  • What is with you people? How come that the HP touchpad is better than the apple ipad?!? HP is the most laggy tablet i've ever seen. If i have hp i will go crazy. Apple ipad is the best tablet in the world.

  • Although I love WebOS, and it does have now a nice variety of apps, I recently installed the CM9 (ice cream sandwich) It is now twice the fun. Netflix is now available. Lots of android apps to choose from. I can boot to whichever OS I want to. Email and Facebook is superior to iOS and android on the HP OS. I would highly recommend the Touchpad it if you don't mind not having a video camera, you can get it for less than 250. It's like having two tablets. There are still new ones on Ebay.

  • Realmente el HP touchpad iba a ser un buen competidor con el iPad pero no llego a consolidarse

  • hp fanboys.

  • hahaha, "webos" in spanish means "testicles"

  • @hola18888 huevos means eggs. testicles in spanish is los testiculos.

  • @godhater11 yep, but "wevos" is the slang word for testicles, like "nuts" in english

  • hp touchpad is much better with CM9 (icecream sandwhich) or CM7 (gingerbread which is a little more stable)

  • i love hp touchpad because it can boot to android cm9. i think webos is better than android but webos doesnt have a lot of apps.

  • im so happy i found the touchpad. Getting one within next 2 weeks

  • @Zirkohify

If you want to learn how to install CM9 (Android) and dual boot it, check this out, it was the only video that helped me!

  • the first was apple all the others where copyers thumbs up if you agree

  • i own a HP & have used an iPad. notice on the HP he had 2 touch the screen a few times 2 make it do a specific task, but the iPad responded 100% every time. this might seem like a small thing, but when you're using it for a few hours a day you get really sick of it. HP feels sluggish and slow in comparison, and sometimes it chokes and you have to wait. the hardware is solid, though i feel its the OS slowing it down. Hopefully they can speed it up in future updates as i like the way web OS works.

  • @morphshag

I partially agree, my brother has an iPad 2 and I have the TouchPad. Android is a much better OS for the TP, though! It is a lot smoother and feels faster and more powerful!

  • i may get flamed for this....kindle fire with CM on it....its awesome

  • touchpad is great , the next generation surely has its place in the market =)

  • Totally biased review. That touchpad screen is a dim POS

  • @donblackie he doesnt have the brightness turned up.

  • You guys sound fucking gay

  • iOS is fucking Operativ System.Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is number one.

  • Seriously guys... your review is brutal. You're comparing a touchpad to an original iPad when the iPad 2 came out 6 months before the HP. My mom and friends all have touchpads because of the price drop to $99 and they all hate them. the OS is brutal, the hardware is slow, and your review is biased.

  • 32GB iPad is more informative than the equivilant HP !!

  • at 36 I was like

    "HOLLY THREE HANDS BATMAN!"

  • my-16GB HP Touchpad-wifi Dual Booting webos 3.0.4 & Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich-CM9-Alpha 0

  • omg he has 4 hands

  • are the touchpads still being sold at Frye's or Best Buy? What's the cheapest/best tablet other than the ipad?

  • does the touchpad have flixster

  • HP touchpad and webOS is dead! I have both iPad2 and HP Touchpad like both. So I'm going to ditch webOS for google ice cream sandwich

  • @hoey77 WebOS isn't technically dead. Its being opensourced which means you'll companies like Apple and Google implemeant stuff from WebOS in the coming months. Also, You can install Ice Cream Sandwich on the TouchPad.

  • @hoey77

Android is a much better OS for the TP, though! It is a lot smoother and feels faster and more powerful!

  • the touchpad is beyond more amazing when you root it with android OS. way better than the web os thing it has stock.

  • Touchpad is the perfect fit for me. I wish people would do some comparisons using some preware tweaks. My overclocked and tweaked TP is not laggy or jittery at all. Pinch to zoom is perfectly fluid. As far as a rear camera goes I have my Nikon D5000 with me pretty much all the time so taking pics with a tablet camera is something that doesnt interest me the slightest.

