Oh god. Another Lips worshiper sucking on an assortment of Flaming Lips cocks for re-making this album and and infusing it with their special brand of no-talent pretentious horseshit.
@jimjamjoeyjoejoe I love Pink Floyd and have for forty years - but to call another band "pretentious" in comparison to Pink Floyd is absurd! They are the effing godfathers of pretentiousness! Roger Waters can't poop without a painful and tortured allusion to his dead father.
@David71293 The Flaming Lips have fucking earned respect. They toured around for years doing music solely for the love. They took all sorts of risks and somehow didn't get booted from Warner Bros records and have developed a huge following. They cover Floyd with imagination instead of trying to copy it word for word and note for note. I think Roger Waters would probably approve of their handling of Dark Side.
@David71293 I'm an avid Pink Floyd fan. In fact, I can honestly say that David Gilmour has had the greatest influence of all guitarists. But I respect them for doing this. It would be offensive if they tried to completely copy the original. I happen to like new music. What, do you really think that the love of music and art has totally disappeared or something? (1/2)
@David71293 I also find it rather insulting that you think that all new music is about the money. What, just because I started writing music after the "Golden age of rock n' roll," I'm automatically a greedy bubblegum writer who cares nothing for the art? There's good music out there now. Maybe your perceptions blind you, but if you look for it, there's some great stuff beyond the mainstream. There's also a couple of top 40 artists (Not many, but a few) who have some credibility. (2/2)
@David71293 Oh god. Another Floyd worshiper hating the Flaming Lips for re-making this album and not doing it EXACTLY note-for note, beat-for-beat. I respect the fact that the Flaming Lips did this in a manner that makes it sound like a Flaming Lips album. Plus, I got to see them do this at Bonnaroo. You want to listen to a bad tribute album? Listen to the RUSH tribute titled "Working Man", featuring Sebastian Bach, Mike Portnoy, and several other no-namers. Now THAT's a bad tribute album!
I was there and it blew me away, you have to imagine how loud it was, I was sitting in the second level in the "sweet spot" and I remember the feeling of being pinned to my chair by the loudness of the band. The bass especially could be felt through your chest. You could also feel the whole amphitheater vibrate under you. I saw them at the Denton TX show and it was nowhere as loud as in an inside setting. It was an epic event and I was glad to witness it. 1 sec ago
Love this, but it would have been better if the solo was kept, or if they did some psychedelic thing in there. But there's something missing to the middle.
I like the Flaming Lips but this is Murder

@David71293
80s music is literally the worst thing to happen (other than early Flaming Lips, Chili Peppers...ect)

yeah...weak sauce for the lack of the solo...thats the high point of the album.
