  • No, "pastors" are the problem. Just like you and Mark Driscoll, the Pope of Mars Hill, you call it "your church". Your man-made “churches” fail because you make people dependent on you and not Jesus Christ who called you out in Matthew 23. Hirelings (John 10) like you dance all around 1 Cor 11 and 14. You manipulate them and Tim, Titus, & 1 Pet 3 when they fit your theology but you advance feminism by imposing a level of authority over men thereby equalizing men & women beneath you.

  • i liked it but dont be hatin on video games they're no different than movies or books just another form of entertainment

  • You've told the truth, Pastor, but you are too late. America is in its last days just as Israel was crushed for its disobedience. Every civilization repeats the same pattern of work, reward, and wealth and ends with a last generation in hedonism, gluttony and corruption. Every single one. $15 trillion in debt as the rest of the world goes bankrupt, too. The 401K is the last thing you'll need. All's left now is to gather the faithful and let those too late bang on the door. I'm sorry.

  • @franklymydeary or you could pray about it.

  • The "church" is not supposed to be a building. It's supposed to be people.

  • This is true; but there is another side to this story. In many cases, as older folks are resisstant to changes that is driven by the newer culture (the next generation), these younger Christians start new congregations in the new style that is more relivant to the their generation. So the old die and the new generation is birthed. The Kingdom is always growing. Yes the older need to finish much better, by being living examples to the young. The young need to be willing to be around the old.

  • I am stunned.... Wow!

  • Pastor Darrin is right on the mark. These days, men are marketed to be bafoons. They aren't supposed to find their way because women are supposedly their saviors. I am guilty of not investing in younger men. But no more; I am proud to be a Catholic and I will invest in the masculinity of our world. Come on men, let's take our world back; not at the expense of women because some do a lot of wonderful work. But now we are being called to help out young men...let's do our share! Amen? Amen!

  • The reason a lot of guys live with their parents is because school tuition and the cost of living is so expensive. I live on my own and go to school, but I have had nothing but Ramen since Thanksgiving. Better men can be fostered by giving people who want to do something with their lives a better chance economically.

  • soo I guess he's not interested in pastors who are women. or in the idea that not only older men but also strong, godly older women can be role models for young men .

  • @hollyo89 If you read the book, he does NOT demean women or their role. He just reinforces the biblical role of men.

  • @hollyo89 Wow. Women are doing alot better than men these days. Zoom, right over your head

  • @hollyo89 its not appropriate for men to be mentored by older Godly women. It has nothing to do with strength of the believer.

  • Adam... where art thou?

    Amen!!!!

  • THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE CHURCH LACKS DECIPLESHIP. . NOBODY WANTS TO EVANGELIZE THEY JUST WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.

  • I left the Christian church 6 months ago, because ONE thing. After salvation there is no direction no truth discipleship. No one really knows the Bible or care to know it is full of cliches and gold nuggets. I went to God in the matter and I was compeled to study the Hebrew language. Now, I pray for Pastors to be awaken to 1. after salvation the Torah is still a mandate from God. All those words like "faith", "grace" and so forth were taken out context thus no "power" and lawless abound.

  • Churches are dying for a reason... People are liberated from the oppression from the church... Granted, without the church, men don't know how to lead productive lives and they don't have purpose anymore... In that sense I think church serves a role in society, even though it teaches belief in fiction... I don't know which is worse :-\

  • @RebelSapper you can easily live a life of purpose without church. many people can't, but if you're capable of looking at your life more thoughtfully you can find your place in the world.

  • AAmos, I can see that pastors (elders) as an office don't have your respect. Since you haven't got much more to add, how about letting other people talk. It would be the "loving" thing to do.

  • i don't wanna build a museum, i wanna be a part of a movement

    oh wow, thats amazing

  • Some guys don't know how to handle a true masculine challenge. They have spent their entire lives investing into a false manhood.

Sports, gaming, paintball and women will never and was never ment to validate a man.

