which is either a remarkable accomplishment or just really sick.

  • i was -1 year old when this song came out... It kicks ass, and so does she! xD

  • where is she... the bio-dome?

  • Comment removed

  • I think I'm in love...

  • THIS is why she is still and always will be so bad ass!

    shonuff.

  • i love this bouncey little number, oh & liz is not bad too"

  • Damn, she was gorgeous in 1993. Too bad i was only four when this song came out.

  • Four. Ha. I was twenty.

  • and I was -2 years old, if you know what I mean

  • sick fucking song

  • She genuinely had fun when she made this video.. you can see it in her face. Love it!

  • this is one of the best videos by liz and she dosn't need to stop singing

  • Liz Phair is awesome. HANDS DOWN. my aspiration.

  • Exile in Guyville is one of my 'stranded on a desert island' albums! Amazing!

  • She looks really young in this video...but I love this song. I can't get it out of my head!

  • yea...this song is really slutty if ya think about it...but yea...i agree...nice song...

  • i luve this song this is like my theme song

  • dude listen to this...she is a to talent ass clown

  • 1.copy this message

2.hold your breath and paste to another video if you can then you are a great kisser

  • damn she's cute!

  • I have no problem with Liz selling out. I will still be loyal to her becasue she deserves her riches becasue of this brilliant work that would have never heard the light of day in the 21st century without her current success. I am just proud that I was a huge fan of hers back in these days..and still am

  • thank you..you took the words out of my mouth!!!:)

  • I have a problem with her selling out, because she doesn't have a problem with it. She didn't care for her fan base, and I know that is a pretty childish thing to say but she offended her fans. And if it weren't for the fans where would any artist be? You gotta respect your fans.

  • Your right Antartica. It is Childish to say that. She could have sold out 15 years ago,but didn't. Shes in her early 40's now and has a family. Had she stayed on the coarse she was on. Her material would just not sell as well. She has earned the right to whatever she has to do to keep herself relevent. Don't you think she deserves that? I don't think she deserves to have fans like you turn your back on her. Parenthood changes you. I am not the same person I used to be because of it either

  • No! She sold out because she was a one-hit wonder. If she would have worked hard on her music, then she could have stayed the course like so many other artist do, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, The Cranberries, and a gizillion others. And how do you know if her material would not have sold well, if she stayed the course. And she hasn't earned the right to do whatever she wants in the music industry because she is a one-hit wonder,

  • We can agree to disagree. one Hit Wonder? I think Never Said, Super Nova and Polyester Bride received very adequate airplay. How could she have stayed the course and continue to write about her dirty Sexcapades. It was all good when she was young and wild, but she's not angry anymore. What has Alanis done since 'Thank You" that was relevant or the Cranberries. You really exactly like an Angry Metallica fan when they changed.

  • I hate you. ha. just kidding. We can agree to disagree.

  • I was a Liz fan then and I am still her fan. Sure I preferred her older stuff, but I will back her no matter what she does. Good for her if she gets a little more coin for her work these days. Her dues have paid in full

  • Check out my Mission to Save the World (troop support Song) video on youtube. Liz Phair would be amazing singing this song--But I sing it for now...

Half the download proceeds to Military charity..

  • All I know is I'm clean as a whistle baby.

    best line ever.

  • LIZ ROX!

  • I want those pink shorts. So cute.

(Although I would probably look like an ass wearing them.)

  • I agree 100% and I still love it.

  • why is Exile in Guyville one of the best albums ever? can anyone tell me? WHY DO I LOVE IT SO MUCH?

  • It's fucking good. I never skip any of the tracks...18? quality tracks.

  • When I was little, I thought this song was annoying, repeatative (sorry for the spelling), and very very good!

  • i like this music video by Liz Phair. it's simple and not over dramatic with elaborate costumes, lights, etc. i mean this in a good way... they don't make music vids like this anymore (still wish they did!)

  • her happy mood puts a smile on my face.i love this song and i love liz

  • My Fave Liz Phair song. Get this song stuck in my head 4 days - Mmmmmmmmm Nice.

  • i love the 90's

    =D

  • these are the kinds of music videos they don't make anymore... (sigh) i wish more of todays music vids were more like this!

Liz rocks and she looks so pretty in this video!

  • yay! my fave song from "Exile in Guyville"! :)

looks like Liz had a lot of fun filming this music video!

  • love this song

    fuckin great..

    fuck all the haters!!

  • fuckin' great album

  • Exile is one of the top ten ground breaking albums of all time. she did it with 3 grand. unbelievably great. just an aside she is a MILF....LOL

  • ha i lover this song and liz phair. shes so badass!

  • YAY!!!

15th anniversary edition of "Exile" will be released on June 24th. Pretty sweet!

  • oooh man, i just loved her deep voice. it was nice to hear a female who didn't have a squeaky high pitched voice. good song.

  • There's something about tiny ladies with deep vocals. Sexy... Sexy...Sexy...

  • or maybe its her eyebrows..lol

  • Agree 100%.

  • hmm my opinion is that this song is OK but not the best i have heard

  • Technically if she says: "I never said nothing.", she did say something. :D

  • she is alot hotter now than she used to be.

  • I sorry to say this but, I'd leave my lady for this woman!

  • i like this song

  • Dammit she's fucking hot.

  • Dammit she's fucking hot.

  • Yes, she is.

  • So much better than anything else out today. Too bad she sold out.

  • y'know...I would really like to do her.

