"Quickly" and "reload" don't go together with this system. Drunkteen is dead on with the description. Supposedly there either will be or already is a VLS version of Seasparrow, but I don't know much about it.
Went on the Radford for a tech assist back in '91 when their TAS radar was down...it wasn't bad, but I was just visiting from the Ike.
The missile is individually loaded into each cell of the launcher. A removable rail is used as an interface between the missile and launcher. The lower side of the rail is fitted to the top of the missile and the upper side of rail mounts to the inside of a launcher cell. Both are lifted by a loading arm attached to the rear of the launcher and wings are then attached. The missile is then loaded with a hand crank. So to answer your question, reloading the launcher is not a very quick process.
I was on the Radford from 2000 to 2003,and it was one of the worst experiences of my life complete with the most horrible people alive.I for one am glad it is gone, but in my opinion, you need to sink the fucker.
@liw213 I was in OT division, but I found myself on plenty of tiger teams, helping Deck out. OT was in the same berthing as Deck too, so I probably knew you. CTR3 Higuet. And you??
You surface pukes have some bad-ass machines up there. The speed and maneuverability of that thing is ridiculous...look at that course change!
