i totally agree with this. lifting heavy for lower reps is not for building size, its primarily for strength. I remember getting up to the 110lb dumbells on the low incline dbell press for 8-10 reps. hurt my shoulder, dropped the dbells down to the 80's and pumped out more reps, chest grew better than ever.

hey guys i watched maybe half of your vids and it seems 2 me u guys know what advice 2 give im 16 years old and i weigh 215 pounds and im 6,2 i just would really be happy if u guys helped me finding a weekly work out plan something from monday through friday thanks guys hopefully u get back !!
turned 20 yesterday and I'm still recovering from a shoulder injury I got about 5 months ago due to poor form + lack of training rotator cuff. I just got the ok to do some chest exercises on the machines at my gym, meaning I can train every muscle in some way except for the shoulders, specifically deltoids. Still have about 1-2 months of physical therapy before I'm 100%
Never lift a weight that will compromise your form. I learned the hard way
If you're lifting extremely heavy you're probably already big. 275 isn't heavy on the bench for reps. I typically do 255-265 5x5 on the bench and I have LESS shoulder issues than I did when I was young and doing bench because I built up to it and I know the form.
As long as you master the form and execute it correctly you'll be fine.
The problem is that idiots go in there trying to lift things they couldn't lift with correct form and they're doing it with TERRIBLE form.
What is all this affected pseudo nigger-talk from two mulatos?? Meh. Speak normally, without attempting to make it all ghetto... you're impressing nobody with that BS
you just killed me at 0:56 !! you are hilarious dudes ! thx for the advises, one day maybe i will come and train with you guys ! i'm looking foward for that moment !
I snaped my elbow like 4 months ago, and it is sill hard for me to do shoulder press or bench press... I understand now, that i should have been more careful that day... I regret SO much for doing that fucking close grip bench press...
@filiplttt Just be careful with all the little muscles and exercise them on a weekly basis. I'm talking about every rotator in your body these have a huge impact on your health and potential fragility and injury. For example undertrained shoulder rotators often give sooner than the deltoids themselves hindering your progress, making you prone to injuries. You need to train these to keep them able and have them tighten the moving parts of your body.
I can't say I exactly agree with this video. I've seen a couple videos from you guys and y'all seem to have good idea of what you are talking about. Yes it's true lifting super heavy weights does increase your chance of injury, but that's why you do good stretching, warm up sets, and have proper technique while lifting before you jump right into the heavy shit and also avoid overtraining so that whatever muscle you are working out has repaired since the last time you worked out that muscle.
it's the truth. I got addicted to working out and worked out with WAY to heavy weights and now my ballsocket in my shoulders are pretty much messed up. The pain of the shoulder will stop u before ur muscles come close to getting tired. DONT LIFT HEAVY!!!! YOU'LL FUCK YO SHIT UP!!!
@FormatxJ Don't listen to that other guy, he's a total phaggot... You really should be asking about squats, deadlifts, OHP, bench and other compound lifts... Who in the hell gives two fucks about how much you curl? Your not gonna get big and joocy as fuck by doing curls, you get swole on lifting heavy ass weight son (all in moderation of course). Bodybuilders who are actually big and do sets of 12 or more reps on every lift are on gear and that's a fact.... come to the misc brah learn your stuff
Question: I can squat like 15kgs more than my BW (5x5). My goal isn't to squat a fuckn truck or anything, just get some decent size. Should I start using moderate weight? Coz at them moment I developed elbow tendonitis and haven't bench/overhead in ages!
@jerspanderi I believe that their statement concerns your future. When you put a lot of strains on your joints, of course you might not see any effect right now. However, at some point, when you will get old, you are going to have more trouble moving yourself.
@idave1992 First of all, implying +100lbs isn't babyweight... Second, you only can get hurt with improper form, too much weight with no foundation. And they're talking about one rep maxes, for as I do clean sets of five. Powerlifting still plays big role in NATURAL bodybuilding, you can't gain muscle if you don't progressively lift more weight. You will hit plateaus with those 10-12 rep sets and how do you break those plateaus? With more weight and fewer reps aka hitting PRs on 1-3 RMs...
I don't think there is a reason to lift more than 315 on bench and i think even that is a little extreme. However, everyone was impressed when my friend lifted 395 on bench. I had to explain that he has been playing football since highschool and needed that strength. People want to catch up and all that other BS, get fucked up in the long-run.
Personally i find lifting a medium weight for 7-12 reps is way more intense than doing only a couple of reps with a heavy weight that snaps your wrists up
I believe if you know what you are doing and your using correct form ideally with an experienced spotter, then you should not only for mass gain, but for strength. You don't want to be all show and no go~!
I did 2x2 for power lifting and i tend to lift more than i should and ended up stretching the tendons in my left shoulder and i was out for nearly two weeks. I weighed 140 and did 205 twice and hurt my back so yeah Like they say "It's just advice and in the end of the day you can do whatever the fuck you wanna do!"
It's like that guy you see in the gym maxing out all the time screaming out the top of his lungs trying to get noticed all the fuckin time. Ego- lifters with shit for form. 8-15 reps of good form is my parameter. Usually higher on dips though.
@RE1GNBLOOD what about free weights?? I do 5 sets of 10 reps, where my last reps 9-10 im going to failure.. is that too much or is it better higher reps and a ligther weight of course??
lol ima start listening to you guys...i met this guy in the gym he is complete and he gave me same advice as you guys...and he hired pro trainers/nutritionist

