Handiman is quite right the law has instituted parole hearings under certain very specific circumstances. If you don't like that then petition for legislative change. Concerning her hearings it does seem that she will never be granted parole because of her participations in heinous crimes that deeply and permanently scarred the collective American psyche. This is perhaps unfair as it seems unlikely that she would ever constitute and danger to society. She got screwed by Manson!

We were both in a lot of pain and right next to each other so we talked all night to distract ourselves from what we were feeling. He was a friend of Sharon Tate's dad, and he said that no one in the Manson family would survive parole. You don't talk shit when you don't know if you're going to live or die, so I believe it.

In the U.S. prison is supposed to be about rehabilitation. Leslie Van Houten has rehabilitated during her decades in prison. She could function in the outside world with some help...a half-way house, perhaps. To bring her up for parole on a regular basis only to deny parole is confusing to me. Makes me wonder if she's benefiting the prison somehow...by being one of their "model prisoners", maybe Van Houten scores brownies points - and funding - for the prison in which she is incarcerated.
the V ammendment says that :" no person shall be held to answer for a capital or other infamous cirme unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury......nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself" here she has been constantly forced to witness against herself
aslo the VIII ammendment says that "no cruel or unusual punishment shall be inflicted", which looks as the life sentence is a cruel and unusual form especially at 2:29

Handiman is quite right the law has instituted parole hearings under certain very specific circumstances. If you don't like that then petition for legislative change. Concerning her hearings it does seem that she will never be granted parole because of her participations in heinous crimes that deeply and permanently scarred the collective American psyche. This is perhaps unfair as it seems unlikely that she would ever constitute and danger to society. She got screwed by Manson!

The families of the murder victims are still suffering from their loss. Why should she walk free when they still feel the after-shock of the events in which she was an accessorry. I was in the hospital some years ago with a collapsed lung, and while in the ICU had a long conversation with a man who had had a heart attack while hunting. We were both in a lot of pain and right next to each other so we talked all night to distract ourselves from what we were feeling. He was a friend of Sharon Tate's dad, and he said that no one in the Manson family would survive parole. You don't talk shit when you don't know if you're going to live or die, so I believe it.

Because that is the simple truth. She's met all their requirements and everything they have in place for rehabilitation. In the U.S. prison is supposed to be about rehabilitation. Leslie Van Houten has rehabilitated during her decades in prison. She could function in the outside world with some help...a half-way house, perhaps. To bring her up for parole on a regular basis only to deny parole is confusing to me. Makes me wonder if she's benefiting the prison somehow...by being one of their "model prisoners", maybe Van Houten scores brownies points - and funding - for the prison in which she is incarcerated.

Italian. In this country was the greatest revolution in history. In times past, revolution only replaced one set of rulers for another. But in this country, we embraced 3 simple words. "We the People." We the people do not rely on government to control our lives, but I believe that even you can control your destiny better than the government can. I love England, they have been a great ally to us thru our history. Competition is what makes healthcare better-not governemnt regulation.

From 2:15-2:32 when she's listening to the details of her crime, I do think she looks genuinely remorseful. I know I'll probably be thumbed down but I do believe SOME criminals can deeply regret their actions. Why shouldn't some regret them? It doesn't mean because you do something wrong that you will always approve of your actions.

@whiskybeauty2 - I have no doubt that she regrets her actions. However, in my opinion, that doesn't mean she should be paroled. I feel badly for her because I believe she has a conscience. And of course she wants out of prison. Who wouldn't? Again, that doesn't mean she deserves to be let out. It's tragic, yes. But the tragedy was her own making and her victims and their loved ones suffered more than she ever has or ever will.

God forgives on the terms He has written about in the Bible. That does not mean He does not hand down consequences. Some of these women have boasted that they have helped others in prison. I believe that, before death, that THAT is their destiny--in PRISON. They are alive, and they were at first sentenced to death! This has got to stop.

Her hair is not dyed it has turned grey.
My mother is as old as Leslie and doesn't look
as old as she does. My mother hardly has any wrinkles. And looks half her age.
The guilt of what she did and what happened must weigh on her conscience to have her looking this old. Or prison life aged her.
