  • Is this Celestial Choir too? I'm confused...

  • lol Christian disco

  • I guess that was my prophetic voice at the time. Will to make a long story short; a couple of weeks later i heard the song on the redio in it's remixed version. Prior to that David Mancuso played it for me on that " Awesome" sound system at 99 Prince Street. I just feel like a part of history taking NOTHING away from Larry Levan Rest His Soul

  • Many people came to the booth and asked what it was. My wife at the time asked after the party that night where did I get it and what made me play it. And because of my church roots and still at the time dealing with my call to the ministry I said to her; " for many people that were at the party last night; this is as close as many of them will get to church."

  • @larrywho100 I ALWAYS felt like I was "In Church" at Davids House. My Spirit was ALWAYS quenched & my soul filled.

  • It was in used condition but I had to play this song. There were eight other songs on the album and 'Stand On His Word " was about 4:48 long as I remember. I played the song about 4:00 am and the crowd went wild.

  • I was member of The Loft and considered myself to be an understudy of David Mancuso. I was totally engulfed in the music and the club scene. I am this not to take anything away from the Larry Levan ( never met him) but I must go on the record as saying that I introduced the song "Stand On His Word" during a party at a place we were renting on 20th street. I found the in ALBUM form at the Legendary Birdles Record Shop on Nostrand and Fulton Street in Brooklyn.

  • This is incredible for me after all these years. I am a Pastor now in Chicago and my life is wonderful. However, I often think about the people I with back in the day. I did just do alot of clubbing; but I was DJ back and I used to do parties all over the city.

  • When I played this record backward, I found a hidden 2nd song! "We must not use our brain power, Cause god could come back at any hour, We must not question what he does, That's how it is just because, When god allows babies to be raped, Or Casey Anthony's mouth to be taped, That's just how god does his works, And if you don't likes it your a jerk(s), Now please leave your brain at the door, Cause people who try to think for themselves are such a bore!" The stupid..it hurts

  • omdsss i heard this song before i was saved and then now I'm saved I appreciate it waaaaay more! God is so good

  • Wow, i've been searching for this for a couple of months, nice work benji b, you've done it again

  • This is the Larry Levan mix, or at least the one that's on the bootleg on Larry Records, which they credit as his remix. This mix is not on the original 12" (even though this video uses a picture of the original 12"). The 12" has synthesizer on the mixes.

  • I first heard this played by Gabriel Velasquez! I love it! I stand by his HIS WORD! A big muchas gracias for having here!

    yoseph

    San Anto Tejas Aztlan

  • Absolute classic, had this on 12inch and some asshole stole it

  • @MrRockets84 i would beat him up with interest ;)

  • It's chord of "Donovan" !!! copy of this song

  • Exactly. No dis to Larry Levan...this is a Club Zanzibar, Newark, NJ breakout hit! Larry Patterson started playing it in the early in the morning at Zanzibar in 1983...Tony was playing it as well, and He did the remix. Look at the label!!!! This wasn't a big hit at the Garage. Levan played it but didn't go over like it did at Zanzibar.

  • Obsession musicale . blogspot . com

    Nice music

    Free downloads

  • This is Tony Humphries' work, Larry had nothing to do with it afaik, he just played it. Please fix the name !!!

  • @Lugetu Could this be the bootleg "unreleased" version that Walter apparently recorded at the church originally in 1982, before the Joubert Singers re-recorded it in the studio for Gibbons's Next Plateau label (which Tony remixed)?

  • If any thing you should have mentioned tony humphries not larry levan he mixed it not larry

  • @modelmanagerdude

True, but Humphries only did the 6:24 remix...he didn't have a hand in writing the tune (not that I'm taking anything away from him). If anyone else should be given credit it should be Walter Gibbons. It was Walter who brought the original recording (recorded at the First Baptist Church in Crown Heights Brooklyn) into the light of day. Thanks to him, the talents of Phyliss Joubert and her gospel choir were heard by DJs such as Levan and got to shine on the dance floor.

  • @jcr5213 Damn skippy. Tony made it famous, but Walter brought it to light. Good post.

  • @jcr5213 Winner!

  • @jcr5213 AMEN!!!!!!!

  • @jcr5213hope all is well Larry did mix the original remix tonys was years after garage mix many other djs have their own mix my uncle worked at the garage as well as half my family I am a dee jay, I lived there and I know all the dj`s ` dj joey llanos played there with larry he is family and I was alot in the studios back then, larry had 2 labels and all of us djs had our vinyl pressed on acetate at sunshine sound before we would do a final vinyl cut to vinyl we had to wait in a line

  • @modelmanagerdude to those that have trouble reading. The label clearly states Tony Humphries as the mixer of the song. Truth be told Larry Levan is the DJ that made the song popular. U right though model
