@ZandJproductionz Tang Soo Do isn't only about using weapons (yes, there's a few more), most techniques are empty-hand techniques. Way to be ignorant.
i wonder if they realize that there are not supposed to wear black belts in tang soo do. these people in this video r retarded. the dan belt in TSD is navy blue
@bigpopps711 Actually the original by Hwang Kee was a dark blue belt for the rank of black belt because black denotes and end and you are never done training. Some people still use dark blue instead of black.
@stevenstephens just read your comment and your retarted there are many tsd there rules our blue belts are know as cho dan bo which are BLACK BELT CANADIATES i have been trainin in tang soo do for bout 10 yrs im a black belt and i wear it
Spinning is also used to ward off an attacker. Not too many people will willingly approach a person spinning a staff. The spinning has to be used judiciously and in combination with other Bohng techniques. Nice vid, I was a member of the USTSDMDK federation years ago before I switched to Tae Kwon Do.
I ended up leaving my do-jahng because I graduated from college and moved to a different part of the state. Where I ended up, they had no TSD do-jahngs, only TKD. I still wanted to learn, so I took the only other option left to me, and have kept at it since. I still incorporate my TSD ideals and methods into my TKD techniques, and still strive for doing the best I can do, just as my former instructors taught me to do.
actually, gung fu and tang soo do are different. every martial art is the same in some ways, and yet different in their own way. you shouldn't knock gung fu though, what does not work for you may work excellent for someone else. martial arts are martial arts, none lesser or better than the other.
Every school and instructor is different. They teach different even in the same style. One instructor prefers one way of doing things and another instructor prefers another way. They are both effective. Don't say something is wrong just because you were not taught the same way.
omfg, I guess you guys do not know what you are talking about, the way it's being done is the correct WTSDA way. I have been taking WTSD since i was 13 and I'm 27 now so get your facts straight before you make a comment on something Thanks.
Aren't you supposed to use the Korean? We are supposed to were I learn. At least you learn soon on how to really pronounce it. It is like learning your first language. :-)
Could her assistant be any LESS enthusiastic with his kehaps?
I can understand not wanting to make too much noise if this was being filmed while classes were taking place in another room or something. Although trying to make your kehap "quiet" is like trying to whisper a shout. It doesn't really work.
I agree that it's not necessary to kehap at the top of your voice when training, but SOME effort should be going into it.
this martial art is pointless
it's not like you are going to carry a big stick (bong) around with you
learn karate you are the weapon and you always are equipped

The dark blue belt is Cho Dan Bo, which is a black belt candidate. It is the last belt before black.
twistedace 1 year ago
@twistedace only in the WTSDA because in the traditional Tang Soo Do federation, the dark blue belt is the equal as black belt or dan

Do you believe the regular taekwondo is preferable than moo duk kwan in your opionion? Since you left your federation.

So much wasted movement... Either you block or hit...
NecroViolator 2 years ago
The spinning is merely for show while you practice or in Bong Hyungs (staff forms). While practicing combat moves you do not do all the fancy stuff.

Do you know who Grand Master Ho Sik Pak is? If you really do know how the HRWTSDA is practiced you would know this is incorrect.

this is a strange video
not much instruction, just one block?
then spinning?
you should really have a series of staff tutorials like others here have done, this is relatively meaningless.
Also, I really love white people teaching white people while using poorly pronounced Korean commands, hehe :)
Is it really necessary? It sounds so artificial. Just use English if you don't really know the Korean langugage.

@User8571 well, i'm thinking this could be a one room class or someone did this privatly when class didnt start but here are to rule why she kehaped:
1) to startle you oppenet
2) to focus your energy and power
3) to remove all air from you lungs I so oyu do not "get the air knocked out of you.")
