The wise England manager built his team around fighting men like Butcher, Pearce and Robson.
The foolish England manager built his team around David Beckham (a nancy boy, who has proven over and over again that he simply is not a world class player like Gazza once was)
Once upon a time, to play for England you had to be an outstanding player.
Now, simply being English qualifies you for at least one England cap.
And a wage of £50k per week also gives an automatic place in the squad.
To say that is a little bit harsh, Fabio Capello has done a decent job so far, and he still includes Beckham, and to be fair, if we're not playing that great, and Beckham comes on the pitch as a sub, he does change how England play. His passing and dead ball play is of a world class standard, that you can not deny.
what did england win under butcher pearce and robson nothing. not saying gazza wasnt great but he never did the business at a great stage, went to lazio didnt really do anything thn took the easy road to rangers. beckhams proven himself more than gazza
Fair comment regarding Gazza. He did take the easy route, but I think he chose Rangers for the drinking culture in Glasgow rather than to play easier football (but maybe both??) Under Butcher, Pearce And Robson, England had their greatest achivement since 1966 in 1990 when they reached the semi final of the world cup - and they were damn close in 1986 too, a dream snatched away by Maradonna's infamous handball.
I honestly don't think we have any real hardmen or fighters left. Shame.
Good video, but it's pretty much just goals from the 1990's. Though saying that nothing good has come in the past decade apart from Gerrard and Beckham.
best england goal without a doubt is John Barnes v Brazil...i love Owens goal v Argentina but its not in the same league

The England team that went to the '68 Euro Champs. Finals have been VERY overlooked, IMHO.

@sextonqpr Yeah, I still think he's a great manager, just made a few mistakes in the world cup, it happens, we'll get over it.