  • 2:44 lol .cum

  • Touchpad looks nice, but isn't it now discontinued?

  • @Baseley09 -- WebOS is not supported anymore. but the Touchpad is has pretty much become an Android device since it's so easy to root it to Android. WebOS is very nice and hopefully someone will pick it up and support it.

  • touchpad (half the price right now compared to ipad) + android = awesome

  • the touchpad would be a million times better than the iPad if only it had more apps and had slightly smoother animations in all other things the touchpad is better .

  • also if you pull a card down ,when in card view ,it will shoot off screen as well as just sliding it up off screen.

  • Oviously the APPLE IPAD 2 is BETTER :)

    these guys are hp fans and try to point out the good things about the hp pad but they never mentioned the Ipad has a front and rear camera that you can use and not just for skype (;

the web browser was better on the apple these guys are silly hahaha

  • @DoctorrEternity How was the browser better? Does your ipad support flash? NO!

The front camera on the HP is 1.3MP the Ipad 2 is only .3MP. There are apps you can get to take pictures on the HP.

    SO

Is that extra camera on the back really worth 400+ dollars?

  • @DoctorrEternity ipad really is better, but HP fans? Really? lol!

  • @DoctorrEternity have you ever really seen someone using a rear camera on a tablet? And the browser on the touchpad is better

  • @Killzon3commander actually youd be surprised how many people use the rear camera on tablets, your response applies to other tablets that didnt even give you the option of a rear camera

  • @TheArcadeBit No i wouldnt be surprised because hardly anyone does.

Besides most rear cameras are awful quality anyways, the iPad 2's rear camera is 1.3 MP the touchpads FRONT camera is 1.3 MP.

I would much rather like a better front camera and no rear cameera rather than a bad quality rear camera(compared to other rear cameras like iPhone, Galaxy phones etc etc) and an super horrible front camera.

  • Liter and quicker! that's worth buying the ipad!

  • Sorry bro but i can't hear you!!!

  • These guys dont have a clue.

  • a fast-response screen rotation can be a nuisance. you can be handling the tablet and it rotates because you twisted your hand. a screen rotation lag is always welcomed with me. i like to turn auto-rotation off for this reason.

  • There is a new update for HP touchpad. 3.0.5.

An it runs even smoother than this video amazing.

For the price? like the guy above me said.

Its open soucre now to so loads of new things are becoming available such as roms, software, e.t.c

pick one up, you wont be dissapointed.

  • the double tap on the touchpad browser is more useful since it zooms in to the optimal size to read the text. You two sound so biased infavor of the ipad here.

  • I miss WebOS :'( I love my Android devices, but they just don't have the UI pizazz and simplicity of Palm's (R.I.P) orphaned baby.

Seriously hoping the Open Source version is released soon and put to good use by hackers AND manufacturers alike!

  • Sort the fukken sound out.....jeez!!!

  • Don't waste your money on HP products I had my own experience with HP and had to buy the real deal, iPad. What can beat this product is the best and there is no product replica to replace the quality the rest I've called it piracy with license as simple is that.

  • this video is from 2011, why not compare it with iPad 2???!!!

  • Man, u just says HP is not good enough coz it's new, while iPad saw its success at the moment it is launched, I don't think the age of the device matter, it is no match at all to iPad. And regarding the software, Android still not good even after years of release.

  • "It's definitely up there, yeah" LOL

  • why do ppl always compare some tablet to an iPad?

  • @beansemo look at sales :P

  • just bought a touchpad for $280 (the 32gb one). planning to overclock it to 1.5ghz, (

pretty sure you can max out at 1.9ghz though.) cant wait to set up lxde, ubuntu and a remote desktop app :)

  • @kas130771 wow i bought a 16g fr $280

  • @pelon5557 see if you can return it (if you are really upset about that) and I'll send you a link of where I bought mine:)

  • @kas130771 i actually figured ouT dt its da 32g also

  • touch pad is fucking awsome

  • 2 gay guys

  • worst video ever,,whats this a silent movie,,terrible

  • @zen260 what are you talking about?

