Sir, to my knowledge the ban was for a quite short period in 2001 and it was lifted on request of Conch shell artisans' union by the government! I am not sure about export but I have seen few Indian sites trading in conch shell..., mostly the sacred ones (e.g Laxmi conch shell). Correct me if I am wrong.
