The Count was amazing and he is a good actor my fav bit was the ship sinking and water coming in and he kept playing the records and sat at his station..
also father and son clip was good when bob was trying to keep hold of his records.
What a terrible trailer. It always amazes me how a trailer cutting studio can make a good movie look so awful. This makes the film look hollow and dumb.
this is actually one of my most favorite movie, i loves it sooo much, i watched it for like ten thousand times already, i just love every part of it! and 60s is just amazing..btws, i'm 16
Such an awesome movie, although found the part where the attractive niece slept with fat guy unbelievable, but I guess most of its was pretty unrealistic
@fede018 Please go find some brain cells so that you can gain an insight into just how bad the script for this film was. It was dreadful. Dire. Abhorrent.
Type in "Band. no name as of yet." in google (pretty damn inventive If I say so myself), and the first result will be our facebook page. Influences from Paul, John, George, Ringo, and Walrus, Jimi, The Strokes, The Cribs, The wombats (first album) etc. There's 2 rough demo songs on there already, but If you like what you hear and want more; like us on facebook and keep an eye out for the forthcoming EP, which will be studio quality.
the american version of this trailer made no sence it said that philip seymore hoffman and a band of regeades started the boat so.... americans can't respect that the british had an oringal idea? yes I am an american
@maxvago1234 Yes. It's a complete farce of usual Hollywood proportions pretty much making out that rock n roll was banned in the UK and it took an American to come and save the day. Really, I don't blame the Americans for their ignorance and giant egos. It's what they're spoon-fed from from an early age. I see you're one of the smart ones who prefers to broaden their horizons a bit.
@automat3000 Thanks I have always been interested in other cultures and I find it wrong how they changed it for America just because the american wasn't the main character or leader or founder
That was the best movie I've ever seen in my life ! My favourite scene is the one when Count and Gavin jump to the sea not worried about their mobile phones in their pockets, cause they simply don't have'em. I miss those times when people danced on the streets, wore colourful clothes, listened to the music from vinyls, and the government couldn't trace you by the GPS system :) People were free back in the days...
@niz011 You're right, but most of cell phone users are its slaves... They can't imagine a day without it ! And what about vinyls ? In my country (I live in Poland) vinyls are quite expensive and cost $50, but if you want to buy a good old gramophone you have to pay $120 (!) for it, so listening to music from vinyls is too expensive for some people and not everyone can afford it.
you realize that an important part of the film is how people weren't free back then? Things like- no rock on roll on the legal radio for example? You weren't allowed to say things lick fuck on the radio? Ect. By the way its not actually a documentary but a nostalgic film.
@MNG941231 Well I'm 19, I don't carry my mobile around with me, I only wear bold coloured clothes, I don't own a GPS system and I still listen to vinyl. There's nothing quite like it- it really gives you a personal feeling with the music you're listening to. The 60s are still very much alive for me, although I don't dance in the streets. Not when I'm sober, anyway...
@videogamenostalgia Well, that's nice :) I wish there would be more people like you who are not addicted to their mobile phones. Last times I started my therapy. Now I usually leave my mobile at home and I feel better when I don't carry it around with me. The constant reason of me hurrying all the time was: "OMG someone called, I need to be there in 2 minutes !". Now these days are gone :)
P.S. Dancing in the streets with friends at 3AM (not) sober is really cool :D
@MNG941231 Totally!!!The best movie ever!!!SUPERB humour, great cast and amazing cinematography! And the MUSIC WOW!....my fav scene is the guessing game where kevin has jesus and he says ''nice man....has a lot of friends...long hair '' hahaha!! I wish i was born in those days.
@MNG941231 well what you wear and how you listen to music is still your choice, the government can't control your clothing, so nothings really changed, except for peoples fashion sense
I saw that movie, and that was the best movie I've ever seen in my life ! This movie was originally called the boat that rocked as it a pun on the name - you know rock music, a boat in the sea rocking on the waves etc but it got change for the USA market as they didn't think the American's would get it lol!
So basically its called the boat that rocked every where but America where its called Pirate radio. Its one of the best British films ever!
@daminkymonkey They just changed it for America because they didn't think they would understand the title!! Like they did with the Harry Potter book 'The Philosopher's Stone'. I think the American media thinks Americans are stupid. Do your research first though. It's 'The Boat the Rocked' everywhere else & it's a much better title! x
All the kids who love the music from the "new" days and say that old music suck, should watch this movie, without those bands, no fucking lady gagas would be alive.
Great film, maybe not too accurate historically, but boy does it give a taste of the way things were in the 60's. As a 58 year old DJ it had me cheering at the pure FUN of it all.

@emrh94 yeah, it was a really great film. If THIS is the official trailer they REALLY promoted it wrong. It's like they're making it sound like some zany wacky comedy. It had funny moments, but it wasn't like they're promoting it.
I would just like to encourage all TBTR fans to listen to the commentary.
I SWEAR, it's almost as funny as the movie. For example, the first thing they say:
''This looks like the beginning of Harry Potter.''
''Oh, I hope it is!''

the trailer does not do this film justice! It's such a great film - I definately reccommend it!
emrh94 2 years ago 3
@emrh94 yeah, it was a really great film. If THIS is the official trailer they REALLY promoted it wrong. It's like they're making it sound like some zany wacky comedy. It had funny moments, but it wasn't like they're promoting it.