  • AAmosLove,

1)Do you wear pants and shirts? Do you eat hamburgers? Do you drive a car? Are those things in the Bible? Do I need to go on about that?

2)What exactly was it that you think that Paul, Silas, Barnabus, etc. did? Does it matter whether it is called "Planting" or not? It is a term for intentionally going to a place and starting a new congregation.

3)Yeah, the churches did allow themselves to be led by leaders. What do you think elders, deacons, bishops, and apostles were?

  • @pauldst Seems Jesus has a unique take on “Leaders” for **His Body.** “ONE” How do “you” reconcile the use of the word “leader” when “Jesus” in Mat 23:10, told **His disciples** NOT to be called “Master/Leader?” For you have “ONE” “Master / Leader” “The Christ.

    .

Jesus told **His disciples** NOT to be called **leaders**

and NONE did. Thank you Jesus.

  • @pauldst King James Version - Neither be ye called masters: for “ONE” is your Master, even Christ. . The Interlinear Bible - Nor be called leaders, for “ONE” is your leader the Christ. . Phillips Modern English - you must not let people call you leaders, you have only “ONE” leader, Christ. . Today's English Version - nor should you be called leader. your “ONE” and only leader is the Messiah. Jesus told **His disciples** NOT to be called **leaders** and NONE did.
  • @pauldst Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ,

Php 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ - Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ - Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of God - Jas 1:1 James, a servant of God - 2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant - - If Jesus instructed **His Disciples** NOT to call themselves “leaders” and someone calls them self a “leader?” - Are they a "Disciple of Christ?" Why isn’t what Jesus said important?

  • Hmmm? Can't find "Church Planting" in my antiquated KJV. In the Bible... Did Jesus ask any of "His Disciples" to "Plant a Church?" Did any "Disciples of Christ" "Plant a Church?" Did any "Disciple" have the "Title/Position" "Pastor/Leader?" Did any congregations let themselves be"Led' by someone with the "Title" and "Position" of **Today's** "Pastor/leader?" My people have been lost sheep, their shepherds have caused them to go astray... Jer 50:6 KJV. Jesus loves me this I know...
  • @AAmosLove Asked his disciples to go make disciples and baptize them. Disciples planted churches in Alexandria, Jerusalem, Asia Minor, Rome, Corinth, India etc. The disciples were referred to as aposltles a special title and role in leading the church. These are biblical principals, may not be perfect, but it is what we have. People are sinful. Welcome to planet earth.

  • @TheSmokingBastard @TheSmokingBastard “What” did Jesus teach? “

Seems Jesus taught “His Disciples” to teach “What” He taught them.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and

**teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.**

    Mat 28:19:20 NIV

If the word “Disciple” means - learner, student? Then...

A “Disciple of Christ” = A learner, student, learning directly from Christ.

  • @TheSmokingBastard Jesus taught “His Disciples”

1 - NOT to be called teacher for you have “ONE” teacher, Christ. Mt 23:8

2 - NOT to be called leader for you have “ONE” leader, Christ, Mt 23:10

3 - ALL shall be taught of God. Jn 6:45

4 - ALL things, shall be taught you by the Holy Spirit, God. Jn 14:26

  • @TheSmokingBastard 5 - ALL truth, will come as the Spirit of truth guides and leads. Jn 16:13

6 - Jesus, as man, does nothing of himself, and is taught of God. Jn 8:28

7 - Peter, knowing Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God,

received the revelation from Father God, and NOT from man. Mt 16:17

NOT even Jesus, as man. Jesus gave “All” the glory, all the credit to God.

  • @TheSmokingBastard - John the apostle, a “Disciple of Christ” taught what Jesus taught.

1 - ALL know, discern, all things. From the anointing in you. 1 Jn 2:20

2 - You need not any man teach you. Some will seduce you. 1 Jn 2:26:27

3 - ALL things, are taught to you by the anointing. 1 Jn 2:27

  • @TheSmokingBastard - Paul the apostle, a “Disciple of Christ” taught what Jesus taught.

