he said because at the time SAA wanted to replace the 747s with 340s (the 200, 300 and 600 series) and replace their short haul fleet of 737s with A319s - but SAA have been flip-flopping for some time on whether to have a mixed or all-airbus fleet.
Listen AGAIN...NOT THEY HAVE CHOSEN A340-600 FOR THEIR ENTIRE FLEET...they have chosen US fort heir entie fleet, which is the main goal at the end of the day, that is why there is only still a handfull of 747's flying and the 737-800's. Please refer to kindergarten fights 101 for further comments.
I know what a A319 and 737 looks like.... so please fight with people on your level. Thanx. Some of us are real aviators.
The question is how long, the 747 needs much more fuel for a same route and carry only a bit more passanger but less cargo then one A340-600. But you are right, its wrong what they said.
No South Africa don't have any 747 more. So its correct. I guess at the time of the spot it was already clear the 747 would be replaced with the A340-600. Both models compete directly aswell the 777-300ER.
People please this is getting tiresome! Since when in hell is the 737 a WIDEBODY????????? Do you want to replace a 737 single-aisle narrowbody with a A340 quad engine long range high capacity high gross weight widebody?
i know the difference between a narrowbody and a widebody. were talking about entire fleets tho, which includes both narrow and wide. so when i said south african still has 737s, that counts towards South African's fleet, which proves south africans fleet doesnt consist of only airbus. again, i have no idea where your whole widebody business came from.
and theres no passenger plane with more than 2 aisles
nowhere in the video does the man say anything about widebodies. he said "south african has chosen us for their entire fleet". last i checked 737s count as part of the fleet too. i dont know where your notion of "widebodies only" came from
So how do you then explain SAA having A319's on their fleet too? Do you want to class them as widebody too? Or should I say "PEOPLE WAKE UP" Like you did?
With people like you in our beautiful country, i am ashamed to be called a South African. You have a disgusting mind, and your heart is filled with evil. By spouting such filth, you lower yourself to sub human standards, and you make your fellow South Africans look equally stupid. Please, we know SAA is great, but don't make us all look like fools, just because you want to talk like one. Sis on you!!!
Fantastic Spot, fantastic plane and fantastic airline. Was looking very long for this vid, thanks for sharing. The A340-600 is sure the most beatiful and sophisticated airliner in the sky's.

So again for you to understand the terms:
A narrowbody has only one aisle, typical weight of 70-90t and carries up to 200 passenger at a range of 2000nm(3500km).
A widebody has two or 3 aisles, typical 250t-300t, carries up to 350 passengers over 14000km or 7500nm.
And a VLA (very large aircraft) typical about 350-500t such as the A380 carries over 400 people over 8000nm.

You have mixed some things up. In the vid they said SAA choosed the A346 for their ENTIRE FLEET meaning obviously WIDEBODY FLEET.
Neither the A319 or 737 are WIDEBODYS!!!
