Yes Alexander, the most similar languages to romanian are italian and spanish. Between those languages there is about the same relation just like between russian and ukrainian or even closer, but genetically we are a mixt comunity: slavs, fino-ugric, and illyrian predominantly.

When I say romans I speak about all the races in the roman empire: the came from: Palestine, Egypt, Asia Minor, Gallia, Hispania, but the most part of them where romanised tracians and illyrians. There was not such a thing as a roman race becouse being a roman was a citisenship not a race. The fact is that few people came in the balkans from italy if that's what you have in mind:)