1- The gospel, NOT taught to me by man, but by revelation. Ga 1:11,12

2 - I conferred NOT with flesh and blood. Ga 1:16

3 - You have heard Jesus, and have been taught by Jesus. Eph 4:21

4 - You are taught by God to love one another. 1 Thes 4:9

5 - When together, all can teach, all can get revelation. 1 Cor 14:26

6 - Be led by the Spirit of God, and be a son of God. Rm 8:14

  • @TheSmokingBastard - “What” were the “teachers” Paul talked about supposed to teach?

When Paul said, - and some **shepherds and teachers**

for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry,

for the edifying of the body of Christ. Eph 4:11

I don’t see Paul having any thoughts about once a week...

Pastors - in Pulpits - Preaching - to People - in Pews.

Then a week goes by and most has been forgotten. If even heard.

Is that “How” Jesus taught? Wasn’t He “daily” with “His Disciples?”

  • @TheSmokingBastard - Pastor/teachers in pulpits “create” pew potatoes, always hungry, lazy.

The Pastor/Teacher makes a name for himself, a reputation, BUT...

**man now looks to man** for learning, revelation, and NOT to Jesus. :-(

Teach a man to hear from Jesus, learn from Jesus, revelation from Jesus...

You have, “Disciples of Christ.” Learners of Christ. Ekklesia of Christ.

Now Jesus can feed, lead, and teach them “daily,” forever, Eternity...

  • @TheSmokingBastard - Along with the "Title" and "Position" of "Today's" "Pastor/leader" comes something "a little bit extra." - Power, Profit, Prestige, Honor, Glory, Reputation, Recognition, etc. ALL those things Jesus spoke against, ALL those things that become "Idols." "Idols" of the heart. Ezek 14:1-11, ALL those things that are highly esteemed among men but is abomination in the sight of God. Lk 16:14.

Jesus... I've returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of my soul...

  • @AAmosLove Dude. Chill out. Pastors aren't meant to be idolized. They are there to help lead. Shepherding. Never are they to be taken as the infallible word of God. Never. They merely interpret the scriptures for people that cannot do it themselves. They are trained and educated for a reason. You obviously see your own judgment as infallible though, judging by the things you have said to smokingbastard. It is a process of teaching and discipleship, founded on biblical guidelines.

  • @PickinNgrinin . You mention Pastors... to help lead. Also a process founded on biblical guidelines. Hmmm? Today's “Pastor/leader,” is this a “Title” or "Position" in the scriptures? Can you name one? ;-) In the Bible, How many people... have the title pastor? In the Bible, How many people are... referred to as pastor? In the Bible, How many people are... ordained as a pastor? In the Bible, How many congregations are... led by a pastor? Be blessed in your search for truth... Jesus
  • @AAmosLove Being a pastor is being a shepherd. Shepherding is something that the bible is clear on; especially in acts 20:28. You keep going off on pastors, but I think you neglect to understand the purpose of being a pastor/shepherd/elder. The purpose is not to give a pastor supreme authority, it is for a man to be in place to lead the flock of God's people. We have to have elders/pastors now because the Apostles have died. Pastors have to study the scripture and be educated to educate others.

  • @AAmosLove I read in 1 Corinthians 3 of Paul "I planted the seed . . ." so I don't think that "church planter" is a particularly dangerous metaphor . . . at least, no more dangerous an expression than "soul winner", which also never appears in the New Testament.

  • ralphrubbish---It was God's design that men should lead. Darrin's logic is on the money on this one. It is sad. Somehow the men failed. The same will happen in every church if men fail to pick up the sword....if they fail to invest in younger men...planting the vision and training the hearts of those in their care.

