  • Eldridge Cleaver was more intelligent than most negroes, but he was still just a silly negro spouting excuses for the failure of his race to thrive in the world's greatest country. Negroes are always coming up with some cockamamie theory or another for their failures. The truth is that they are low-IQ subhumans from sub-Saharan Africa. They don't belong in modern cities, living among civilized people. They should move to one of the many black-majority black-governed countries in Africa.

  • @Elmore3141 You again.....

    Get a life loser

  • You have to take respect not ask for it!

  • Wow! I hadn't thought of that - that cops protect neo nazi's in the name of free speech. WTF!!??!!?? Did you know that some cops disguized as demonstrators initiate violence to give the robo-cops an excuse to attack the real demonstrators?

  • "All those riots". Cleaver is right - the riots are the fault of the programmed police who don't respect our founding principles (individual liberty, etc.). They are the real gangsters (and their higher-ups). They are the real criminals. Just watch any peaceful demonstration - the police are armed to the teeth and the demonstrators are typically unarmed. And lately, riot police have been covering their faces. Hiding their identity is proof they're not on the side of right.

  • @katydig "Just watch any peaceful demonstration - the police are armed to the teeth & the demonstrators are typically unarmed."

You know it; I have lived it. At an anti-war demonstration during Pres. Obama's last visit to L.A., I saw cops decked out like they were going to war standing over a group of peacenik Latino kids demonstrating for the Dream Act. I said right in these cop's faces: "You guys are total coward assholes!"

Of course, cops turn out in force to PROTECT Neo-Nazi marches.

  • nate57

  • he died a lonely crackhead

  • He "was" genuine Black Panther, orator, author("Soul on Ice")-which I read & couldn't put dowm, & leader of the Progressive Black Leftist Movement. I admired/respected him...& I'm White. Bt he SOLD THE FUCK OUT, morphed in2 Repub! I marched on WH in 1980, w/ 35,000 others, protesting intervention in El Salvador. 2 our right, @ 150 yrds away, EC led Pro-Reagen rally, spprtng the Sandanista regime. A fucking waste!

  • @3244gorilla "2 our right, 150 yrds away, EC led Pro-Reagen rally, spprtng the Sandanista regime."

Anyone who was pro-Reagan in 1980 was not a Sadinista supporter. The Sadinistas were the Marxist revolutionaries who in 1978 ousted the corrupt dictator Somoza. I think perhaps you meant to write "Contras"? In any case, if it was a rally protesting US involvement in El Salvador, Reagan supporters would have supported the Salvadoran government of the day, but certainly not the Sandinistas.

  • Yes it was interesting in the 1960s the govt could find the money to build nuclear missiles, but could not find any money to have free school lunches for all American children.

Nor could the govt find the money for free health care or free college, all of which is given under democratic socialism. Nations that have dem socialism do fantastic, like Norway and Sweden. Nations that do not, like America, are teetering on economic collapse, with banker assassinations looming.

  • you people or crazy it you do not see the truth of what he speaks. it is not to be mad fun of and if your black you really should be looking more into what he is saying. font fall for the hipe he follows the viwes of the republican party not the white devils that are in powers and every other race that help them in their wvil plan

  • cuzz is high..

  • As with most revolutionary leaders, he is better judged by his writings and not his actions. Make no man a hero, yet bring forth the concepts they attempted to instill in all of us. Whether Huey & Cleaver, Chairman Mao, Mugabe, etc

  • So true, So true... I have researched much about the new world order, and this is the same message again. Americans need to wake up and revolt, see that it is the powers on top that are making them missarable, not pot smoking kids

  • From 1967-1975 Eldridge Cleaver was an influential writer, radical intellectual and Black liberationist. Because of his commitment to armed struggle against oppression he was forced into international exile during which he spent time in CUBA, ALGERIA & FRANCE. In 1975 he returned to the U.S. and surrendered to the FBI who kept him in prison for 2 years. Upon his release he did a 180 and rejected his former commitment to Black liberation.

