  • I am currently a college student who is volunteering for the children's brain tumor foundation which is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to improve the treatment, quality of life and long term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education and advocacy to families and survivors. Please donate if you can at firstgiving .c o m /fundraiser/laurendelacruz /fundraisingpage (take out the spaces) Every $1 counts!

  • Why dont they just kill those people its too expensive and they are fat retards anyway

  • Yikes, my dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor today :(

  • i have a brian tumor.thats why i looking at this stuff lol god bless this world

  • I have had brain cancer since the age 7-8...Pilocytic-astrocytoma.....had brain operation as an adult....No chemo...No radition.....there are other ways...........please check out my channel.....& never let a Doctor tell you how long you have to live.....

  • @lucrene1112 when I had the brain operation...they could not get it all...

  • Thankfully we have a mostly socialised health care system here in the UK (NHS) so all my tumour diagnosis and treatment is free and I can have it within a few weeks of requesting it. The other advantage is that economies of scale mean the NHS is considered more cost efficient relative to private insurance based systems. Its overall costs is huge, of course, but then so too would be a private system. Perhaps the best thing about it is that it offers peace-of-mind to the whole population.

  • yes, thats true pls watch alliah brain cancer..a 5year old with cerebellar ependymoma grade 2.. malignant cancer attached to lung center of the brain

  • The idea that some people are forced to choose WHICH finger(s) to keep because of their bill after accidents is horrific.

  • I am blessed to live in Canada. I can't imagine living in the US where money means more than health. In a country such as the US, someting like this should not be allowed to happen. Sad.

  • Yeah I've got weird symptoms and I'd like to go have some tests to check it out, but there's no way I could afford a series of MRI's. My small business can't afford the obscene rates for small-time health insurance. The problem is what the hospitals charge. Let's not forget that they are for-profit. Like any business, they have teams and board meetings trying to figure out how to get the customers coming back and spending even more money. It's as expensive as it can possibly be.

  • @proaudiohd That is so true, I had A grade 2 astrocytoma brain tumor in 2007 removed and nobody can afford it!!!

  • I had i brain tumor when i was a teenager. But i live in Holland. The health care system over here did cover every single nickel. Americans have the right to get this kind of care to. Its so unfair.

  • I had a brain resection done back in June due to discovery of a brain tumor in my head -- no charge. :) Wait time was only like a week! Thats the marvel of the health care system here in Canada! :D

  • yeah i had free 2 week treatment in UK, mris and all, hospital stay, everything free.

usa sucks if you get ill and arent loaded

  • There is a laser technology for tumor ablation that is of benefit to some; if you contact them they will have neurosurgeons look at your films and decide whether this treatment might be applicable. Go to visualaseinc

  • I'm going at $70,000 dollars in debt for my craniotomy and related expenses. The doc says I need gamma knife surgery which will cost $35,000 more.

It seems to me that if a country can find money to kill people, and bail out wealthy wall street bankers, then there should be enough money to help the sick.

  • Believe it or not, $70,000. for your crani is a bargain. Mine was nearly $100,000. I did not have gamma knife, so I lucked out there. A year of chemo, and related costs, was roughly another $80,000. Fortunately, my antiseizure meds are now being donated, but they were $800./mo. until I could get the donation, and I have to take them for life. Good luck with your surgery, and best wishes for your recovery.

  • You got that right!

  • there is a spirit world and justice will find us there.

  • The health care in the US is totally collapsed, it should not cost this much.. I live in Norway and got a brain tumor surgery + medication for some years for epilepsi and lots of MR scans and EEG tests, I pay around 200 dollars a year, then I get a freecard for the rest of the year from the state. So as it is in Norway, the state should pay for surgery etc. until you are back on your feet. It is better to raise the taxes than fear moneyproblems if you get sick. Maybee Obama will do the trick =)

  • In the US cancer too is a systematic method of removing any wealth in the family and/or throwing them into HUGE debt.

A friend was harassed into taking a several hundred thousand dollar mortgage on her home to pay for her mothers cancer care.

Naturally she died anyway and my friend person was robbed of her ability to retire due to wanting to save her families honor in the darkness of an collection process.

If this is YOU don't let them do this!

  • While having a brain tumour in Canada is certainly not a cost factor compared to the U.S., our long wait period can be killers.

From the day I first went to my doctor until I had my craniotomy, almost two years elapsed due to our wait-lists for specialists and MRIs. Wound up paying for a private MRI rather than waiting four months. After surgery, it was a year-and-a-half wait for an appointment with a neuro-pysch.

Lucky for me my tumour was low-grade and slow growing.

  • peefie in canada healthcare is also free, regardless of income. Even europe and other place have free healthcare, I dont understand why americans dont do the same instead of making their people suffer, and go bankrupt. You should watch the movie sicko, its some pretty sad stuff. Phew!

  • I am so glad things are so much better here in the Netherlands. My health insurance plan covers ALL expenses which include craniotomy, Temodar capsules, radiation, consults and MRI scans. People with brain tumors shouldn't have to worry about MONEY!

  • This is exactly what I'm going through. I have a pituitary tumor (Macroprolactinoma) and I have to pay $200 each visit with my endrocronlogist, $1000 each MRI (been having them once every 3 months for a year)plus hospital stays and trying to get disability insurance I have racked up $53,000 in insurance cost since my diagnois in Aug 06. It is a horrible situation we are in here in America and it will only get worse I'm afraid.

  • I also forgot to add my insurance hasn't "dropped" me but they no longer pay for my nerosurgen or my endrocronolgist.

  • what a cold world why not just move to canada this is rediculous America the land of the free whatever this rich ass country can't even save a life?

  • the quality of doctors in the free healthcare system in Canada doesnt even compare to the quality of doctors in the US. If we had free healthcare it would take months, maybe years for people with serious illness to get medical attention, as there would be overcrowded hospitals and medical centers, just like in Canada.

  • quality of doctors in Canada and UK are as good as US for most procedures. waiting lists are not a big problem in UK anymore, I dont know about canada. If you have a serious neuro problem, you get mri, ct, surgery very quickly and for free, that was my experience in uk.

  • how many patients get dumped by their insurance shortly after dx?