  • Thank you sir. I have many many problems, many of which are conspiracies on the UFO phenomenon and of course the "looking at other woman as most of us are guilty". Thank GOD I am beating the addiction with the LORDS help. I hope I am not sinning on top of other sins mentioning these issues. Mr. Patrick I am with you and am proud there are those who still care. Your brother in the eyes of GOD from NYC. By the way, I first saw this video by means of church bible study fellow group, changed my life

  • I'm almost positive if you asked Derrin, he would tell you that fondling the xbox controller is just as bad as fondling the football remote if you're putting it as a god in your life above the one true god. Any Idols in our lives which superceed our love and obedience to god hinder our spiritual growth. I'm guilty of this as most are... but god is forgiving and ever-pursuing his children that he loves... us.

  • which is why i need to get back to work.. :)

  • I think the point Ralph is that today men waste vast amounts of time doing things that are totally unproductive and selfish at their base.. Meanwhile, wives and children of these men are looking to them to stand up and lead.. The truth is that men today are a fraction of our former selves even as little as 40 years ago.. Our work ethic is laughable, our leadership capabilities are wanting, and our children are left to wonder what true manhood looks like..

  • "fondling the controller"

what about those who fondle their footballs, rifles, golf clubs, bibles, pulpits? do these, more "manly" stereotypes, typically not spend their money on pornography? you're insinuating that men who play video games are childish, but how is one hobby more manly than another? someone who sits for hours at a time watching sports games and dressing up as their favorite millionaire gets more "man points" than someone who spends the same amount of time playing video games.

  • "it was men who made this church come alive and it's probably men who caused this church to die"

giving an awful lot of credit to men - the success and failure of a church. perhaps god had some say in the rise and fall of this institution?

  • really really REALLY good!

  • People say that the church is ignoring the masturbation issue, its not, he mentions it. Its not a personal problem, there's no such thing as a pet sin. He spends most of the video explaining what happens when men turn into themselves, and don't see their lives connected to their wives and kids (present /future), other men, church and Jesus. The characterization is not just of video game users, its of all men. We have become about ourselves, and not about Jesus's glory, and we need to repent!

  • As men move into the roll of provider, father, husband, etc., there are more important things to focus on. As a child, I was 'hooked' on Video games (I'm a Programmer by trade), but I havn't been a 'Gamer' in years. Too much else in Life when you grow.

  • Too many men are not reaching Adulthood. 'When I was a child, (I did childish things)... but now that I am a Man, I put away childish things'. Some things are outgrown (like video gaming and 'other' things Darren does an excellent job of highlighting) because they lose interest with maturity.

  • I'm interested to see that everyone is reacting to that one line, rather than discussing the much greater issue Darrin Patrick is speaking about here. Let's get fired up about that, rather than quibbling about what is a personal matter. He only addressed it because it is becoming a larger issue, one I believe is tied in with low self-esteem and physical, emotional and spiritual malaise. NOTE: I'm addressing addictive behaviour, not an occasional private session to get you through.

  • I'm more concerned that the comments on this video are focused more on the inference to masturbation than the primary theme of the piece which is responsible, durable, potent leadership by men in service to others within the body of Christ.

  • Men in the U.S. spend $3,000 every minute on Porn. I think that qualifies the topic as a 'Church' problem. The reference to a 'Game Controller' only underscores the immaturity ('delayed Adolescence') that these 20-40yr olds are caught up in.

  • This is an awesome video, kinda inspiring. Great stuff, we need real men in this world to step up.

  • That is an awesome video, kinda inspiring even.

  • A really great video and speech, but the masturbation line was a little over the top.

  • @lakebay972

That's the reason we have so many problems with masturbation in our church today - too many in church leadership feel discussing the topic is "over the top"

  • @TongBlack I wouldn't go so far as to call masturbation a "church problem." But the topic does create a lot of controversy. That's why it's considered over the top and inappropriate for a family-oriented church. The pastor's reference to it in this video is completely unnecessary and unfair.

  • @lakebay972

Masturbation is a 'Person' problem, when an individual dives back into themself to find a cheap substitute for a relashionship God intended to be shared between persons of the opposite sex. It's not about the 'You' or 'Me', it's about 'Us' and that's why it will never satisfy. Good sex comes from a good relationship, when self-gratification is a small part of the overall equation.

