@FReconSemperFi Not right away, you will first get put into a non-combat field(could be anything from computers to finance) based upon your asvab scores. Then when it comes the time during your service an which you can retrain you will have the option of trying again. But based on your user name I believe it would be better for you to join a different branch as they have jobs that do things similar to CC/TACP without it being as mentally demanding and with a lower chance of failure.
@FReconSemperFi If an Airman going through the training is a new recruit, he is most likely in the Guaranteed Training Enlistment Program, and airmen in GTEP who self-eliminate will likely be discharged from the Air Force. If they are allowed to stay in, they will not be allowed to cross-train into another combat career field.
If an Airman is a retrainee with prior service, he could be allowed to try out for TACP, but not for PJ.
FYI, SFS is not a combat field. Hope this helps! ^SM
@jimmy12washington This video is hilarious!! How gay!! Yup, sure got a bunch of tools for the toolbox!! I would roll with most any SF guy downrange, guard or AD. I hope you didn't get any splinters little Jimmy. Baaaahhhhhh!!
I enlisted with the Navy 9 Months ago. I knew I wanted to be a Meteorologist from the very beginning. I leave for boot in 3 days. My Rate Is A.G., Aerographer's Mate. If I knew this existed before hand I would have gone Air Force and done this instead.

@19thSFGA Umm.... you're in the National Guard SF? Sad thing is, these weathermen have more combat training than you. And the National Guard only has SF to make there 'troops' feel good about themselves. I have respect for all branches, but I don't think you have the right to decide who "get's in your way".
You do realize that the National Guard SF goes through the same initial training as all Green Berets, and they deploy just as often as the other SF groups. The Air Force might consider these Combat Weathermen "elite", but it looks to me like they are about as elite as an Army 13T....which is not very.

@FReconSemperFi I'm fairly sure that failed Controllers get put into Security Forces, so yes.
