I remember as watching hockey as a kid. I watch hockey now, and it makes me want to cry. The only way I will become an avid fan like I was as a kid is if the NHL and Gary Bettman comes to it's senses. I mean it really makes me want to cry. The Americans took something priceless and made it into a cheese burger from Mcdonalds. The NHL reminds me of a cheeseburger meal from Mcdonalds now days. I have hardly any interest any more because of this ridiculous wet dream that Gary Bettman has.
The NHL's BOG needs to shoulder the blame too. They approved Wang and Kumar as owners of the Islanders; and Kumar has been convicted of fraud. They approved the owners of the Wild, and now one of them is being investigated by the FBI. They approved the shares that the Ontario teacher's pension plan owns of the Leafs. Let's not forget that the BOG approved of Hicks ownership of the Stars. Bettman has made mistakes (Phoenix and Miami) but not all the league's problems should be blamed on him.
Bettman needs to stop dragging his feet and admit that this "south experiment" was a horrible idea. 4 of the 5 worst attendance teams are some of the ones he brought in this league(Panthers, Blue Jackets, Thrashers, Coyotes). Why the hell did he move the Nordiques or the Jets? It doesn't make the least bit of sense. SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE BETTMAN!
American don't like him either. Don't know why he's trying to americanize the sport if there's even such a thing. Putting a team in Phoenix Arizona is just completely stupid. States like Arizona are only good for football & basketball. If anything he's killing the sport, killing it badly. Instead of putting teams where they won't make money, send them to where the will..you know where they came from. And maybe just maybe that might bring in some income to get deals with networks in the states.

5th best team in the league in phoenix and they were still 30th in attendance. they sold out 8 of 45 home games over the regular season and playoffs, at least half of those sell outs coming from red wings fans.

There will be music in the streets we will have a national holiday, with a moment of silence, to comemorate the passing of the biggest asshole ever to be involved in the game. im so glad phoenix was beat out and when the habs play the sharks and get screwed in the ass once again it will be obvious.
He talks about not wanting to take teams away from their cities but that's exactly what he did to Winnipeg. It seems like he's fighting to keep the Coyotes in Arizona a lot harder than I'm sure he did to keep them in Winnipeg..