  • @lakebay972

Good sex happens when 'Foreplay' starts with the first words spoken to that focal member of the opposite sex that you've committed your life to sharing every intimate experience with, each morning you greet them. Sex becomes ever more exciting when it is a part of the game, and not the only game. Living for the moment, the next thrill, whatever feels good, is a sentence to emptiness and unfulfillment. Life's too short to be squandered on self-gratification.

  • @xapiotos You make it sound like I'm endorsing masturbation. I'm not. I'm just point out that church leaders do not discuss it is because it's too controversial. Pastors are unwilling to take that chance because it'll put their job in jeopardy. I'm also pointing out that the pastor's assumption of video gamers who jerk off right after they turn off their Xbox or PS3 is very judgmental. He has no evidence to support his statement.

  • A sobering call to Men

  • The music is cool.

  • Is easier to stop and give up. Its harder to mount up and fight. Glory only lies in the war to fight not in the couch to sit on. Except our war has a deciding victory.

I like to fight on the wining team. And fight I will. To God be the Glory and satan trembles for we are coming.

  • 60% don't feel like sharing their faith? Good start.

  • I posted this video on my blog. Great job, Darrin. Thankful to God for you.

  • Thanks for this trailer and the book. There's a lot to think about. Will use it in our church-leader-team. For that I've subtitled this video in Dutch. Hope your grace is big enough to allow that.

  • Men need to STOP making excuses and STEP UP and take responsibility! If MEN took responsibility in the church and taught the younger generation how to be MEN then Churches would not be closing. To Darrin Patrick, KEEP IT UP!!!!

  • i'm just going to say this: i'm in my 30's i have video games, i live with my mother (lost a job had no choice, will be months until i can move out) i made a decision between myself and this "god" person you talk about to stay single (i have scripture to back up this reason), i stopped attending church for one reason, no one approves of the staying single position, christianity needs a wake up call and mars hill is not the church to do it.

  • Churches going away? HOORAY!

  • @edelfrink1 - Churches may go away. Celebrate if you will. God will not go away. You will acknowledge Him. The only question is, will it be BEFORE or AFTER it's too late to do anything about it? Your choice - choose wisely.

  • @nvillekat LOL! You make your invisible friend sound absolutely threatening! It's really primitive you think your "Dad in the Sky" wants to torture me forever for not believing he exists. "You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?" A quote from Dan Barker, ffrf.org

  • Horse shit, pure and simple. These people need to be real men and give up their invisible friends. The next time someone says "God loves you" ask them, "Which God?" Humankind has invented thousands of them.

  • @edelfrink1 Yes, man has taken many men to become a God, but there is only one God that became man... in Jesus Christ.

  • @treetackler No, we've invented many gods and the stories of gods having a mortal presence on earth is pretty common, look up Mithras, Thor, Jesus, Horus, Hercules and Krishna for a few.

  • @edelfrink1 Your presence in this comment section is interesting. You could post anywhere, but you find a video like this to spread your "message", and in doing so validate what we believe. If Atheism is correct (I'm assuming you are based on your comments) then why waste your time telling us we're all idiots? Aren't we all going to become nothing anyway, why be so infuriated what people believe? But you prove that man has a hatred towards Christ just as the Bible says so in Luke 21:17

  • @avoice10 I'm here because I care about the truth. Your ancient superstitions have caused much misery for humankind. We should get past the belief in ghosts and demons as answers for anything.

  • @edelfrink1, I also care about the truth, because there is one truth and then lies. I am going to email you, because I would like to carry this conversation on and I don't think we need to fill up the comment section here. But I would like you to explain this misery you talk about, as Sir Richard Dawkins himself has said that "the universe is cold, dark and bleak, but so what" which seems to be a statement steeped in misery. I would also like to know then answers that you have.

