the second sounded like a more mechanical version of the Moose MPI-25 i have in my Mom's house. it's really loud/scary at 145db, and it's unnecessarily loud, considering it's almost directly outside my bedroom door :P.

After all, in my world, if someone asks their parents if they can do something like add on to their house or install another branch circuit, they shouldn't expect them to say "Yes, dear"
the wiring is ran behind the wall, and you mount everything on electrical boxes just like a switch or outlet. It really isn't any different than installing smoke detectors or any other electrical fixtures.

I wonder about that too. The only 2 things I can think of is bribing or threatening them, but I don't think that either one of those wopuld getyou anywhere. Possibly some reverse psychology??? :D

The siren model number is a Ademco\Honeywell 747F. Moose also made a similar one.
