Think about it, where would this country be if all the elctronics that aren't hardened for EMP's (which is all electronics except for military and some police) suddenly got shut down, it would be complete chaos, looting and violent crimes would abound everywhere and people would die rapidly. We're too dependant on electronic devices.

During the period of chaos, millions would die of normally preventable causes like cholera and dysentery. We'll also see people who are medically dependent on drugs die off as well because their supply will quickly evaporate... the death toll will be huge, but it won't be random like in a superbug epidemic or something like that.