  • my mom has the ipad 2 and my dad has the hp touchpad

  • Android has both flash and many apps so it beats the heck out of both..

  • @smiche2 No one needs flash now, Html5 is here. So android isnt super anymore. and Apple have ALOT More apps than android so ipad wins in apps. :L

  • webos may not be bad, but ios is defiantly better. if you cant get the hp for a lot less, then sure, but if theyre the same price then ipad hands down. this review seems horribly bias though. its cool if you like webos more... but even the things it failed at, you both invented ways to give it credit where it doesnt deserve it. i personally would much rather have an ipad... but i still would get an android though. im very unbias but the prime is a beast and i want

  • If the HP Touchpad had the same apps as the iPad then I would choose the Touchpad, but the apps are limited which is why I use my iPad 2 more than I use my Touchpad.

  • See some derp is still talking about flash not being on iPad. Read up derp-a-derp, Apple won that battle.

  • @TheJasperkitty So I can now browse any page I want with an iPad? Or by "Apple won" do you mean that that Apple convinced its user base that not being able to use any page with Flash is a feature instead of a bug?

  • @lawyerly Android stopped supporting mobile flash. Flash is going to be history. They don't teach you this shit in middle school?

  • @TheJasperkitty Android stopped supporting flash because Adobe is in the process of dropping flash in favor of html5. BUT a good portion of the internet still uses flash and will continue using flash until more people upgrade their websites to use html5 so your ios devices will still be limited

  • @ConfusedTacos You're right, the exact point I was making to lawyerly. He seems to believe that flash is still a feature issue for Apple as opposed to as "has been" technology.

  • @TheJasperkitty - 'Android stopped supporting'? How about Adobe has announced that it will stop supporting . Don't they teach you this in school?

  • @mccask13 Its in all the trades, you have seen your last flash update from Android. They may support it on their own, but probably just move on to html5. Awwww, the Android fangirls lost the "it doesn't have fwash!" argument.

  • I have both and they are different. Ipad is smoother overall but the Touchpad is equal once a site is loaded and video playing. The only thing missing on the TP is Netflix.

  • Hp webstore so lag

  • so good

  • Good video but I mean c'mon really?? We all know iPad beats all. ALL

  • Hopefully, now that webOS is open source, we'll see some new hardware and more companies jumping behind it. I see a very exciting future, so long as webOS doesn't go the way of MeeGo. The big difference is that webOS is already ready, and has the user interaction and application framework down (a lot of middleware mobile app design applications support webOS).

I'm excited to see what happens in the future, but I might just grab a Touchpad, anyway. You can't beat the price. XD

  • Why not iPad 2?

  • No flash on the Ipad makes web browsing rubbish

  • What the heck does switching to landscape to portrait mode prove? Pointless test.

  • The only reason why the Ipad seems so much smoother is because the UI has top priority over every other process running, thats just how IOS is coded. If you move safari over with your finger like your scrolling off page it will literally stop processing the website and devote 100 percent of the systems resources to making the OS feel smooth.

  • @ndsrulz2 Dude. Where is your proof? I believe you have none. Anyway, a simple real world test can prove you '100%' wrong. Actually try to do what you claim. I believe you will find that not only does the web page CONTINUE to load, but MANY other processes continue to operate. How do you explain music that continues to play from the 'music' app whilst scrolling in safari? Is that not also a process? Don't speak unless you know what your talking about. You clearly don't.