Early Cleaver = on point. Late Cleaver = fell off.

  • Eldridge Cleaver is a hypocrite, because he goes and say "fuck Ronald Regan" and then he goes and support the Republicans.

When that ruthless devil Regan became Governor of California, he was encouraging his vile beasts in power and in Congress along with the FBI to murder and to destroy the Panthers especially at their chapter in Oakland, Los Angeles.

Eldridge no matter how gifted he was, he just lost it in the end.

  • Soul On Ice. By Eldridge Cleaver. I opened this book today at bookstore and bought it. Beautiful writing. Who is this man. My god he's a fucking genius

  • he was a member of the black panther party. he wrote the book in jail.

  • I'm almost finished with the book, and all I can say is that the brother is deep.

I thank the N.O.I. for waking me up.

  • he's speaking then on whats going on now. listen

  • it's important to equate the struggle of these brothers with the time they struggled. the physical and economical brutality at the time was harsh on brothers and sisters. They did their best with that beatdown.

  • Try to focus more on the message given by these people, as opposed to focusing more on their behavior or their role in the Party.

  • I love the books written by all of the Panthers, as well as the books written by the individuals who inspired the Panthers. But I must say, you guys should try to overlook the character of these people; stop trying to place them on an alter; stop venerating them; they're just human like everyone else, and are just as prone to be as faulty as you and me.

  • youre right.

  • He turned his back on the revolution and joined the Republican party and became a right wing religious zealot. Something definitely got fucked up in his head!

  • BM, that was no doubt the result of his use of LSD with that assclown Timothy Leary! LMFAO, he even flirted with Mormonism which should be punishable by death is one is Afro American, given their historic position on the origin of Black People. That said, his life has to be taken in parts. I try to focus on his early positives because what followed was out there to say the least.

  • i disagree. the left are for control. the right have some white supremacy in them but at least they say get it on your own. BE A MAN!

  • seriously, anyone who thinks he is an uneducated idiot as some are subtly implying, read his book soul on ice. It has got to be one of the most intellectually stimulating books of the past 50 yrs.

  • That's right the book was excellent

  • whats fellow afro americans.... i have this book in hand by philip s. foner, "the black panthers speak. i have read the books mentioned, "a taste of power"- elaine brown, and "the black panther reconsider"- by charels e. jones by the way i have in hand. and as i read some of yall comments, and please forgive me for my opinion, but some of yall are arguing over just what nixon and hoover set out to accomplish. the dissagreements between blacks, we can do better. power to the people!!!

  • shiftyeyes, I think you're right about Elaine Brown, but you are definitely wrong about Cleaver. Cleaver fell off when he surrendered to U.S. Authorities and came back from exile in 1976, but before then he was on point.

  • By the way, if you want a fair account of the Black Panther Party (The good & the bad), read Elaine Brown's book "A Taste of Power" and "Power To The People: The Rise & Fall of The Black Panther Party." Also read "Up Against The Wall." Even Assata Shakur talks about how misguided the Panthers were in her autobiography.

  • hey wsup now, i read "a taste of power". (i got all the guns, i got all the money). i belive thats how she stated that quot when huey appointed her head of the oak. chapter. right on

  • lyrical20, you obviously don't know your history, by the time Elaine Brown took over, the revolutionist Panthers had already left - Assata talks about that in her book as well. In 1971 the party split(COINTELPRO worked its magic) between the revolutionists who sided with Cleaver and the reformists who sided Newton. If you favor reform thats cool and stick to those books you mentioned. If you are about revolution then you know that Eldridge Cleaver was on point until 1976, after that he's wack

  • Zaleoutlaw, much respect, but don't confuse the Black Panther Party with the rest of those who you listed. They were not racists like the KKK. They were not cultural nationalists like the nation of islam. They were not reformists like democrats, republicans, conservatives and liberals. They were not a religion like christianity. They were revolutionary nationalists and were definitely well aware of the disease, just listen to Cleaver himself in the clip above.

