Well I guess the video got messed up on YouTube, I do have other vids about the pentatonic scale. Add &fmt=18 at the end of the link and it may work. &fmt=18
lol, silly people, one person tries to make a joke about the video as it appears to be very short so you all copy it...just to make it even more funny -.-
The video is very clear as opposed to what some people are saying... Then if you think you are to good for his lessons (listen up to what age category is talking to him) than go lookj for something harder...
His lessons are great for motivating and teaching young musiciens
He's very pedagogical but all that talk about "sad" and "happy" is very subjective. Not everyone agrees to which chord or scale sounds sad or happy, that's why I feel his theories are pretty ill-founded. Why not instead mention the oriental flavour of the scale, or talk about its connection to the blues. No, I wouldn't stay with this tutor for a very long time...
can't make out which keys your playing: shouldn't you have sighted your cam on top of the keyboard, just the voice would been enough...your teaching method yeah sucks.ngakkk
A wonderful, simplistic video. Attn: Herbert is more than likely instructing elementary school students, not Berklee aged men & women.
I suppose that you'll would burden their little minds with modes, scales, arpeggios, chord progressions and such for the first lesson? Please. Great job Mr. Herbert, as you have the art of teaching down. It's about simplicity.
well, the idea about low pitch against high pitch being compared to sad and happy is interesting. there could be some sense in it. and i observe it for the first time in my life like that, but in general, kids, run away from Herbert!
assigning values of happy/sad to music instead of teaching major minor sound discrimination is just one more reason music ed in this country sux out loud..
I learned a lot about how to improvise/play by ear by watching and listening to my Uncle play the piano. He only played the black keys, but his repetiore was endless. I enjoyed your presentation. Thanks
Excellent! fresh new ideas in modern music

This is by far the most comprehensive and educational video I have ever seen.
But after watching it, it made me ask if the hand is faster than the eye.
