I was shocked when I saw this. I was NOT expecting such a great piece! I lost the fact that it was Mickey Rourke after a while because he did such a great job. The ending was incredible, tore me apart.

The sad thing is that everyone knew Micky was the one that should have gotten the oscar but it was a hollywood decision to support the gay rights bill and therefore put a gay activist film to the forefront by giving Shawn penn the oscar for Milk. Sad but true... I hope it will get Mickey working harder... so is the ways of hollywood sometimes. :( but in our hearts we all know who the winner of the oscar really was. Taking nothing away from Shawn Penn. But Mickey was spectacular in this film!

Maybe Mickey he had to go through what he did in "real life" and hit rock bottom before he could reach down soooooooo deep inside to come up with such an amazing performance which brought his screen character to life. I cried like a kid this movie. His acting was nothing short of "Marlon Brando" level. Could he have done this as the asshole he was before? Its ironic he had to hit rock bottom to find himself and come up with 1 of the best performances of all time.

Mickey just might be the best actor ever. This film mirrors the struggles he has had in his life and he makes it so real. Unbelievable performance! The song makes it that much more real!
