@NessaJTuNN Dolls were human, just like contractors, when the hell and heaven gates appeared and the stars and moon disappeared. Dolls are humans who lose their emotions but gain the ability to be a medium for a spirit, those blue things. Yin is the exception however as she shows signs of emotions though at their very basic form, just like how Hei has emotions despite being a contractor, they are special. So in short yes dolls are humans, they simply do not have a personality at all, Yin aside.

There is no specified rule that they do not have emotions its simply their typical behavior brings about that idea. Hei has a full range of emotions however, as in he isn't affected emotionally or mentally by his contract. Its more accurate to say he isn't a contractor but rather just a guy with powers since he doesn't have a "price" to pay.

@NessaJTuNN yeah,Hei's special condition does get explained later.anyway the big thing between contractors and dolls is that dolls barely even have a soul.they're dead-pan and can get programed like how Huang said in last ep that Yin was given basic survival skills.depends on who it is, but contractors r normally more human-like. they're said to be emotionless but really it's more a lack of things like love happiness sadness etc. they still can have rage shock etc all depends on who it is.

This song, I believe was purposely writted to imitate that song, as the title is French for "Moonlight" This is not a mere coincidence, I promise you. God damn, her story is so tragic.