  • @edelfrink1 - Yes, man has "invented" many gods. There is only ONE God who was NOT invented, but has existed since time eternal. you too will meet Him one day. Be ready for Him to rock your world, one way or the other.

  • Good video. I don't think some of the trends are the fault of the men, though. our parents or grandparents lived ina society where companies kept employees. That broke down. Companies let people go all the time. This changed the rules of the game. Now, employees change jobs and companies change employees. Men living at home probably has a lot to do with the economy. I don't see that as unbiblical especially if they aren't married. Isaac apparently did the same.

  • olá... tomei a liberdade em legendar esse vídeo para o português, pois a mensagem é muito interessante! veja no meu profile...

hi... I was felt free to subtitle this video in portuguese, 'cause the message has an interesting context! see @ my profile...

  • 1:51 "and so when these men finally stop fondling the controller, they start fondling themselves." HAHAHA he can't masturbate

He correctly observes several cultural phenomenon (like young men not maturing these days and families disintegrating (etc) ). BUT (imo) you're being culturally relative if you think that being Christian is the only way to cull these "societal problems". There are plenty of happy families, strong communities, and responsible young men in non-western/Christian cultures.

  • @stevestevecolcol You are totally right. I am personally ashamed of the amount of time I have spent in church and what little time I have spent outside of it. God is working on me though and I am trying to spend the rest of my life helping others. I saw this postcard the other day and thought it is appropos, it was a picture of a church and it says: "When I'm in here, all I can think about is how we might actually live out the teachings of Christ...if we weren't stuck in here."

  • Continued from above......I wish someone would help me. I wish someone would make my burden easier. I wish someone would make me well. What has the church done for me. You don't look past your own religion. You hypocrites. When you stand before god I wonder if he'll say well done for helping people outside of your church.

  • Christians have no idea what it's like in the real world. You play church and talk about how to better yourselves. You have conferences and different meetings. You have modern music and think you have a liberal look on life. You talk about living off 50K a year and giving the rest to some cause or building fund. Wake up to yourselves. Look outside the 4 walls you call a church. I only wish I had an income of 50K.

  • @stevestevecolcol It would seem you are the one unable to live in reality since I see your interest in UFO"s on your youtube channel! :) Snicker! Snicker!

  • @stevestevecolcol Lots of churches have people making way less than $50K a year

  • This is not merely a call to arms; it is a cry for help. In keeping with the message of the video, there is a strong sense that there are too few excellent examples to look up to. Many feel as though they are reinventing the wheel when they somehow know that there is one already buried somewhere. Find the model (hint: it's there in scripture). Be the model. Teach your kid to be the model. Finish well.

  • Very convicting video that will inevitably rub many people the wrong way as it is not politically correct.

  • I didn't hear anything in this video that is unbiblical. If someone wants to give an example otherwise, then do so. When a word hits home and hits hard, it can be uncomfortable and tough to accept. He's not saying it's a sin to live at home past age 20, or play madden with the guys. He's saying as a whole, men are embracing worldly things more and more. And it's not a Godly trend.

  • Mars Hill church is not a church I would want to lead...they need to clean up their act first!

  • @talkingblackbird apparently you know nothing about Mars Hill Church. Do some research before you speak.

  • Public education does not help! If these people wanted to really help their children, get them out of the public schools!!!! HOME SCHOOL and many of these problems will be cleared up! Men are made in the home, not in the public school system that corrupts. 80% of Christians send their children to public schools, 90% of those children will leave the church.

  • @talkingblackbird I agree with whole heartily on how men are made in the home. My parents raised my 4 brothers and I to be what Paul calls for in 1 Cor 16:13. However, the system of education isn't the main issue. I say this from a guy who was homeschooled his whole K-12 years, so I know and speak from that view. I've found men to arise out of good parenting, not really as a result of the place of education. For I have seen more then a fair share of homeschooled guys I know not grow into men.

