  • Wise, wise woman!

Top one, Dusty, hope your destiny is to perform in your next life!

  • What year was this video?

  • Boy, does she look normal! Beautiful nonetheless. Sorry for the expressions, but compared to her, Connie Francis and Dolly Parton look like aliens at that age.

  • I miss her. I really do. When she passed away. That really hurt me.

  • i love articulate women.

  • Thanks for posting this. Love her. Just love her.

  • I could listen to that beautiful smoky voice for ever...

  • Smoky lovely voice.....

  • Dusty never got the acolaides of what a great singer she was during her time alivebut when you hear her music,They realized what they missed out on.

  • Dusty was considered a great singer in her time! Unfortunatly part of her career was overshadowed by the group frenzy of the 1960's and 1970's but her music was appreciated and her albums received critical acclaim but never sold huge numbers compared to the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, etc.

  • Thanks!

  • She sure was on top-form in this interview which is lovely to see/hear. You sure are an example! GOD bless ya x

  • Who cares about her nationality she was just a great singer.

  • OK, let's settle all this nonsense about Dusty's nationality.

Her mother was irish, her father Scottish. she was born in London.

She was English, of Scots/Irish parents. In her heart she was certainly Irish

  • If Dusty was Welsh Why did she ask to bury part of her ashes in Ireland where her parents were from ??????

  • Dusty's remains were placed in Henley, where she lived.

  • From her friends interview some of her ashes were placed in ireland and some in Henley the two grave markers are on both sites

  • Ah. That's really nice because she was quite proud of the Irish side of her roots. I've seen the little memorial in Henley.

  • This is one lady the world never really understood as a person but as a musician she was the best blue eyed soul singer ever.Unique Special and so Talented Thank you for the memories Dusty

  • P.S. - Thank you so much for posting these videos of Dusty that catalog her life. I take comfort in being able to see her again.

  • I could listen to this woman's voice all day, all night. She was and is more than an icon or a talent -- hmmm. No words...I am so sad that I missed her last few years. I am so sad I never wrote her while she was alive and alone.

  • marli, why would you think she was alone? Simon Bell looked after her right up to the end, she was never alone.

  • I think in her heart she was a very unhappy lady...

  • I don't ! A bit mixed up in her USA years perhaps. She was a lady with enormous determination and will power. Life was pretty good for her after the Petshopboys hits. Check out her other interviews here and see how good she was looking and sounding not so long before she got diagnosed with cancer again.

  • and she confirmed it onseveral occasion in her own way still a nice person though unusal in this business

  • they say that underneath she was a very insecure person and what not.....but she created that whole Dusty Springfield persona which was the invisionment ( is that a word? doesnt sound right but...) of what she always wanted to be like. Dusty was always an exterior, you may be right, underneath she was never happy with herself.

  • She was Welsh? I suppose having an Irish mother, Scot's father & born in England Would make her Welsh, Huh?

  • My Gosh .... talent is the issue here. Not her racial origin or ethncity. She had enough VOICE for 2 or 3 Countries to claim ....

  • She was born in England and her parents were Irish.

  • im no expert but i didn't think she was welsh in any way. its totally irrelevant anyway!

  • she was as Irish as paddies pigs

  • Can I just Sayy That Dustyy Springfeild Was A Legend...

  • How nicely spoken and articulate Dusty was!

  • What a lovely ,intelligent, talented person she was. Unlike the neanderthal junkies we have now

  • This was recorded in 1990 and Dusty was 51, she wasn't diagnosed with cancer until 1994.

  • she was only 49/50 when this tape was recorded but she looked like an old lady i think it has something to do with the fact that she suffered from cancer

  • April 16, 1939: Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien (a.k.a. Dusty Springfield) is born in London. September 1, 1962: The Springfields, a British folk trio that includes Dusty and brother Tom Springfield, has a Top Twenty hit in the U.S. with "Silver Threads and Golden Needles." October 11, 1963/The Springfields perform their farewell concert in London. Nine days later, Dusty Springfield debuts onstage as a solo artist.

    Bless her.

  • She was and IS the REAL THING. Gawd we loved her. And always will. She is IT

  • her real name was Mary O`Brien.. when i was about 6yrs old in the sixties she gave me her autograph.. gods knows where it is now..ps my mum was with me she was playing at a little place in coventry englang when she was`nt so famous.. just thought i would tell you.great talent.....

  • i'm from coventry!! wow!

  • Hey Dusty was a legend i think she was born in Ireland and raised in ealing London, she spent ten years living in America does that make her American !? Dusty was teh white queen of soul R.I.P

  • stop arguing my friends! she's actually polish!

  • When exactly was this filmed?

  • BTW Wat year wuz this interview?

  • Every1 stop arguing about wheather she wuz British or Irish! Does it REALLY matter?

  • Why are you squabbling about what or who is or is not British, this post was about Dusty and her talent.

  • Your all forgetting the point. Dusty springfield was an amazing singer and she is an inspiration to everyone. Have some respect everyone. R.I.P

  • fuck off... My parents are Swedish, I was born and raised in England. my passport is BRITISH and my citizenship is BRITISH, therefore i am BRITISH.

  • What? you mean if you're born and raised in Britain, you're a Check or an American because your parents are? what the fuck is that shit?

  • can someone tell me when that interview was?

  • Dusty Springfield certainly was not English. She was Irish. Her real name was Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien.

  • Her parents were Irish but she was born in London Edgware and then moved to High Wycombe which in my opinion means she was Brtish as she was born in Great Britain. Where do you think she was born? All the books I have read say she was born in the UK

  • Yes I agree with Joannexxxx , Dusty is british since she was born in britan.

  • just because you're born in britain it doesn't meen your a brit. her parents were irish so that makes her irish. she just picked up the british accent because she was born there. trust me i'm irish and SHE is irish.

