I think why people don't like the new Pokemon is because they can't except the fact that these Pokemon look "different". Speaking of which, what is a Pokemon SUPPOSED to look like? It's basically Gen 3 all over again. No offence, but I think the older overacting fanboys/fangirls should just quit complaining and look at the good things about Gen 5.
My complaint with the new pokemon isn't the originality, it's more that I miss the old style.
The new pokemon have a whole different drawing style than the original 151 pokemon.
Johto was mostly the same, that's why Kanto and Johto have my favorite pokemon.
But from the 3rd generation, the drawing style became different, and later on it began to look like digimon. They're not all ugly or unoriginal, but... they don't feel like 'pokemon' anymore to me.
Half the people who hate Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and B/W haven't even actually played the game, probably because they're too fucking scared to accept change.

They feel a need to keep true to what they know. That being said, I grew up on the first and second gen. And while they will always be special to me, in the end, I feel that the best game in the series is black and white. I'll still love the classic pokemon, Mewtwo all the way. But this one? Easily the best game. Ever.
I don't like a lot of the designs of this generation, It's not to say that they aren't pokemon.
It just they looked bad compared to most of the really good looking ones (such as the water and grass starter 3rd forms, or the weird Pringles head jellyfish...) of this generation, and there were too many bad designs.
That being said, I loved the music, It was better than Hoenns music, which as all but my favorite song in it (Johto Surfing theme ^_^)
Next generation should be the same build up like with the bridges and stuff, but focusing on the elements!!! Fire-type, Water-type, Ground-type, Flying-type! That would be kickass!! :D

The awkward moment when you think you're invincible because you're an Elite Four member, then get owned by three trainers (N, the player character, then Cheren) within like five minutes...
It struck me in such a good way to hear the Elite Four talk about other challengers, and how they lost to them. I felt like it was a race against time with someone finally on the protagonist's level (story wise) as opposed to the usual "You're Powerful, But, Subsequently, You're Alone." tempo of previous games. Really excited to see what happens in White2. So many possibilities.
@TsuNaru When I heard about Black and White 2 (like ten minutes ago), I was like, "WHAT!? They're remaking Generation V already!? That was fast!!" O_O
@LlamasInYourCloset I know they're not going to remake the last games they released on the same platform -.- At the same time, I have trouble believing that there are enough loose ends in Black and White for a full-blown storyline sequel to be feasible. Maybe a prequel is more likely? I guess we'll find out as more information is revealed.
Am I the only one who loved the reference to the R/S/E Elite Four theme (the only other Elite Four theme) at 1:19? I love how they gave them their own theme again this time around.

@sora8711 Well, there are a lot of aspects that B&W lack from previous games, that's true. I'm not saying that I ADORE the soundtrack, it's just that this game had a lot of songs that I like unlike other pokemon games. Other games would have 1-2 enjoyable songs. On the other hand, B&W had good music going on the whole game. Sure, the rival music was utter crap, but it had other good songs like this one. Besides, I'm sure that when Pkmn Gray comes out there will be some of those features you said
@driftnick I don't see what the big deal about the rival theme is. The rival theme was pretty good IMO; a good, friendly battle that feels like you're just kids having fun instead of a pressured, heavy battle.
yesterday i battled the elite 4 and i was so surprised that it was so easy then i met up with the champion and i was lik WTF your easier than the elite 4.
I really don't understand why so much hate for 5th gen. It's freakin awesome! You have truly epic music like no other gen, a lot of improvement in terms of originality (admit it, the only thing out of the ordinary in gen 1 were a copy of mew, a dinosaur with a plant on it's back, an artificial pokemon and an armoured starfish). Of course, Kanto is important being "the roots" and all, but I'd prefer Unova over Johto anytime.
@driftnick Wow, your are the complete opposite of mine. A lot of the music was hit or miss, as I've said before. Probably the only good themes are Cynthia's Theme (although that was from originally from DP) This, and Final N Battle. Rival Battle and Gym Leader were just too..... happy. Johto had Silver who was an awesome rival unlike Bianca and Cheren. Not to mention HG and SS actually had a Battle Frontier, Vs. Seeker of sorts AND the game corner. All of which Gen 5 is lacking.