  • @jessehead95 Well 1st, I own a iphone... 2nd, music gets processed through dedicated music pipelines which physically can't be used for anything else because they are structural features within the processor, and you can still receive data while the processor is doing something else I.E.web pages, it just wont be processed until the processor is finished with the higher priority information. Here is more proof

    cultofmacdotcom/133624/why-android-will-always-be-laggier-than-ios/

  • Comment removed

  • @jessehead95 Wow, definite a stupid fanboy. Resources constitute CPU, and RAM, and any other processor like a dedicated graphics chip. You "know what your talking about" so you should understand the concept of CPU cycles correct? Well within each cycle there are different stages of processing, like read, encode, write etc. To speed up processing chip designers created multiple pipelines for processing different types if instructions on the same cycle, like audio v.s logic functions

  • @jessehead95 so yes 100% of the CPU resources are used processing the UI, while the audio is hitching a ride, for FREE. RAM works the same way. Transfers to the cache while sending already processed audio to the speakers. Also fyi, music is preprocessed almost 3 minutes before you actually hear it so you would have to be rendering something for 3 minutes straight before any dropped instructions could even occur in real time.

  • @jessehead95 All Processors made within the last 10 years have multiple pipelines for different information on the same stage. Like i said before you don't know anything, so just stop before you actually learn something...

  • @jessehead95 Why don't you take your own advice, you didnt know anything about what i was talking about, i was actually being fucking objective, but there always has to be a stupid fanboy with his panties in a bunch over what they thought they understood, get a real life stop being a fucking walking cliche, you valueless piece of dirt.

  • More better iPad ... Maybe iPad 3 soon :)

  • HP ;D

  • You have so many hands xD

  • You didnt clear all the webpages in the background on the ipad and you didnt clear history and background apps.

  • got both. =3

  • i have the touchpad an its way better than the ipad an ipad 2 an im using my hp right now

  • first of all..the latency on switching the view from portrait to landscape mode does not suggest a tablet's performance.

secondly..i dont think its wise to mention android tablets on touchpad-iPad comparison..LOL that doesnt help in coherence of the topic..also, android is smart enough to know when and where to show the .com button. not to mention the wide variety of keyboard apps available out there to tailor fit ur need. all u need is to know what u actually want.

  • I was wanting to buy a Hp Touchpad but I can't find where to buy it. I've checked the Hp website but its not there.:(

  • @kwinixable they stopped making them a while ago

  • @Zabatsue why?

  • @vidvivek2009 they pulled out of the tablet race

  • @kwinixable EBAY

  • @kwinixable -go check on amazon. there are still sellers that have it.

  • Looked like it could have been a really good review but unfortunately I could not hear a word you were saying.

  • do a review with web os 3.0.477, with patches and logs set to minimal

  • I am about to get the HP Touchpad. The only reason is because I can't afford the Ipad. Its to expensive. The HP Touchpad is a great device from what I've seen so far and at a great price. I'm not a big app user just needed a tablet for web browsing and email for my hectic life. Both are great devices. I just wish the Ipad would have been more affordable.

  • @guydidi So you seem like a supporter for HP touchpad. Now that webos is being done away with, does that hinder the APP martket and suppor? Thinking about getting one.

  • U.S. consumers tend to have a very high opinion of Apple, and many have invested a lot in their products. They tend to have an overprotective attitude of that quality, and even completely uneducated users who have never used anything else will tell you an iOS or OS X device is better, for a variety of reasons.

However, every now and again you find good UX design and software/hardware outside of Apple. It's not a rarity, and there is much to be improved on in Apple's products.

  • @guydidi Web OS isn't that advanced. I know someone who got it at $99 and it's in a completely different league. The OS feels unfinished. There's hiccups and awkward transitions. The browser sometimes doesn't load pages and sometimes touches aren't registered. Apps and the browser are what you use on a tablet so I don't know why you are writing off apps as if it's nothing. The only thing that differentiates webOS honestly is the card interface but even Android is more refined.

  • @guydidi well now they have an ipad 2

  • My touchpad won't play youtube videos. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks.

  • @igor2978 go use de warranty if it's possible cause my touchpad does play youtube videos... actually i could say this from it :)

  • you can also change the size of the keyboard keys on the touchpad by holding down the keyboard button

  • the HP keyboard changes. I'm typing this on my touchpad. No .com button.