  • anybody who studies capitalism knows that the ruling class, regardless of its color, uses race, class, religion, and gender, etc to divide and manipulate people into fighting amongst each other instead of coming together to defeat the parasitic ruling class. overall, the black panthers, the kkk,the nation of islam, the democrats, the republicans, conservatives, liberals, and christians, etc end up failing because they focus on the symptom and not the disease.

  • the very first europeans who came to america did not consider themselves white, and the very first africans who came to america were servants, and not slaves, and did not consider themselves black. The first europeans and africans in america were a united working class who was gaining power and it was then that the ruling class, who was coincidentally "white", has divided and manipulated whites and blacks ever since. the state has taught whites to hate blacks, and blacks to hate themselves.

  • "the very first africans who came to america were servants, and not slaves, and did not consider themselves black." Then you go on to say, "The first europeans and africans in america were a united working class who was gaining power." How can a servant gain power in a united working class? You know, when I read dumb comments, I really lose hope for this planet. Overall, mankind is one dumb ass species at war with itself.

  • Eldridge Cleaver was an idiot, as was most of the Black Panthers. The way they treated their own women was despicable!

  • It still doesn't mean they didn't have a point.

  • lyrical20, Cleaver an idiot?, do your homework first before you make such bourgeois reformist claims. Check out Reginald Major's 'A PANTHER IS A BLACK CAT' or Bobby Seale's 'SEIZE THE TIME' for the most accurate history. Check out 'THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY (RECONSIDERED)' by Charles E. Jones as well as 'LIBERATION, IMAGINATION and the BLACK PANTHER PARTY' by Kathleen Cleaver and George Katsiaficas for the more theoretical aspects.

  • Man, please! I don't wanna read no bias books on the Black Panthers from former members who will cover up their dirty work. You're not gonna get the real story from people like Bobby Seale or Kathleen Cleaver, who, by the way, received MANY beatings from Eldridge! The fact is, Eldridge Cleaver was an idiot, a rapists, and a woman beater. He was nothing more than a loud mouth sissy! It's no wonder that he became a Republican and denounced all of his past rhetoric. LoL

  • Agreed - Also remember the FBI and CIA had infiltrated the Panthers and Elridge Clever and Elaine Brown were informants for the Government - just check their deeds and you will see that they were cointer-revolutionary.

  • Are you sure about Elaine Brown being an FBI agent? I know there has been rumors about it, but there's never been any proof of it. Besides, when Elaine took over the Party, they had a lot of success. In fact, the Party was on their way to legitimacy under her leadership. They had a good thing going in Oakland before Huey Newton ruined it. I just find it hard to believe that the FBI would've let an agent take the Party that far if they were out to destroy them.

  • RIP Eldridge Cleaver! Much of what he says here has come to pass on countless social levels since then!

  • Eldridge Cleaver was no traitor. Soul On Ice is a handbook for independent radical Black intellectual engagement. For the record, in Soul on Ice, Cleaver condemns rape as a dehumanizing act. Know the whole history of the BPP and the BLA before you go spouting that conformist reactionary bullsh*t that David Hilliard and Huey Newton inspired slander about Cleaver after the BPP split in 1971.

  • @brotherwise

    Right on!

  • Fuck Eldridge Cleaver, that disgusting traitor. Read Huey: Spirit of the Panther, this guy was a homophobic in the closet homosexual, multiple rapist, and probably a collaberateur with the FBI (judging by how he got off with probation for the incident [after fleeing the country] when David who did less than he got three years, and Hutton was killed). Later became a Republican, coke addict and mormon. Reactionaries deserve everything they get.

  • Scared Revolutionary? Is there such a thing?

  • lol sounds like a oxymoron to me like a virgin slut : |

  • c'est une pourriture de raciste

il a même avoué avoir violé des femmes blanches par racisme

    connard de batard

  • bien d'accord avec toi. Une des pires saloperies de negres que je connaisse
