I wasn't impressed with air traffic asking the Shamrock to climb to 3,000 because of conflicting traffic when air traffic knew of the engine failure and after a Mayday had been called. Get the other traffic out of da way.
@oldbloke01 whillst it wasnt the best thing to ask for the pilot is allowed once declaring a mayday to ignore and reject any controller instruction they want, its up to the conroller to acomodate a emergancy around it not the other way round.
Does the tower controller not realise that "standby" means "wait and I will call you"? The crew didn't have any spare capacity in the moments after the start of the emergency to be dealing with ATC - they clearly wanted to get on with securing the aircraft before initiating further contact themselves.
@DickHead69able Well I am a commercial pilot - so yes, I am qualified in this field. Idiot! Three pieces of advise for you sir - don't finish all of your sentences with an exclamation mark, learn how to use your/'you're correctly and change your username to something that doesn't kill the credibility of anything that you write as soon as the reader sees it.
So I am being nice to you and then you just have an outburst at me for no reason??
Really nice man, rally nice.
And maybe if you understood how hard it is for dyslexic people to type then you wouldn't be so rude (and hypocritical) about the use of words incorrectly.
Oh, and three pieces of advice for you, sir:
1. Learnd how to discern between sincerity and insincerity.
2. Learn to not insult people about whom you know nothing.
4. Don't be an arrogant douche and apologise when you have been wrong and hypocritical.
I am sorry if you interpreted my initial comment as an insult, but maybe that says more about your communication skills and your insecurities than it does about me... !
@DickHead69able I apologise if you were being sincere however it came across as being quite sarcastic. And yes, I did spell 'advice' incorrectly - we all make mistakes.
@dacianmarine they like to confirm it as some pilots will use words like prioroty or describe an emergancy and to avoid confusion they use it all the time for all emergancys
funny when i first heard this a while ago i thought it was an exercise or drill...it didnt sound like it was a real scenario. Obviously it was....th mayday didnt sound like it was very sincere lol
pilot mayday mayday mayday.... ATC are you declaring an emergency....... No its a fine May day.. heres your sign

I do worry about the controller who after hearing "Mayday, mayday, mayday, engine failure" feels the need to ask if they are declaring an emergency.

@sandercamillo its standard procedure so whillst it sounds slightly stupid it ensures no misunderstanding.

Very professional. But what was the tower at, asking 'are you declaring an emergency" after hearing a triple 'Mayday'
dacianmarine 5 months ago
@dacianmarine Its something often done to ensure that they heard correctly.
