He committed adultery on his wife, probably not the first time, just the first time he got caught. Same with Da Truth probably the only time he got caught.
Wow, the level of Hate towards 'Holy Hip Hop, Gospel Rap, Christian, etc.' whatever you want to call it is truthfully funny! When you look at all the hate Jesus received it kind of makes me smile and have hope that we're doing exactly what God desires. Paul says "we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." Acts 14:22 All I have to say is brothers let's keep glorifying GOD through the gift He has given us!!
More Craig Lewis nonsense, huh? We dispelled these myths long ago. Yeah....go to Rock Steady's website and you'll see that Craig's claims are far from the true history of hiphop. BTW....this just in....gentiles were grafted in without having to be circumcised. How can gentiles now force their grafted in gentile church culture on other gentiles!?!? Get biblical please!
well Lucifer ws the chief musician, so does that mean all music has it's origin in the devil, if not how much do we know @ the origins of the musical styles we
Okay, I'm trying to understand your point of view here. So let me see if I get this straight. We are to separate ourselves from the culture of hip-hop, correct? But rapping by itself is of no consequence. Do I understand you correctly?
I have already done research and cannot find much that separates hip-hop from other kinds of music. All kinds of music have different origins in many different places. Are you then saying that I should stop listening to music altogether? That wouldn't be scriptural.
It is funny how the things you claim doesn't happen when people listen to their music are the exact same things that happen why I and my friends listen to their music. I worship when I hear this music. I am drawn closer to God. I am spurred on to love and good deeds. I fail to see why you can't understand that worship and repentance are choices, not forced courses of action.
In addition to this, these concert attendees may throw up signs, but I don't. I worship. I choose to study God's Word and try to be like him in everything I think, do, and say. That is my choice. Other people can be exposed to the exact same music in the exact same environment and choose to do nothing.
These youths cannot look different than the world if they do not choose to forsake the ways of the world and turn to the Word of God which prescribes the actions needed for a true walk with God. This music encourages them to do that. If they choose to ignore it, then they will get nowhere.
It's the same situation that some preachers find themselves in. They preach the word of God and live it out before their congregation. They encourage true worship and holiness and are constantly telling their congregation to get right before God. Yet, there will always be a select number of people who will refuse to listen to this message and will find themselves in spiritual trouble. Should these preachers be blamed? I think not. They can set the atmosphere, but the people must make a response.
Well, the "throwing up signs" should not be laid on these artists. If you listen carefully to Da Truth's lyrics, you will find that that is not his aim. The artist cannot determine why people come to his concerts. He can only present what he has to offer. It is the kids' (and other concert attendees') jobs to make sure that they go to the concert expecting to hear from God and when they leave it is also their job to make sure that they react to what they hear.
I am also completely cognisant of the fact that sin cannot remain in God's presence. However, after someone "feels the presence of God at a concert or when listening to a CD," it is his/her responsibility to then go away from that situation and live a life in obedience to God's word. That is the key thing. Anyone can claim to "feel the presence," but the real evidence of change is a life that is lived in obedience to God's Word. And Da Truth's music is full of encouragement to live that way.
In addition to that, yes, music sets an atmosphere for worship. But, it is the listener's choice whether he wants to worship or not. You are laying the blame on the artist and not paying enough attention to the responsibility of the listeners. They can listen, and the songs can set the right atmosphere, but if they choose not to respond to the Spirit of God and the conviction of His Word, then they are responsible for what happens (or doesn't happen) to them.
But since you want to know whether or not I feel the presence of God when I listen to their music, I can honestly tell you that I do. I will also point out particular songs. Da Truth's song "After Your Heart" from the album "Moment of Truth" is a powerful song. Also, the song "Conversations" off the album "The Faith" is another very powerful song that leads me to worship. So if that is what you're looking for, then there it is.
whether I "feel the presence of God in the room" or not is not the issue here. I can claim to feel something and then when I leave I'm no different than when I came. The issue here is whether or not their music is Biblically sound and whether or not it challenges me to live a holy life in obedience to Christ Jesus. The blatant fact is that their music does this. This is the purpose of ministry...to present people with the truth of Jesus Christ so that their lives may be changed.
Da T.R.U.T.H. not everytime you read da word of God or pray do you feel like God is right in the mist...But i know that after I read or prayed or listened to a sermon that i left changed because I heard the word..Whether or not u get a feeling of the lords presence is not the main goal...I kno im in the presence of God...When I listen to Cross Movement or Da T.R.U.T.H. or Twyse or Prayz1...I am motivated to live a Godly life..and i am educated about the things of God
the music is a by product, these are two of the most Biblically Sound Ministers i know of, The Apostle Paul says "out of the heart the mouth speaks" the bangin music is just the bubbling over

i agree w/ a lot of what g craig lewis said..
but u have a lot of white youth who have nothing to do w/ the
hiphop culture and they like artists like lecrae, etc...
i dont think the whole genre of music is inherently evil,
its all about what u glorify, and unfortunately
99.9% of rappers glorify the devil

ok...so, what you're telling me is, we can't separate a genre of music from the culture around it?

Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. And then read all of Psalm 150.