I got caught up in the 'numbers game' yrs ago & it cost me pretty big. (Worst injury: snapped pec tendon...when it let go, left arm dislocated and tore up the shoulder too. Multiple surgeries & a decade later, still not the same.) Unless you're getting paid or competing as a pro, it just don't make sense. If you want to keep your body healthy and strong, 'maxing out' offers the least benefit & greatest risk. Makes more sense to use a 1-rep max calculator, as suggested, instead.
Maybe they are still living with their parents lol. They just changed the room around. An insted of twin beds the save their money and bought to queens lol.
I thought it was best to build a strong base with low reps 2-5, and then start moving up to 6-12. A lot of pro bodybuilders have a background in powerlifting. My lifting buddy and I lifted heavy for 7 years and our joints are fine...
big problem is this, you must go heavy, but cycle your weights n reps, you will get sick, mentally of going heavy esp if you have lots of external stressors in your life, and your poundages will flat line, i at been at this since91, havent trained seriously since late 2010, just have stiff knees, sometimes and i trained many yrs heavy, but not 4-7 reps week n in and week out, and yea i was bldg muscle faster from yrs 5-10 then 0-5 better nutr/training, etc,
I'm 45, so I know what you mean about your joints. I use a Bowflex instead of free weights because it is much easier on the joints. The resistance at the start of the exercise is less than at full contraction, so it is easier on the joints. Also, you can't "cheat" by swinging the weight like in dumb-bel curls.
Are they saying that a program like STRONGLIFTS 5x5 is not good to do. I'm a skinny-fat ECTOMORPH and I was looking to try the 5x5 to see if it could help me build muscle mass and lose my stomach fat and manboobs. What should I do? How should I train? I really want to gain 15 pounds of solid muscle.
I would have to disagree, on certain things. I've been lifting now for 2yrs and gained about 40lbs of muscle. But I ve gained more size in the last 3months due to lifting heavy weights 6-8 reps. I was doing 10-12 before on relatively med-range weight. I've talked to some bodybuilders and they lift pretty heavy on most excercises (compound). Chest, back, legs, shoulders pretty heavy. The problem is most people do respect their joints. They extend all they way out on the bench press(Bad for elbows)
I dont totaly agree though.. the problem is that people tend to go heavy TOO SOON .. your body has weak parts most of the time and if your support muscles .. the ones that arent used much but still used for one part of the movement.. those ones will get tremendous stress because they arent as strong as the rest.. and ligaments too! they get stronger as you get stronger they too rebuild themselves..so yeah before starting to lift ''heavy'' make sure you got a few years of training under your belt
Start lifting around age of 17. Then youre testosterone level is stil raising untill your 21. That's the period you can build up muscle really fast if you do it right
True... I'm an old dude at 47. I used to lift at 4 to 6 reps till failure and injured my shoulder, elbow and knee on separate occasions. Now I do 8-15 reps with good form and see as good or better results from it. I think intensity is key so I incorporate drop sets and whatever else. Recently, FST-7 has been good to me.
Oh come on, lifting heavy isnt the problem, bad form is! But yeah, i do agree with the other stuff, wont be trying my 1RM on dips anytime soon..

big problem is this, you must go heavy, but cycle your weights n reps, you will get sick, mentally of going heavy esp if you have lots of external stressors in your life, and your poundages will flat line, i at been at this since91, havent trained seriously since late 2010, just have stiff knees, sometimes and i trained many yrs heavy, but not 4-7 reps week n in and week out, and yea i was bldg muscle faster from yrs 5-10 then 0-5 better nutr/training, etc,
beast36001 3 weeks ago
aww for shame.
I weight 170 and I'm squatting 3 plates. Am I gonna have knee problems now?
crazystarf 3 weeks ago
@crazystarf not if you cycle your repsn n weights, better be taking vit c for them joints,
again dont know ytour age, length of training, so forth, if your under the 10yr mark you should be ok
beast36001 3 weeks ago

I really want to gain 15 pounds of solid muscle.

body building MILF #2 lol!!!!!!!!!
JoeDeSimone100 3 weeks ago 30

ZachHENDRICKS 4 weeks ago
