this wouldn't work...dinosaurs lived in a time when the percentage of oxygen to nitrogen in the air was different... they simply wouldn't be able to breath and would suffocate after they hatched...

Far more interesting to map their genome at least that way we find out what their closest living relative on earth is today. And we can do that today...we don't need crazy sci-fi ideas.

Maybe they should watch Jurassic Park before recreating dinosaurs. I wouldn't mind a few plant eating dinosaurs but if they create meat eaters that would be bad for everyone. unless they find an isolated island like in the movie.

1. Why make a dinosaur when they already exist to this day in full size? Again and again we keep finding things that were supposed to have been dead millions of years ago.

@myassin2009 Others that are similar. Like in west Africa there is a type of reptile lizardlike (not at all related to the one from the Galapagos islands. I stepped around the corner of an old building and nearly stepped on it. It's neck was the size of my waste and its body about 10 ft long, back with red splotchy speckles on it, (younger ones colored speckles change) Scared the lights out of me. It took off for the water and when it hit it swam like a torpedo. My dad saw even bigger than that.

In fact if we couple that with genomics and send the data off to craig venter...we can rebuild a dinosaur. But it will be more than 10 years before we can do that.

@miro995 atmospheric conditions are retained in minerals for one thing... along with that many elements have isotopes. Those isotopes are either stable or radioactive... by comparing the quantity of radioactive to stable isotopes of a given gaseous element in sedimentary rock strata the atmospheric makeup when they were laid down can be derived.

People don't need to experience things personally to know its there. Human senses are pretty crude tools anyway....

@toolkills It can be used as an isolated prison on a secluded island. Only the worst of the worst prisoners will be sent there. Like rapists, child molesters, and murderers. It wouldn't be like many prisons with walls. Instead the island will be filled with meat eating dinosaurs. I'm sure if the criminals r determined to leave the island they can build a raft and someday leave but they probably wouldnt make it more then a few days with all the dinosaurs around them.