  • @davidascholer just two buttons are added.

  • @RobynHode8 the screen resolution on both tablets are the same; 1024x768.

  • Speak the fuck up

  • The screen on the iPad makes the HP tablet look like mud.

  • @RobynHode8 Hmm I have to disagree... I have the TouchPad here and the iPad 2... the screens look pretty much the same to me. If the screens are at different brightness levels or the backgrounds have different colours, of course there will be a difference... but when both are set-up equally, I see no real difference. Maybe the iPad is a little brighter...

  • @RobynHode8 ...ok?

  • You guys should watch this video, alot of the things you say are not necessary or incorrect like saying Apple's products are the best and nothing will ever compare or that its seemless.... however nevertheless, good job with the review. :)

  • same internet same speed....

  • lol... at first I thought u have 4 hands :-p

  • @007rockford at first I thought you were smart :-p

  • @artenman > i was smart till i saw hundreds of reviews of 20+ tablets :-|

  • @rcdrvrrc7 @wdililn lololololol... YouTube arguments

  • I have to say they are wrong on the keyboard. I am not sure if I am misunderstanding what they are saying, but the .com button is not there all the time. I am not sure if this was made before some update that changed that, but on my Touchpad it is only up when it is in the browser, or if I am filling out a form online and it is asking for an email address then when in other places that .com button is gone.

  • HP is discontinuing the development of webOS devices and is winding down device operations within our fourth fiscal quarter 2011.

Q: What about retailers? Some retailers won’t price match or drop their price to $99.

Each retailer will manage their own policy and process regarding pricing and price matching. Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is.

  • I'd rather pay £100 for HP Touchpad , and be able to buy a dual-core android phone maybe the optimus 2x as well , than buy a ipad for £500.

  • Oh HP. What could have been.... Even though TouchPad was BRAND NEW, it compared well with the established leader and beat it on some fronts (though admittedly not on others).

I just hope HP haven't killed webOS interest by killing the TP. webOS walks all over iOS both from an end-user's viewpoint as well as a developer's. Time will tell I guess.

  • I had a Plam Treo. It used Palm Os. Granddad of WebOS. WebOS look's better then iOS.

  • i have the touchpad and my mom has an ipad i like the touchpad a little better because it has a lot more options for internet

  • patiently waiting for the gold release. Ironically I'm growing quite fond WebOS

  • @elkinsc51 me too

  • This guy has three hands

  • need that touchpad, wonder if I can install windows 8 on it. only idiots pay 600 for a Chinese product. smh now 99$ I can dig it.

  • @alijahgreen "only idiots pay 600 dollars for a chinese product," well you either own almost nothing or are a total hypocrite

  • sorry, but this is a bad comparison ... i like how you totally disregard the blatant lag in most of the touchpads apps whilst the ipad (which is the first ipad) is still buttery smooth. thats what really won me over to the ipad, its so easy to use and is smooth! I use the web browser more than my computer.

  • HP raised the price... this past weekend they had them in stock for $250 for the 32GB and 220 for the 16GB... ALL SOLD OUT... Don't believe me? goto hp's site goto shopping and then search for FB359UA#ABA thats the item number for the 32 GB

  • This you tube volume is very low , hardly hear anything even turn up to MAX...!!!

  • Ipad ftw :)

  • This is such a biased review... I guess these noobs didnt have enough money to afford an ipad2 eh? I mean first of all put it up against a dual core and the iPad itself has only a quarter of the memory that the touchpad is using.. Funny thing is... It still hangs with the touchpad which says everything. Everything about the touchpad is better in ur review very biased no? And I do own a touchpad ... Just saying this is not a review

  • well you get what you pay for.. crappy sluggish device. vs and ipad :D just saying

  • My biggest concern in a small OS tablet is its ability to access my media files and PDFs on my home network. Access to Office 365 or remote accessing software from a home PC or server would also be helpful though not that important.

  • I was waiting for someone's hand to get slapped....get your paws off my tablet!!
