  • Loved your Levanger Norway time lapse. Can you share with me the kind of panning device you have and where I may buy one. I know nothing of these devices. Thanks and Happy New Year from Seattle, Washington. COINSMR

  • This is one of the best I've seen..Love the panning..Could you please share more about the timer switch?

I am clueless about it :)

  • @rizwanmithawala Thanks for stopping by:) I just placed the 24h timer switch in the window sill and started the script.

  • nice! thanks for posting.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • @usernamejpt thanks for stopping by

  • @rostern May I know which script did you use?

  • @usernamejpt I used a script called unlimited interval shooting. You can find it on the CHDK wikia page under the user-written scripts.

  • @rostern just Have to ask: 1.does one of the Parameters of the camera [like exposure & such] have to be Steady for time-lapse shots?

2.damn!what battery can survive for so long???

  • @eladbari 1.The parameters doesn't have to be steady, but it sure is an advantage, and will give the best results overall. For this timelapse i set the camera in aperture mode.

    2. I used a Canon power adapter, no batteries.

  • @rostern thanx for the kind reply :]

1.i guess as manual as u can get=the better! still, i feel like some parameters need to stay Constant throughout the shot..and some shouldnt. for example, Auto-focus should be off\or set to infinity...but exposure? it should maybe be auto? since u might have a sunrise..so it needs to change..right?

2.btw u used a kitchen cooking timer as the panning mechanism? :]

  • Det der var utrolig vakkert å se på!

  • @xXxMaariiaaxXx takk for det

  • Fantastic! My only complaint is that it's not offered in HD ;_;

  • @smashingparadox

It is if you read the video description:)

  • nice, now where is that setting to do a time lapse...

  • which script is that. thank you

  • @hodasdoisa

  • amazing

  • @pohgejib

    thanks! I appreciate it!

  • I absolutely love the panning. It really gave a smooth sense of wide open spaces.

I am impressed because that is what some of my time-lapse videos have lacked. I tried to manually get the pan once or twice, but it turned out too jerky in my effects.

    Excellent job!

  • Goood job! Perfect timing for the panoramic.

Can you tell me at how many picture per minute did you setted the camera?

  • @Blasterwastelander

Thanks! I appreciate it. I set the script to take one picture every 5 or 6 second i think, for a smooth timelapse. That gives you 12 pictures each minute

  • very nice! nice spot too...!

fun to see that i do the same system for the rotation without seeing your work...

  • very nice indeed!

  • thanks!

  • wonderful!!!!!!!!

  • Good job! I'm planing in doing something like this but would try a HDR, i watched some nice videos arroud.

How did you get the "rotating" moving effect? Is that a software edit (cut) on the pictures, or you have some rotating mount for the camera?

  • thanks! I used a 24h timer switch for the pan and mounted the camera on top of it.

  • hello eric,

Finally after a very tedious search and trying to install a intervelometer script on my canon powershot, i have miserably failed because i am not able to figure out how to install the intervelomenter script and use it

i use a canon SX1 Is and i have installed CHDK on my camera...

Could u please tell me how to install the intevelometer script ?

    thanks for your time..

    Sandeep

  • well I am not familiar with the SX1 but there should be a folder on your SD card named something like CHDK/SCRIPTS/. Try copy and paste the scripts you have to this folder. Also remember that If you are using a multipartition card, you have to make sure the scripts are on the large one, not the small one with the chdk boot files.

  • To activate a script, you have to open the Script menu (ALT mode + FUNC on my camera), navigate to the scripts folder, and select the script. To execute the script (i.e., to run it), just press the Shutter in ALT mode.

  • Watched it second time in HD, perfect work and choice of music!

  • thanks!

  • i just got a timer from opteka where i can set intervals and such just what i was looking for.. now just need to get more batteries :]

  • ok so did you have to push the shutter every picture or what i dont understand!! haha I have an xti

  • no, i just ran the unlimited interval script using CHDK, and the camera took the pictures by itself

  • so i cant do it with my xti they dont have the version on their site? unless you know of a different way

  • no you can't. CHDK doesn't work on DSLR and will probably never will...no interest form the coders...get a compact camera that is supported. Check the wiki site

  • Great job! Many thanks for this word: CHDK.

I was very close to buy a bracketing enabled camera, but I didn't even think to look for my A630 hack. That should be even better and will save me some money.

  • Hi

any chance of more info on the pan motor im trying to build one in a hurry as Im climbing in Chamonix in two weeks and would like to put on on a peak for the sunrise, your help would be very appiciated

    cheers

  • sounds cool, but I'm sorry I can't help you much.I used a simple 24h timer switch for the pan, just mounted the camera on top of it and shot away. Nothing fancy, more like a test to see if it would work. The obvious downside is that it's not exactly a portable device as it relies on power. Anyways, Good luck!

  • No worries just bought a 240 volt 1 rph motor/gearbox. Im going to try and fit a 12v motor for field use.

Pink Floyd always a good choice :-)

  • nice! love the music, who is it? how did you do the pan with time lapse?

  • thanks! Pink Floyd - Shine on you crazy diamond.

I used an ordinary 24h mechanical timer for the pan. It worked quite well.