  • @talkingblackbird Its the parenting, teacher & pastoring of children that is the main influence on the raising of children into becoming men and women God calls us to be. I won't deny the fact that the public school system has a influence, but light overcomes darkness, not the other way around. Here in this video, I see the call that is so needed for the glory of God to be given that men might inspire to greatness in the kingdom! It's tough truth, but hard words build soft people.

  • The reason you don't come to church is because you're not a man. You're a boy! A real man would come to church. My church. And give money. And never quit their job. And let authority figures tell them whet to do. Because real men listen. And real men accept dares. And real men need to prove it to their pastors.

If you disagree with me, you're a child. And children don't have a right to disagree with a man. Especially a man like me. Blah blah, man, blah blah you're not good enough.

  • The real problem facing the Church is the new culture of alcohol and pre-martial sex, which teaches young folk church is not cool. Young Christian men who are computer geeks and stay with their parents or change jobs, are not sinful and are definatley not responsible for the decline of the Church. There is also nothing wrong with being a meek or gentle man or woman and it does not make you less of a man or woman. To suggest otherwise is against Jesus's teaching.

  • Comment removed

  • @memorygraphic84

    @memorygraphic84

A culture of alcohol and pre-marital sex has always existed.

What hasn't always existed is the modern divorce rate and this false sense of adolescence.

  • "This church had a man crisis"???!! Are you serious? "We need better men which means we need better Pastors" - I was 2m45s into this video before women got a mention, and then only as wives. I waited for another mention of 50% of the human race... but heard all but nothing. Ironically, the rural church at the heart of this cameo was planted by a couple and probably held together by women for much of its life. Please Patrick, don't confuse God's mission with your masculinity...

  • @gerardk6

Assuming that the biblical model of ecclesial pastoral and preaching leadership is restricted to men, then there is no problem.

All you're basically saying is that you disagree with his ecclesiology. So, I'd say to you, please, don't confuse a brother's ecclesiology with an (inferred) misogyny. That is unjustified, and unfair.

  • @gerardk6

(Incidentally, with all due respect, it seems you were wearing blinkers. You say that it took 2 minutes and 45 seconds before women got a mention. You also mention the [non]'irony' of the rural church being planted by a man and wife. However, at 17-18 seconds this was explcitly mentioned - infact, Darrin went one further, and named the wife alongside her husband. You did not do this, but he did. Again, give this man some charity.)

  • Wow. That came across as equating the institutional church with the move of God, and then pushing for making sure we prop the institution up. Not so sure I buy that.

  • A charge & a challenge!

  • I related to the video personally, which maybe I shouldnt have. But he still portrays as if there is something 'wrong' with christian men living at home with parents, playing computer games, or frequently changing jobs. If people choose to do that then its fine - nothing in the scripture against it. I dont know how better men will come from better pastors, 'who can take a punch.' Jesus was meek and gentle and im sure pastors are meant to follow Jesus's lead and not be Mike Tyson.

  • @memorygraphic84 He took torture and crusifixion..... What else can I say? Jesus was tough. Jesus himself said that when struck to turn the other cheek. I'd say that Jesus was the perfect example of taking punches. The video was more talking about having a strong faith that could weather challenges from the world not about physical combat.

  • churches shutting down sounds good to me...

  • @memorygraphic84 it seems you are looking to find offense rather than understand what he is talking about. If you are a man taking care of business by caring for a sick family member, that is in no way what/who Darrin Patrick is talking about here. But if you are 35 and sitting in your parents basement taking a vacation day so you can get to the next level of Halo 17, he's talking directly to you.

  • Rad! Thanks!

  • @Memorygraphic - do you still live with your parents?

  • @jnmcintosh Many good christian men have to live at home to look after ill parents, also what about those men with disabilities who have to stay at home to be looked after? Not the words of an experienced, qualified, caring, considerate Pastor.