  • The english will say she is english but the irish will say she is irish. I'm glad she sings in an english accent though, as the soulfull songs that she sang would not have had the same feeling if sung with an irish brouge.

  • No you're wrong if your born in britian you're british it doesnt matter where your parents were born. It states it on your birth certificate. So being that she was born in london she is british with Irish desent due to the fact that her parents were Irish. Now if you're still not getting it look her up on Wikipedia. In response to Irishman286

  • Fantastic

  • She was unique and fought for her say in the production studios when she was recording.People used to say she was hard t work for but she knew how to use her instrument to its best advantage. Read her book it is fascinating

  • JOANNA...I was big fan of hers in Bitain but when moved to Canada heard only a few songs by her (Windmills of Mind)as Canada has rule to play 30% Canadian so not much stuff from UK ever got played...did hear, though, that she moved to Nashville..was pretty down and out...and died of a heroin overdose...you've read the books..what happened?

  • Dusty in Memphis was her Nashville album and there she did drugs and became depressed as she was gay and trying to conceal it. She came back to the Uk and sang again in a movie called Scandal and died of breast cancer. They lined the streets to say goodbye

  • Wow...bestymanof007fame...Thanks for the information. I've actually got the film Scandal (if it's the one about the Profumo scandal with John Hurt) and so have watched it several times and never noticed Dusty singing on it, will play again...so she moved back to U.K, did she? Marvellous to hear that people lined the steets to say goodbye; she certainly deserved that...she was a great artist.

  • OMG...I grew up in the sixties and NEVER knew that she is British!!!! Fantastic singer!

  • Do a search on Amazon there are 2 really good books that have been written about her and her life and death.

She was British through and through

  • Thank you. I will do a search. Loved her!

  • No she was not. She was Irish, and her real name was Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien.

  • so...donut...she was born in Ireland...I must be Irish too then as my parents had irish blood...tha makes all Scots Irish s we all have some Irish blood...and the Americans and Canadians...anyone else want to jumo on the Irish bandwagon...LOLOL!

Anyhoo....she was a another great BRITISH lady!

  • Dusty had been treated for breast Cancer and that is what Chemo and Radiation will do to you.

  • Dusty was not a transgender. Please.

That's the face of years of drinking, drugging, and smoking.

    But I still love her

  • Love to Dusty.

  • I happen to know the Mother of Stephanie Pearson (she used to be my boss and who I know is a pretentious person, I'm being nice at this point) who is a friend of the Simpson family. Let me tell you, they are all phony, pretentious and they are not talented, or care a damn about anyone but themselves. People die, yes, but Dusty out classes them by millions and it's a shame that anyone would compare in any way...a Simpson to Dusty. I know first hand and it stinks!!!

  • She seems so sweet and smart and lovely. How much sadder the world is without her! Miss ya Dust!

  • no i just thought it was stupid, im a dusty fan i dont even like jessica but i just think that was something very dumb to say.....

  • the begining of your comment is just stupid!

  • That's a weird comment. People die, and people make records. That's life. Dusty was the best!

Jessica may not be your cup of tea, but the world isn't a sad place because of her.

  • Jessica Simpson is a total disaster who her father used her tits and ass to get her into the public's "eye". I know about this family personally and Simpson cannot sing, cannot act and should NEVER be in the same sentence as DS.....don't even go there, I know about them. The world could damn well be better w/o the Jessica's of the world. A total waste!!!

  • what difference does it make what people are in their private lives, it is nobodys buisinesss,we should be thankful to have such talent and be able to listen to their fabulous voices and songs.

  • dkg4444,

Why do you bother when you can make these kind of comments? Those of us with ears and a heart, gay or straight, cannot mistake her gift and talent. It will be missed. too bad you cant see/hear through your own prejudices to notice this.

  • She died of cancer surrounded by family and friends, having just recieved an o.b.e. and just before being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame so why would you call her a bitch?

  • How sad that's all you noticed about this wonderful, gifted soul.

  • I like doing that too, but since I'm a guy, that makes it OK, huh? You had better check that no gay people were involved in making any of the music you listen to, or the movies you watch. It might rub off. ALL OVER YOU!!!! By the way, you'll die one day too.

  • No last I checked and to correct your grammar it's "an idiot"

  • I love ya Dusty....I miss you so much!!

  • To the last comment -wrong that relationship ended 10 years earlier. The ring was for a much later relationship. Don't believe everything you read you effing moron)

  • mate its in her bio.. get reading it.. her wife tedda

  • R u saying u knew her? How did u get 2 know her?

  • even her spaeking voice is sweet and sugary.she was really Irish i belive so not an english singer!its the uk..apparently!.i adored her....

  • She was English, born in London of Irish descent. As around 10% of the English population is...

  • I thought this could mean something about what you are sayig about Dusty's descent. In a video Dusty sings with Tom Jones..She says something like she can't speak Welsh and Tom J. says well speak Irish..Your Irish.

  • Just wonderful! Why on earth would someone want to LOSE that accent for? She had incredible pipes!

  • I just found out she died and i am devestated i've always wanted to meet her and cant believe she died i usually dislike english singers but i love Dusty she's just the best singer ever and i miss her soo much R.I.P

  • i am a dusty fan she was a lady r.i.p wot a lady with a power full voice

  • How come u've only just found out 11 months ago? She was diagnosed with Cancer in 1995 & has been dead since 1999.

  • i just loove how she still had her english accent! and not a international one! you can tell that she was always herself! (take note JOSS STONE! you dnt have to act american to be big)

  • Well said, the best female singer ever.

  • She was great! If you like her then also search the music of Japans greatest singer Nakajima Miyuki..thanks for the video!

  • Best female singer England ever had
