@zdrgdr not really a free to play. well I mean you can play it free until level 50 after that you have to buy expansion pack witch cost ~20$ or more, also any other quest packs cost a lot of money and you have to buy them because you can't advance any further without them. also you can earn some turbine points(actual money=$) as you play, but that is not enough.. also you can level-up an additional character with it you can also earn turbine points, but that also will require LOST OF TIME

Yeah people still play wow. it's still a good game. But the graphics don't compare to lotro or a lot of other games. But wow has great PvP and some other features that are unique to the game, plus unique lore and storyline.

If wow doesn't upgrade some stuff soon (more than just expansion packs) they'll find themselves slipping.

The point is, the stuff you have to pay for, you don't need at the very beginning, anyway. Like the gold cap. I don't have anywhere near enough money for the cap to affect me. If I like the game around level 20 I might subscribe or become a full member or whatever.