  • @memorygraphic84 oh and by the way. I still live with my parents and I'm 22 going on 23. This is not by choice, but rather that I have to deal with Hemophilia (a genetic disease that causes muscle & joint problems). I am limited to 34 hours of physical labor and week and thus not able to sustain my own apartment or house. Yet I KNOW this guy is not attacking me personally. He is rather challenging me and Other men, to become Godly Christian leaders. We are ALL capable of that, including you & me

  • @memorygraphic84 i just think he was talking about the guys who are bumbing off their parents because they're too lazy to do something. But you shouldn't feel like he's attacking you because he was just trying let those people who have no excuse to do that that they need to "man up". i understand taking offense if he was talking about people with disabilities. It's like yelling at a mentally challenged person for not being able to figure out physics

  • @memorygraphic84 I don't see how calling out "little boys" 20-40 year olds, who still live with their parents is arrogant. It's rather a sad statistic. Are there exceptions to where a guy can live with his parents? Yes. But chances are you (the reader) probably doesn't qualify for legit reasons, except for he doesn't like working full-time because it stresses him out.

Lastly. You TOTALLY took the word invest out of context. He's NOT asking for money. Be careful who you label a false prophet

  • @benjaminburgess07 The Pastor is clearly expressing that their is something wrong with Christian men who live with their families. Are dedicated Muslims and Hindus therefore a sad statistic as they often have three generations of their families in the same house? They honour and look after their mothers and fathers as Christians should also. Benjamin Burgess your personal attack on me is unchristian and uncalled for.

  • @memorygraphic84 I must politely disagree. I do not think the pastor is saying it is wrong to live with your parents. He is saying, that there is a huge statistic of men who are beings BUMS; as in they Have the ability to live independently, but Choose not to.I think it is safe to say that he was not intending to make you feel like sh*t & neither was I...Please don't think that at all. This video is a challenge for men to step up to the game, and take the role that God has given them.

  • @memorygraphic84 I guess your the one he's talking about in the video since your conscience has obviously been pricked enough to assault the video. Happy masturbating!

  • I'm always amazed at how quick we are to justify our "hobbies" or say things like being mission minded 24/7 will get you burned out. Who do you know who is mission minded 24/7? Who do you know who is mission minded for 3 full hours in a day? We are asked to die...literally give up our lives in order to find them. Instead, we excuse ourselves so we don't get "burned out". I'm not seeing the burn out problem in my church or in my life. You gotta be "on fire" to get burned out. I'm not trying to d

  • Wow. . .

  • Amen! investing into the Kingdom of God!

  • @capdigga Sure, gaming is okay as a hobby that isn't controlling your time and spending just like reading. But there's a huge problem when guys spend their money on $300-$500 consoles, 47 games priced at $30-60, not to mention the flat screen and surround sound to immerse themselves in an experience removed from reality.

I'm a gamer, too. But I'm not THAT gamer.

  • Positive message that is needed today. but the burden is not on the pulpit but the pews young men and boys need older men to lead by example. Also I don't think playing video games at 35 is an issue only when it affects and takes over your life. Video games in and of themselves are not bad. Men need hobbies being mission minded 24/7 is going to get you burned out. Men need balance in their lives. if video games is how you balance fine, if its sports fine, if its reading do it.

  • This was an amazing video. Darrin, again you've got me passionate for this work!

  • not just men, husbands and fathers to be specific

  • So why wouldn't these church plants re-think how to best minister to kids and families and endeavor to re-connect families and leverage influence we have to combat this?! Its why I Think Orange. Won't someone consider a conversation so that kids stop leaving church at 18 in droves? I am passionate about reaching my home city St Louis, as Darrin. We've got to widen the circle. Kids are included in stopping the making of museums at church.

  • @63017MO When you have good men who invest in younger men then you have all the basis for children's ministries you need.

  • Where are the spelling mistakes? The promo or the book? I don't see any words on the promo.

  • Comment removed

  • Great video, powerful message, but the spelling mistakes are distracting. I hope someone reads this and corrects the mistakes.

  • Fondle their controllers than fondle themselves... what a massive stareotype... =/

  • @Shaklor Statistics feed the stereotype. It's sad but true.

  • awesome...

  • very confronting!
