she sounds great. But I never built a ac 30 clone I built that amp out of a love for EL 84 power tubes. I could count at least 15 thing Vox never did .thank you all.
@hollandampsguy Hi, Mike! I'm honored to talk with you. What an incredible amp you made! And it's definitely so much more than an AC30! It's just that I bought it secondhand, and had no idea what to call it...so, with EL84 tubes, AC30 was what came to mind. But for sure, let it be known that there is much more to this amp than a Vox AC30, and in fact I sold the AC30 sitting in this video because of this Holland amp. :-) Thanks, Mike!
when you start playing do you have anything on. Effects wise? reverb from the amp? or is it completely dry? i know you kick in the delay later but from the begining to about 3:00 was it completely just the amp? thanks sorry im just really diggin the sound of that amp. just amazing.
No, no effects on whatsoever until the 3:00 point. The amp does have reverb, but it was not on during the video. And ya...I agree that's it's a really great amp. Cheers, bro!
i dont really know it doesnt say, but t is a big red amp, about 1 1/2 feet tall , and it is mainly for blues, and jazz, and whatever non-disorted things, but i can say the reverb is absolutely amazing!
I've played my ewi on his first prototype before it was put on the market! :-P Sorry I couldn't resist. It was before he was putting reverb in them. It looks more like the first Gibb Droll model back when he was making them in the mid 90s. The man works on stuff until it is perfect! Before moving away from where his shop is, i got to check out one of his 100 watt heads with a snake skin design, didn't get to play it though. He's going back into production soon, so if you want more info, pm me.
Unfortunately, I sold the AC15 before I did a demo video of it. I found those handwired ones to sound great, I just preferred tehe warmer circuit of this Holland. The Vox was really nice and chimey, but there was a depth (at least to my ears) that the Holland had that I liked more.
Ya, I have very limited experience with the CC series. I have a couple friends who play them, and I've tried them out. In my hopefully very humble opinion, the clones I've tried and the Vox handwired series sound appreciably better than the CC series. More depth, more weight, and less piercing. That's not to say there's not people getting killer tones out of the CC's; this has just been my very limited experience with them. :-)
No, unfortunately I didn't make it. :-) These were made by Mike Holland in the early 2000's. He made a few models, and also some custom orders, and then no one has really heard from him in a while. The last I heard was that he was opening a new company called Nash-Vegas, but I don't think that happened.
They are probably one of the finest crafted guitars I have played. Gerard Melancon really knows his stuff....he even cuts down his own swamp ash right in Louisiana for the strats. Seriously crazy cool. It's difficult to find a better sounding and playing strat. His are right up there with D'Pergo's and Grosh's and such, in my humble opinion.
haha Actually, if you find one used, they are really quite reasonable. hehe Reading back over my comment, I did kind of overdo the hype-talk on the guitars, didn't I. lol
I tend to like the Lollar Blonde's better because they use the alnico 2 magnet, as opposed to the Lollar Blackface's, which use the alnico 5. To my ears, the weaker alnico 2 magent's better resemble the sound of the fading magnets in vintage Fender strats.
Thanks for the kind words. The Lollars in this guitar are the Blonde's. And I'm switching between bridge, neck, and neck/middle pickup positions, but most of it is played with the bridge pickup.
Thanks, mate. Compared to the gear a lot of the guys doing demos on here are using, I never think mine's that big of a deal. hehe :-) Thanks for watching!!
thank you it is I that is honored.

thx for the quick reply. by any chance can you compare any of your clones or the ac15 handwired to the ac30 custom classic?
