What makes you soo sure that you know what happened? Were you there? Just remember, that (god forbid) your child is ever abducted or murdered, YOU will be the first suspect because parents almost always are, and try to imagine how you will feel if that happens. The father of Polly Klaus was the initial suspect in his daughter's disappearance too....but he was 100% innocent. If a child gets missed, the police will check the familiar situation and parents might be get suspects, that´s absolutely normal. In Crime Investigation the first rule is that you have to check the worst case and try to exclude it with facts. And i wouldn´t exclude the parents of madeleine, that´s my opinion.

These parents made a big mistake and have been paying for it since. We stayed in Praia da Luz in 1990, it may be a long while ago but I can relate to them feeling it would be safe enough for their children though I would still never have left mine alone particularly since babysitting options were available. I was just surprised that such educated and financially able people would not have taken these services offered. However I sincerely hope Madeline is alive and being cared for lovingly.
