Not many fans realize this, but Studd (aka John Minton) broke in back in 1972 as Chuck O'Connor. He had his first matches for Bruno Sammartino's Pittsburgh promotion (a satellite promotion for WWWF), and moved up to the main roster later that year. He was also one half of the former WWWF tag champs, The Executioners (with his mentor Killer Kowalski).
Andre was even more athletic before his back problems.
Climbing the ropes, running the ropes or taking hard bumps were nothing for him.
He was an an amazing talent
but, unfortunately most people dont see how good he was.
