  • Tell me, I am trying to stay away from milk and would like to know what are the alternatives to using Buttermilk? Would soymilk mixed with vinegar do the trick?

  • @cowcreamer Yes but i'd use lemon juice instead of vinegar. Good luck.

  • I must say your bread and mine came out much different. Mine was split all over the top. However I am in the Southern part of the U.S. Not sure if that makes a difference. I added more buttermilk than the 1 1/2 pints because there was so much flour that did not mix with your measurements. I think next time I will add 1 cup of milk instead of 3/4. The bread tasted good, & reminds me of what we have here...I think they are know as soda crackers in the UK & Ireland, saltines here, only soft

  • @redts12 US pint isn't the same as UK pint. You can look it up online if you want to calculate it to the right measurements.

  • You have sucha gentle touch and so quick. Do you find that the less you work with the bread, the more it rises?

  • @Fjmoocow Yes your right. But it's the soda that makes it rise and it is quite a dense mixture - a bit like scone dough.