@driftnick its not that its a bad region. The main complaint was the besides new pokemon, new abilities, and new moves (all things expected with a new generation), Gen5 didn't change anything at all. Much of Gen5 just feels like Gen4 with added content.
Every generation, there has been a major gameplay change, except Gen5, I applaud B/W for the better story and surprising end, but the game has the amount of content as Pokemon Platinum, except there are way less Pokemon to catch.

honestly, i was skeptical abt this gen (i didnt play much of 3rd and i skipped 4th) but i finally caved in and bought it a few days ago. havent had any regrets (even picked up white as well so i have both). gen5 comes in a VERY close second as my fav gen next to 2.
@driftnick Black and White is garbage, lol. I could hardly tell it was Pokemon. Generation 4 (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum) are the best by far. The next game that comes out better be a redemption. I'm still waiting for that final game collaboration of 3+ regions.

@idioticstudiogames Lemme see... 50% of the world is water, the villians are completely unispiring, it was the only game where you can't catch all the pokemon till the released remakes (later games you can transfer), your rival is barely a rival; she's really easy and doesn't even fully evolve her starter, a lot of pokemon are VERY forgettable (Swalot, Plusle, Wingull, Skitty, etc.), way to many water types were added, practically no post game, and removed day and night from gold/sliver. Happy?
@Fireball1815 50% of the reigon may be water, but it's kickass surfing music makes up for it. team magma/aqua isn't nearly as uninspired as team galactic. Despite there being some forgetable pokemon, there were also many amazing pokemon (milotic, gardevoir, grovile, swampert, absol). I rarely ever do most post game stuff anyway. but to each his own.
It normally takes me some time to warm up to the new music when a game is introduced. That said, when I first heard this I think the elite four were annoyed that I stopped battling them and just listened to the music for a couple hours....
I always listen to black and white music online, and I always look forward to themes like this one, but once I get there, I'm too pumped about the battle to listen to the music !
I love how it's similar to the Hoenn elite four theme. 1:18 sounds very similar to a part in the RSE elite four music.

@driftnick Wow, your are the complete opposite of mine. A lot of the music was hit or miss, as I've said before. Probably the only good themes are Cynthia's Theme (although that was from originally from DP) This, and Final N Battle. Rival Battle and Gym Leader were just too..... happy. Johto had Silver who was an awesome rival unlike Bianca and Cheren. Not to mention HG and SS actually had a Battle Frontier, Vs. Seeker of sorts AND the game corner. All of which Gen 5 is lacking.

@xaddgx I love pokemon black and white.I love the graphics,the gameplay,the music.I love the story about team plasma and N.I love the new moves and the special abilities.Obviously the makers have worked very hard.But it's quite apparent that they didn't put in as much effort in making the pokemon.Not all pokemon are bad,some are gorgeous but most are just ugly.You can't just make a pokemon which looks like an ice cream or a coffin or garbage.Compare gen 5 with the pokemon of gen1 and 2.

I suppose they did take a lot of inanimate objects and make them into pokemon this time, but the world is limited, and sometimes imagination just doesn't want to work...but really, if you don't like a pokemon, don't use it and just beat it up when it shows itself. Use the pokemon you like, be indifferent to whether or not they have good power an you'll enjoy any region of pokemon.

@driftnick its not that its a bad region. The main complaint was the besides new pokemon, new abilities, and new moves (all things expected with a new generation), Gen5 didn't change anything at all. Much of Gen5 just feels like Gen4 with added content.
Every generation, there has been a major gameplay change, except Gen5, I applaud B/W for the better story and surprising end, but the game has the amount of content as Pokemon Platinum, except there are way less Pokemon to catch.

The Elite four was, basically, the Gym Leaders that missed in the game.
Ghost, Fighting, Psychc and Dark.
There was a Fire/Water/Grass -types gym, Normal-type gym, Bug-type gym, Electric-type gym, Ground-type gym, Flying-type gym, Ice-type gym and Dragon-type gym.
There is missing a Rock-type, a Poison-type and a Steel-type master.
Then we would have every element master in the same game.

@idioticstudiogames Lemme see... 50% of the world is water, the villians are completely unispiring, it was the only game where you can't catch all the pokemon till the released remakes (later games you can transfer), your rival is barely a rival; she's really easy and doesn't even fully evolve her starter, a lot of pokemon are VERY forgettable (Swalot, Plusle, Wingull, Skitty, etc.), way to many water types were added, practically no post game, and removed day and night from gold/sliver. Happy?

Despite there being some forgetable pokemon, there were also many amazing pokemon (milotic, gardevoir, grovile, swampert, absol). I rarely ever do most post game stuff anyway. but to each his own.
