When I listened to RWIB Version 1, while I liked it, it didn't quite have that certain "oomph." And then I heard Version 2, and it was EVERYTHING that Version 1 should have conveyed properly but didn't: abandonment, isolation, vulnerability, and fragility at its worst.

I also think this could be interpreted as a vessel for Nietzsche's "Death of God" concept, since the lyrics describe a loss and uncertainty of ideas and beliefs that you've held as truth your entire life.

I think I like this version better then v1. Simply because this just seem's more emotional, and powerful. The very simplistic stripped down version just makes you feel very lonely and really feel the emotion behind the song itself.
