I saw this last night. And when they did the fire part I was like, "THEY'RE GOING TO DROP ONE, ITS GOING TO HIT, OH NO." I was like closing my eyes when that part happened xD But great show :D
I love this story. I was truly inspired. I believe it gave me a perspective of heritage and how it's important to raise your children with the importance of knowing who you are and the identity established from a child to be successful as an adult. Standing "Ovation."
i think it's funny how some people say this show isn't that cultural. yeah, it's not cultural at all, they just spent 3 years coloraborating with people from the islands, changing the show over and over again until finally given a "good to go" from back home. but the beginning is a little bit lion king ish. still loves it though
im a proud poly but this show was more theatrical to me then it was about our culture...i was disappointed in the night show...although the villages arent that bad to visit
OMG..i watched the show couple wks ago. I couln't hold my tears . The message in it is wonderful .. I walked out being motivated to be a better person and to my family and friends too..Thank you HA
I am Polynesian through and through and it's definitely not lion king...we existed before lion king...i think the whole lion story is based on polynesian way of life...I've watched the show 3 times live just to watch the Tongan section...it brings sweet memories of my island when I am watching the show...
I've seen the show, and it is far better than their last show, Horizons. Yes, the opening and closing are dramatic, but the raw culture that I've come to know the Polynesian Cultural Center for is still there in the individual sections. Best show on the island for sure, and you really have to see it live to feel the spirit of this amazing show!
umm sorry. dont think of it as hating but... IT ALL SEEMS A LIL DISNEY. dont u think. lovin the new costumes but not liking the show at all. it just seems to modern. big ups to PCC but the new show is... well. I aint feeling it. Lovin the Traditionals ways.
traditional ways? just because they have state of the art sound and lighting makes it disney?....it would be to boring if it was done like back in the 70's.......sorry you feel that way, maybe you should see the show live because i felt the same way and then i saw it and i was blown away!!!!!!
im not talkin bout the lightin and sound. cause all that is off the chain. but im talkin bout the whole story line with the whole movie and modern steps mixed with polynesian moves...it looks alot like the LION KING. BUT a polynesian version. sorry it the truth. but i guess your right maybe i should see it first. it does look entertaining..lol.
this is a story that everyone can feel and everyone can relate to. Everyone has a "HA" story in their families (Ohana) It has the most challenging story of all - "Life itself"!!!!
i love the new show! it's a modern contemporary choreography with a polynesian twist. i sooo want to go and watch this, but i don't have the money to go out to hawaii. but one day i will. Malie Tonga!
The show is just grrrrreat!!! good acting too...and mana is the bomb, i'm not jus saying that cause hes my cousin but i'm jus sayin' lol nice video :)
Whoa.... this is their new show? Vegas / Broadway-style meets Poly culture... ?!Looks entertaining, but I woulda expected something more 'authentic' from this place....? That's just my thought though - but I'm sure the tourists will be loving this, and I guess what the paying customers think is what matters the most. They're the ones keeping this place going.
whats wrong with this? i saw the show and thought it was awesoem! poly culture......yes! just because they have new sound and lights that makes it vegas or broadway? there was a standing ovation the night i was there and even polynesians were there to watch.
i agree... just becuz it has synthetic sounds and lights doesn't make it "less authentic". we're in the 21st century. I like how there's a story to it. it's amazing. very well put together and thought out.
such a good show. proud to be Polynesian.