  • She's cute, in a punk/alt white girl, way.

  • she is soo cool

  • Always loved this great song. Great record.

  • The only 40 year old woman who could easily pass 19 and also makes good music

  • You could make a good case for Bjork as well.

  • another great artist

  • LOL Bjork could easily pass for 19? What are you smoking?

  • Fiona Apple?

  • She was only in her late 20's when she wrote this album.

  • Excellent. This is the real Liz Phair.

  • if your referring to "extraordinary", thats her making music that her kid could listen to, this her kid cannot listen to.

  • Not really. That "Extraordinary" crap was made to cash in on all of the nitwits that missed her the first time. She had to really dumb down her lyrics and change her look in order to appeal to the moronic tween/frat masses. Bored kids with no taste and Mommy and Daddy's cash is now her key demo, and frankly, she can have them.

  • Agreed 100%. She used to be cool, edgy, and completely unapologetic about her music.

Now she's suburbia in the flesh. But she's making a living, so whatever.

  • My understanding is that she did the Avril sound alike thing to get money to raise her kids after her divorce. You may think it is smarmy but kids come before your PUBLIC reputation. Anyway, apparently today is her b-day and a re-issue of "Guyville" will be out in June (per her My Space page). In the end, we shouldn't make judgements w/out facts.

She grew up in Winnetka, IL. Not exactly an edgy place more a privileged place.

  • You have missed the point. Whatever the reasons she decided to go "mainstream", the end result is clear. The music she has recently created is awful. Any true fan will tell you that her earlier work was superior to what she is peddling today. By the way, I read that article as well and you and Liz can save that "for the kids" crap for the tourists. I think it is interesting that you think it is okay to completely sell out (not grow) if the price is right. Nice lesson for the kids.

  • Arsenio,

Nice lesson for the kids? How holier than thou are you? She made a decision that worked for her. If your so concerned about integrity get involved in politics, it could use some. The last line of the post I commented on made it seem like you had moved (i.e. about her new key demo...she can have them). So move on.

P.S. Notice how these recent posts are about how hot she is. Half these people aren't even listening to the music. Welcome to the 21st Century.

  • The entire basis for your argument is as substantive as Liz Phair's last album. The reasons she offered up for changing her sound in that article (for the kids, wanting mainstream acceptance, she digs Marines) all boils down to money. Money. That was all she had to say. Instead, she tried to hide behind her kids and said she wanted to appeal to an audience who never listened to her in the first place. I am a fan of her earlier work but those reasons sound phony and pathetic.

  • Liz Phair should have been a big star and 'Exile' should have been a huge hit, but she was ahead of her time and it didn't happen.

Later, others ripped off her sound, and it was the right time, and they made millions. Now she wants to come back and rip off the people who ripped her off: well Good For Her!

Liz: take care of your kids, get a nice house, put some money in the bank and, when you're secure, come back and make an album, from your heart, for your old fans.

    Arsenio: Grow Up!

  • Totally agree, she was far ahead of her time.

I must admit though I hadnt heard of her until her Matrix album but when I got that I went back and bought her older albums which I like even more.

So, yeah, I like all her music.

  • LOL, stop talking as if that shitty self titled album sold millions more than it's predecessors, she just sold out miserably and in mainstream world she is barely a one hit wonder, one that not many people remember.

  • arsenio beckman, your arguments are weak and just cause you didnt like her newer stuff doesnt mean you can assume she did something jsut for money, if she did it for her kids and didnt want to do the music like this song, get over it.

  • WOW!...I 'never' knew there was a video!...thanks!

  • I really gotta hand it to her, she really accomplished something great with this record, and even though she might be getting more "fame" now, theres no way I'd give her half the recognition nowadays for her new material.

  • Exile In Guyville is the most awesome record, start to finish, thats ever been recorded....buy it!!! Liz Phair is so damn sexy,lol...who cares about when it came out, its awesome

  • liz phair is such a babe.

  • Yeah it was 1993. It doesn't seem that long ago though. Man, time flies.

  • Her actions are very in-your-face. I love that!

  • damn how old is this song/video? i've never heard of it

  • She was really popular in the early 90s. I think this came out in 1993.

  • Exile in Guyville was such a great feakin' redorc!

  • You know those songs that r annoying, but good...this is one of them.

Annoying part: the "I never said nothing" repetition.

  • i just love it! :D

  • cool

  • All I fucking know is that Ms Liz Phair rocks.

  • Your review says it all. Oh AND she rocks!

  • i think she alwys looks pretty and is a great singer!

  • she's really good.

  • Dude, this is a video from the 90's

  • ???YA NOTICE how she seems to have that early 70s look down pat?Ithink its part of the charm of the vid

  • in this video? kinda but check her out now, smokin hot

  • I wouldn't say she looks ugly, just it definately was the 90's style. haha. she's always been gorgeous though.

  • Yea WAY too low on the vh1 coundown. This was like the chick national anthem of the 90s

  • lol I also think that this song should have been way closer to number one than what it was. What was it ranked at like 92 or 91? Yeah, thats not cool.

  • its number 89 on the list

  • to the comment below me, i saw this on that vh1 countdown too lolz

  • The 90's. Oh how I miss the 90's... Her voice is absolutely amazing and perfectly matches this song. I Love it! I just wish that Liz would of stayed Alternative Rock... Oh well I guess. Still a great song! And yes I came here because of VH1. ;)

  • omg shes so friggin hot lol

  • Agreed!
