I've never practiced Kendo in Korea so not sure what to say of about them, but I did hear some stuff they discuss about Kendo. Some of them believe that a strike is just a strike and also that martial arts is nothing 'mythical'. Basically they believed in training harder, getting faster, getting strong, and getting better in general. In my opinion, I find this honest. I do understand what people mean by lacking calmness though.
Kumdo is too much obsessed with the myth of power, which means lacks technical accuracy and inner calmness of the players. It makes Kumdo second to Kendo, frankly.
i think the point he was trying to make was to keep the spirit and mentality of combat, to not let a single moment of weakness, i.e. even if you went down u need to keep a guard then retrieve. But i dont do kendo, i do kung fu :) hehe but love watching kendo! u guys are so fast! i'm so jealous! good work!

@jo15000 I don't think they care if they are called sensei or sabumnim. Well, but then it depends on the person.

@sherwoodkim Kumdo (if you're talking about Daehan Kumdo) and Kendo are the same things. It's just a different style.
